Bejeweled Twist from PopCap is the most ambitious follow-up yet to the Bejeweled franchise of games. The original Bejeweled was the game that launched the "casual gaming" craze, with game mechanics that anyone can pick up and enjoy, and now with Bejeweled Twist, PopCap has added more depth and strategy with a twisting maneuver.

A New Twist on the Wildly Popular Game
PopCap has sold more than 25 million Bejeweled games, with over 350 million copies downloaded, making it one of the most successful game franchises in history. Bejeweled Twist was four years in the making, and brings an exciting spin on the classic gameplay: instead of dragging the jewels around, you rotate them. The goal is still to create a line of three or more identical jewels, and each successive turn in which you do so gives you a multiplier for even more points. A key difference from the older games is that you don't have to make a match with every turn.

The graphics have been updated as well, with new backgrounds and animations. The graphics are crisper and more modern while still retaining the fun, colorful look of the old games. The new game exhibits a high level of polish and production values, including nice animations in between levels, fun explosion effects when power-ups are used, and extras like being able to watch an instant replay of high-scoring matches.

Four Different Play Modes
Bejeweled Twist features four different play modes: Classic, Challenge, Zen and Blitz. Classic mode lets you progress through increasingly difficult levels where you try to create jewel chains before a bomb detonates. Challenge mode creates specific tasks for you to complete, such as destroying ten gems in one move. In Blitz mode, you frantically try to accumulate as many points as you can within a certain amount of time. And in Zen mode, you can play a relaxing game without any obstacles or timers.

There are various power-ups that can be used for higher scores, such as a lightning gem, which you'll receive by matching five gems at once. The lightning gem then eliminates the entire vertical or horizontal column or row where the gem is located. When a you get consecutive matches to max out the chain meter, you'll receive a fruit gem that destroys all same-colored gems.

Like all great puzzle games, you'll be surprised how fast that time flies while playing Bejeweled Twist.

Fun: 5.0 out of 5 stars
I love this new updated version of the fun Bejeweled game. Much more fun to rotate than drag the jewels. Just click on set of 4 and keep clikcing til it rotates to where you make at least 3. Then there are the flaming bomb jewels. If you match them they explode all around. But my sons think the lightening ones are the coolest. When they are matched, they will do a lightening strike to destroy jewels across and down in t shape. See how many lines you can destroy.

Very fast moving and very fun for all ages that can click and move a mouse. The graphics are very colorful and make this game fun and exciting. Great Family game highly reccommend for all.

Fun: 5.0 out of 5 stars
This game is the latest addition to the Bejewel line of games from "POPCAPS".

The original 'Bejeweled' was a game of match 3, 4 or 5 jewels while trying to obtain a higher and higher scores as the game progressed in difficulty. 'Bejeweled Twist' adds several new options to the old game. The main difference is in movement of gems; in the original game you moved the gem laterally or up/down to make a match, but in B. Twist you turn 4 gems 90 degrees resulting is more combinations and also more unexpected result.

Some other things I liked:

1.)A very pleasant and catchy electronic tune plays continually in the background; in all the times I've played, I've never become annoyed or irritated by this melody. (it can, however, be turned off) The graphics/videos and audio effects (explosions etc.) are outstanding.

2.)The old game ended if no match was available (who can ever forget "NO MORE MOVES" as your last desperate attempt to continue a game failed). However, in this game you always have a move; losing involves having a gem that has turned into a time bomb go off before you can destroy or defuse it. This can be very intense as the music pace increases and the bomb start to vibrate and smoke as the counter ticks down towards zero with each successive move .

3.)Every move that makes a match, evokes a multiplier system that allows score to be gradually increased up to a factor of 10x, resulting in potentially incredible high scoring combos; it's very motivating to try to obtain these increasingly larger and larger multipliers.

4.)'Special' gems are awarded once the 10x multiplier level meter is reach and filled twice, resulting in a rare, but astronomical scoring opportunity.

3.0 out of 5 stars A nice sequal to the original game November 26, 2008
Platform for Display:PC|Vine Customer Review of Free Product (What's this?)
This new version of Bejeweled, "Twist", is an interesting twist (pun intended) of the game, but it is not the same. The original game is a little more mindless, which is a good thing. You can go on for a while enjoying the dropping jewels without too much brain effort, but still enough to make the game challenging. Well, Twist is more complex, in that you actually twist around the jewels in a circular format to form the triple jewels to gain points. Whew! It has great graphics, especially between the levels, but still, ok, not the same as the original.

4.0 out of 5 stars The Latest Incarnation of Bejeweled November 25, 2008
Platform for Display:PC|Vine Customer Review of Free Product (What's this?)
Fun: 5.0 out of 5 stars
Bejeweled Twist is the third incarnation of the very fun and very popular series of Bejeweled PC games (over 25 million copies of Bejeweled have been sold). This latest version adds a few more twists to this classic game, hence the title.

In Bejeweled, gems are laid out on a vertical grid, similar to a chess board, and you swap two gems with each other in an effort to achieve 3 or more in a row. When you make a 3 gem match, the gems "vaporize" and more gems cascade down to take their place. In Bejeweled Twist, you rotate a quartet of gems. In the original Bejeweled, if you swapped a pair of gems and there was no match, the gems returned to their original positions. In Bejeweled Twist, you can make a move without a resulting match. This makes the game much more strategic -- you can tactically move gems to set up a match event without having to solely rely on their original random placement. That statement may make Twist sound easier... but it isn't. There are also surprises in store, bomb gems and doom gems occasionally appear.

There are also variations within Twist. There are different modes of play, including classic, blitz, challenge and zen.

The graphics and audio effects are great; the previous versions were pretty good in this regard, but Twist is much better. The game drives you to excel, if only for the graphic and sound rewards that await! It's a fun game and one that you'll play repeatedly.

Bejeweled Twist installs easily and ran fine on a moderately equipped laptop running Windows XP as well as a high powered gaming desktop running Windows Vista Premium.

2.0 out of 5 stars Bejeweled Twist April 6, 2010

Fun: 5.0 out of 5 stars
I bought this game thinking that I also got Peggle Nights since it was advertised as "Bejeweled Twist with Peggle Nights". This is absolutely not true. I got the game Bejeweled Twist but have to buy Peggle Nights if I want to play it, beyond the trial period. This was definitely a big disappointment to me as I had thought I got both games. This has definitely gotten me to rethinking my satisfaction with the purchases I make at

3.0 out of 5 stars It's Good but I prefer the classic version September 17, 2009

Fun: 3.0 out of 5 stars
The original Bejeweled was a great game.. nice graphics, good sound effects, easy to master gameplay and lots of levels for the advanced player. This new version 'twists' that a bit in that instead of reversing two jewels horizontally or vertically, you 'twist' or rotate a group of 4 jewels to create your matches. While it sounds interesting and certainly is, I find that my original strategy where I could see a few moves ahead is no longer possible in real time. It's still a good game, but the play mode is different enough that I like it less than the original.
