5.0 out of 5 stars Powerful little book!
Joyce Meyer is a true gem! This book is quite small . . . it'a only slightly bigger than my hand and has only about 125 pages . . . yet, it's so powerful and, I dare say, life-changing! It really gets to the heart of self-confidence issues and gives potent scriptures for battling feelings of defeat. Because of its small "chapters" it's perfect for a daily...

I think the idea behind the book is a great one - finding fulfillment in fullfilling one's "life purpose" or mission however, I don't think that I would be able to get there by following her advice. I think the idea behind the book is a great one - finding fulfillment in fullfilling one's "life purpose" or mission however, I don't think that I would be able to get there by following her advice. This book is long on "ought"'s and "should"'s and dissapointingly short on the "how to"'s and I find that to be unhelpful.

More than once, I found that the advice given was not even self-consistent. For example, on page 49 she wrote, "It is actually a sin to be confident in ourselves...", while on page 51 she wrote, "an individual without self-confidence will never step out and do anything edifying for the God's Kingdom...if you believe you are incapable you won't even try to do anything worthwhile...[this leads to a] Failutre Syndrome". Then on page 53 she writes, "Actually, we don't need to believe in ourselves..." but on page 57, "If you want to succeed, you must be consistenly-confident..."

In my opinion the entire book could be summerised in this statement on page 63, "Our goal should be to find our what we are individually supposed to be, and then succeed at being that". In short, I felt incredibly let-down by the lack of specifics for achieving that goal.
