I have a lot of records that I love, but there are only a few that cross the border into pure bliss, the sort of record that you'll always come back to. Neutron 9000's 'Walrus' has it (good luck finding THAT), Electribe 101's 'Electribal Memories' has it, Cocteau Twins 'Treasure' has it. 'Belief' has it, believe me. Gee, where are you?

5.0 out of 5 stars 10 out of 5, April 22, 2004

Simply superb. All tracks are beautifully orchestrated with lush tones and harmonics. Deep meaningful lyrics underpin exquisite musical virtuosity. Innocence was and still are ahead of their time. Innocence exudes similar spiritual overtones to early Santana classics such as Welcome, Borboletta and Caravanserai.

Their musical greatness is probably magnified by their absence. If only they would return with more.

5.0 out of 5 stars Deep, mystic, sexy, inspirating, July 30, 2003
By
This review is from: Belief (Audio CD)
I bought this album around ten years ago... in vinyl, now is really hard to find in CD, is great to find it here even when imported and expensive, I pay for it again !

It is difficult to classify, they really took a big step ahead in the 90's, even today this music sounds ahead of our time. It is difficult to compare and describe: mellow trance, mystic, house samples, suggestive and sexy velvet voices, inspirating, brilliant guitar arrangements melted with the rich texture of synthesizers...
Today we would call this music as "naked music", "chill out"... but I insist that really even today sounds fresh and new!

I put five stars with no doubt !!!

since Belief was sold in 1991 it has still be my number 1 soul and belonging to my top 10 most favourite records ever made. I also have all CD-singles that contain most beautiful remixes.

Hope will will hear from them in the millenium!

5.0 out of 5 stars A mellow, yet engaging work of art!, May 4, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Belief (Audio CD)
Every once in a while, an album comes along with touches that make it a classic. Innocence's BELIEF LP is one of those albums. The first time one hears "Let's Push It", they are instantly transported into a mellow oasis of sound. The incredible combination of soothing instrumentals and Gee Morris' voice create a sound experience, the likes of which I've never heard since. I'm a bit partial to the tracks produced by Jolley & Harris, as they all seem to share that unique magic that works so well with Gee's voice. Both "Belief" and the subsequent "Build" LP will become a quick favorite of anyone into UK Soul. They've been favorites of mine for nearly 10 years. If only there was more like this!

5.0 out of 5 stars Quality Music for Audio Heads and Thinkers, December 8, 1998
By A Customer
This review is from: Belief (Audio CD)
Harking back to the days when this album was released, this is true classic for the present and future. Well known in the UK, there is little exposure available to this album due to its more often peaks of brilliance. this not meant to sound conceited, but during a revolution in music genres this album shines. From more of a point that this album cannot fail to seek out mid era pink floyd "enthusiasts" to those in seek of a real peice of escapism. The whole album needs to be listened to from beginning to end for its full effect. There is an amazing section of sampling, with samples of brilliance from Roger Waters and Nick Mason in real pink floyd guitar depth.

This album will not fail to stimulate your emotions of life and loves.

5.0 out of 5 stars Innocence - The British Band from the early 1990's, September 1, 2011
This review is from: Belief (Audio CD)
If you love a blend of Smooth Jazzish/R&B/Techno Dance with Sade-like vocals you will enjoy this album. One of my all time favorites. Unfortuntely, INNOCENCE (led by vocalist Gee Morris) a British Band, only made two albums (as far as I can determine and own). If you love this album (Belief), then get your hands on their second album titled: BUILD (I finally found one from Amazon last year at a decent price - equally as good as BELIEF.

5.0 out of 5 stars HAS A DOORS' TRACK, July 29, 2011

The tracks on my cassette are different from that which is listed at Amazon. I have: Silent Voice|Let's Push It|Reflections|RIDERS ON THE STORM/Natural Thing|Matter of Fact|Higher Ground|Remember the Day|Moving Upwards|Come Together|LETS PUSH IT (dub) I think this simply an incorrect listing on Amazon.

These are smooth R&B sounds/ dance tracks/ jazz instrumental featuring Gee Morris who reminds me of Sade. Lyrics included for all non-instrumentals except the Doors' "Riders on the Storm" which has been slowed up, mellowed out, more drums added, and turned into a dance song.

The jazz fusion has a Grover Washington smoothness to it. You can't go wrong at the inexpensive price this album is being offered.

5.0 out of 5 stars Suprise ! An Excellent CD, January 14, 2011
This review is from: Belief (Audio CD)
I got this in a big LOT I bought at an auction. I went through the CDs I did not know sampling a bit of each song if it was gonna even stand a chance to make my 2500 CD collection. When I put this one on I played every song all the way through untilo it was sadly over. THAT says something. It's fantastic. Read other detailed reviews here if you want details... every review is a 5 or 4. This would be fresh if it just came out today. I like albums where the musicians work together to create a sound rather than try and dominate the song with their part. It's a $2 CD NEW here on Amazon- GET IT.
