From the Back Cover

Belgrade is less polished jewel than diamond in the rough. Emerging from its turbulent recent past, the city is now staking its claim as one of Europe's latest hotspots. With a wealth of museums and a flourishing cafe-bar scene, it is culturally rich and warmly welcoming.

Whether you take a romantic sunset stroll through Kalemegdan Park, explore the quirky traditions of the Bohemian enclave of Skadarlija, or sample a fiery snort of
šljivovica on a floating Danube restaurant, Laurence Mitchell shows you how to get the most from this charming capital.

*All the sights--from Belgrade Fortress to a phantom station
*Nightlife--from hidden bars to the brazen "Silicon Valley"
*Walking tours--the city center, Old Town, and Zemun
*Strange statues, secret tunnels, odd museums
*Beyond the city--Novi Sad and Mount Avala
*Full-color maps

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent city guide, January 3, 2007

A truly complete guide to one of the most fascinating modern capitol cities in Eastern Europe -- Belgrade, Serbia. From discos to frescos this book describes all the sights in dramatic detail and with some color pictures as well. Since the wars in Yugoslavia, no tour guides have been published, this is the first one to be published since the breakup of the countries in Ex- YU and it is done very well.

3.0 out of 5 stars Just buy the Serbia Guide, August 16, 2007
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Belgrade: The Bradt City Guide (Bradt Mini Guide) (Paperback)
The page count (over 300) led me to expect a guide with extremely detailed information about Belgrade and its sites, restaurants, etc. What I did not notice in the description was the book's dimensions ... it's VERY small. Basically, what you are buying is the "Belgrade" chapter from Bradt's "Serbia" guide, with a minimum of additional information. If you plan on seeing more than just Belgrade, buy the Serbia volume and you'll get almost all the same info, plus info on the rest of the country. If your only destination is Belgrade, I suppose this will save a little room in your luggage.
