Poor Lord B,

This review is from: the Beleaguered Lord Bourne (Paperback)
This book was a fun Regency Adventure.
Lord Bourne is back from the wars and meets Jenny storming across his garden attached to a trap. She is irate, he is bewildered. He assumes that she is a village miss who has trespassed on his property. They share a passionate kiss. Lord Bourne accepts a dinner engagement with the Duke and discovers Jenny is his daughter. Oops! In the regency tradition, Bourne has compromised Jenny by kissing her... I actually enjoyed these characters as they developed and the story resolved itself. This is an early Kasey Michaels novel - not as solid as her current novels, but entertaining nontheless. As a result of this, I also purchased "The Top Lofty Lord Thorne" - the next in the series.

I remember loving Bride of the Unicorn many years ago. It introduced me to Kasey Michaels, and I found a few of her "alphabet" novels in my public library. I loved her humor and depiction of the regency era. My copy of Bride of the Unicorn was lost long ago in one of my many moves, and her more recent novels have not satisfied me. So, I'm back to reading her older, shorter "alphabet" novels on my Kindle. I'm so glad to find them! The Beleaguered Lord Bourne, The Toplofty Lord Thorpe, The Ruthless Lord Rule, and The Enterprising Lord Edward all give her male characters center stage with her trademark humor. The Beleaguered Lord Bourne takes an old setup, the arranged marriage, and makes it hilarious. Jenny turns Kit's world upside down with the characters that she takes in. These novels are sweet and short. They are old-fashioned regencies, so you won't find the passionate, descriptive love scenes in Kasey Michaels's later, longer novels.

Another Hilarous Tale,
This review is from: The Beleaguered Lord Bourne (Kasey Michaels Collection) (Kindle Edition)
Kasey Michaels has written some wildly funny books including this one. I admit I have not been a fan of this author in her later novels, but these early tales had me laughing aloud. The outline of the novel is given already, but for those who read reviews before buying, go ahead and push BUY, you won't regret it, it's the best sort of pure laugh out loud fluff.
