4.0 out of 5 stars Not Necessarily What is In the Book of Concord April 22, 2007
Format:Hardcover
This book provides an invaluable resource for the study of the Lutheran Confessions of the 16th century, as those Confessions were gathered and placed in the Book of Concord. The problem with the book is that it does not necessarily offer the form of those Confessions as they are contained in the Book of Concord.

The Book of Concord of 1580, in Germany, and the Latin edition from 1584, contain the normative, authoritative and official form of the Lutheran Confessions.

This volume offers the forms of those Confessions that scholars today think should have been used in the Book of Concord, not necessarily the ones that are in the Book of Concord.

But, to their credit, the editors of this volume do not claim to be presenting a critical edition of the Book of Concord.
