The Beka Paper Holder Easel is the 48" easel frame made of natural hard maple that features the Beka hinge which reduces the possibility of pinching and 2 great 24"x24" art surfaces. Also includes a center storage tray that doubles as a locking system and a paper cutter at the top of the easel. This Beka easel features a Chalkboard on one side, a Magnet Board on the other side, and red plastic trays.

Okay, I did a LOT of research before buying this easel. Boy oh boy did I research!!!!

What sold me about this easel was, after going to the Beka website, I learned that each piece is individually replaceable for a very reasonable price. If you go through Beka then it's something like $25 or $30 for the chalkboard and/or dry erase board. Everything else is pretty inexpensive also.

I, however, did NOT get this from the company listed here on Amazon, but I got mine from www.heirloomwoodentoys.com. They actually allowed me to custom order the easel the way I wanted it (ie: magnetic or not, adjustable lets or not, paper cutter or not etc) and the price that I bought it for was LESS than Beka had it listed for on their website! AND they had free shipping! I'm not doing a review on Heirloom Wooden Toys (they sell the 4 in 1 flipping easel here on eBay) but I was very pleased with their customer service.

Okay, now the one complaint I have about this board is the whiteboard. It's advertised as a magnetic whiteboard. Only, when it came, there was a sticker on it that says "This is a washable surface, not a wipe off board, use wipe off markers with care"

So that is NOT what it advertised as at all. It's a metal sheet. It is reversible, so you can get a lot of use out of it still, but still.... they should specify that in their advertisement of it. My 3 year old has gotten paint on it (while painting on paper) and the paint does stain.

So it's kind of a disappointment to me, but not that big of one to hate it. AND I haven't contacted Beka, or Heirloom Wooden Toys about it yet, but I'm sure when I do they will handle it nicely.

The only other complaint I have is that while it IS foldable, it's only when you take off one of the trays. So if you custom order it and you want it to fold easily, then get the folding option.

All in al it's a great product. I just wish I had known a bit more about it before I purchased it so I could have made some different choices with my options.
