The graphics have been updated as well, with new backgrounds and animations. The graphics are crisper and more modern while still retaining the fun, colorful look of the old games. The new game exhibits a high level of polish and production values, including nice animations in between levels, fun explosion effects when power-ups are used, and extras like being able to watch an instant replay of high-scoring matches.
Four Different Play Modes
Bejeweled Twist features four different play modes: Classic, Challenge, Zen and Blitz. Classic mode lets you progress through increasingly difficult levels where you try to create jewel chains before a bomb detonates. Challenge mode creates specific tasks for you to complete, such as destroying ten gems in one move. In Blitz mode, you frantically try to accumulate as many points as you can within a certain amount of time. And in Zen mode, you can play a relaxing game without any obstacles or timers.
There are various power-ups that can be used for higher scores, such as a lightning gem, which you'll receive by matching five gems at once. The lightning gem then eliminates the entire vertical or horizontal column or row where the gem is located. When a you get consecutive matches to max out the chain meter, you'll receive a fruit gem that destroys all same-colored gems.
Like all great puzzle games, you'll be surprised how fast that time flies while playing Bejeweled Twist.

I love this new updated version of the fun Bejeweled game. Much more fun to rotate than drag the jewels.
You just click on set of 4 and keep clikcing til it rotates to where you make at least 3. Then there are the flaming bomb jewels. If you match them they explode all around. But my sons think the lightening ones are the coolest. When they are matched, they will do a lightening strike to destroy jewels across and down in t shape. See how many lines you can destroy. Very fast moving and very fun for all ages that can click and move a mouse. The graphics are very colorful and make this game fun and exciting. Great Family game highly reccommend for all.

An interesting addition to the Bejeweled family of matching games,
= Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Bejeweled Twist (CD-ROM)
This game is the latest addition to the Bejewel line of games from "POPCAPS".
The original 'Bejeweled' was a game of match 3, 4 or 5 jewels while trying to obtain a higher and higher scores as the game progressed in difficulty. 'Bejeweled Twist' adds several new options to the old game. The main difference is in movement of gems; in the original game you moved the gem laterally or up/down to make a match, but in B. Twist you turn 4 gems 90 degrees resulting is more combinations and also more unexpected result. Some other things I liked: 1.)A very pleasant and catchy electronic tune plays continually in the background; in all the times I've played, I've never become annoyed or irritated by this melody. (it can, however, be turned off) The graphics/videos and audio effects (explosions etc.) are outstanding. 2.)The old game ended if no match was available (who can ever forget "NO MORE MOVES" as your last desperate attempt to continue a game failed). However, in this game you always have a move; losing involves having a gem that has turned into a time bomb go off before you can destroy or defuse it. This can be very intense as the music pace increases and the bomb start to vibrate and smoke as the counter ticks down towards zero with each successive move . 3.)Every move that makes a match, evokes a multiplier system that allows score to be gradually increased up to a factor of 10x, resulting in potentially incredible high scoring combos; it's very motivating to try to obtain these increasingly larger and larger multipliers. 4.)'Special' gems are awarded once the 10x multiplier level meter is reach and filled twice, resulting in a rare, but astronomical scoring opportunity. 5.)In addition to the regular 'Bejeweled Twist' matching game there are several other features; a Zen game (unending, no bombs and no tension), a Blitz game (5 minutes to get a new high score) and a Challenge game (where you need to accomplish certain goals to continue). Conclusion: A truly interesting addition to the Bejewel family of games; very addicting. Easily worth every cent of the less than $20.00 you pay to purchase. 5 Stars. Ray Nicholson

This new version of Bejeweled, "Twist", is an interesting twist (pun intended) of the game, but it is not the same. The original game is a little more mindless, which is a good thing. You can go on for a while enjoying the dropping jewels without too much brain effort, but still enough to make the game challenging. Well, Twist is more complex, in that you actually twist around the jewels in a circular format to form the triple jewels to gain points. Whew! It has great graphics, especially between the levels, but still, ok, not the same as the original.
