The Bel-Art Scienceware 420300000 Non-Vacuum Desiccator is a thick-walled drying chamber that has a cylindrical cover with a flat top to provide greater volume than standard hemispherical covers and a neoprene O-ring that forms a secure seal to preserve thin-layer chromatography plates, dried materials, chemical standards, and other moisture-sensitive samples. The desiccator measures 20.6cm high with an inside diameter (ID) of 14.9cm. It has a transparent polycarbonate top for a clear view of contents and resistance to shattering, and a white polypropylene bottom that resists chemicals and can be used with incandescent crucibles supported on high-heat plates. Its 14cm diameter x 0.32cm thick, rigid, perforated polypropylene plate supports samples and sets on an inner ledge, leaving space underneath for desiccant. The plate is removable and can be replaced with Scienceware High-Heat Desiccator Plates (sold separately) to support hot crucibles. A ridged knob on the top can be used to remove the top from the bottom. This desiccator is for use with disposable or reusable desiccant. It is not recommended for use with organic solvents because they may cause fractures in the polycarbonate top.
