Respect this album,
By A Customer
This review is from: Being Myself (Rmx) (Audio CD)
Everyone who dissed this album must understand three things, #1 - When Juvenile recorded this album, he had very little funding. He didn't record it in a state of the art studio like with 400 degreez. That is why his voice sounds different and is drowned out alot of times by the beats. #2 The main reason that it sounds different is the production of the album. It was not produced by Manni Fresh who now produces all Cash Money albums. It isn't even a Cash money Release, it was released by Warlock Records. #3 Like all artists do when they start at a young age, Juvenile has matured and his style has changed along with the rest of the rap world's. You have to remember that rap in 1994 (When this was originally released) sounds nothing like rap in 1999. Juvenile just changed his style to more of what the people wanted.I am not saying that this album is great and I am not saying that it is horable, I am just saying that before you criticize this album, know why it is not as good as his current releases. And if you still got beef, then you aint a true Juvenile fan.

An Interesting Beginning,
By
This review is from: Being Myself (Audio CD)
"Being Myself" was the very first album Juvenile ever did. What's surprising to me is that it very little resembles the Juvenile we all know today, who has put out such hits as: "Ha" and "Back that azz up." This difference may be large in part to the fact that this was released in 1994, a few years before he hooked up with Manny Fresh and Cash Money Records. Nevertheless, this is an all-around good album. The beats are primative compared to today's standards, but they don't feel to keep you moving. Juvenile flowed really well on this album and his true lyrical talents proved themselves on such tracks as: "U Can't C Me", "Shake Dat Azz", and "Conversation With Tha Man Above". Some of the lyrics he said were even heartfelt at times. This album is a must-have, especially if you're a Juvenile fan. It also is worth checking out as simply a fan of rap. For those of you out there who don't care much for Cash Money, check this out anyway. You'll find whatever conceptions you have about Juvenile put to dust. He is undoubtedly one of (if not, THE) best rappers for Cash Money and he's been around in the game a long time. The style here actually resembles Old School hip-hop, like possibly something out of West Coast.

Basically the same as the original,
By A Customer
This review is from: Being Myself (Rmx) (Audio CD)
This one is basically the same as the original 95 release with the goofy album cover, hence the same number of stars. The MAIN difference is the beat for "Powder Bag." The original was simply ok, and I REALLY like this version MUCH better. As I said in the other review, ONLY TRU CASH MONEY AND JUVEY FANS CAN GET THIS ONE!

I gotta say, this album is tight, but is it west coast music or is it that dirty south N.O. flavor we all know?

Not as Bad as Most of You Say,

This CD of course isnt as good as 400 Degreez but you shouldn't expect it to be. Compare it to the other sh!t out in '94 and you'll see this is really a pretty tight CD for the time.

THE CD IS NICE. THE REASON IT HELPS IS THAT BOOKS AND TEXTUAL MEDIA CAN OBLITERATE THE REALITY OF LIFE ALL AROUND A KID GROWING UP .....IT LETS YOU IN ON RAP MUSIC AND MAKES YOU THINK HOW TO
COMPOSE RAP MUSIC. IT IS NOT TOO SCARRY.

HORRIBLE,
By A Customer
This review is from: Being Myself (Rmx) (Audio CD)
When I first listened to this CD I couldn't beleive this was the same Juvenile that came out with 400 Degreez. It sounds like 80's rap. This CD is horrible and my advice is to not get it.
