5.0 out of 5 stars Belen Demise, March 2, 2011

This review is from: Belen Demise (Kindle Edition)
This is the second of the Sage Trilogy that begins in The Sage when American adventures sailed to Panama and began searching for lost Spanish treasure on the Las Cruces Trail. Although they find the treasure, their vessel collides with a tanker in Gatun Lake and sinks.
In the Belen Demise, they return to Panama, recover the treasure from the sunken boat, and depart Panama in another vessel, only to have their efforts thwarted by PDF pursuers and a storm that forces them to take refuge in the mouth of the Rio Belen. In the process, they damage the vessel's propeller and have to scuttle her to keep the treasure hidden from scavengers.
The Final Quest, the third book of the Sage Trilogy, concludes the adventure with a final attempt to recover the treasure from their sunken vessel in the Rio Belen.
Throughout the trilogy, lust for gold is the main theme and how it changes those who come under its spell. In real life, I admire those individuals who persevered and pursued their dream in search of Spanish treasure. The characters portrayed in this triology, had similar dreams and persisted despite numerous setbacks in their quest for the elusive treasure. I salute all such adventurers, real or imaginary, and offer this simple toast: Here's to gold and all those who lust after it.
