Book Description

April 12, 2006

Think. Feel. Dream. Believe.

"Inside each one of us is a BeliefWorks that takes the raw potential of belief and creates a one-of-a-kind worldview driving everything we do. Our BeliefWorks manufactures the prism through which we see life and magically transforms what is into what we believe it is."

The line between "the way it is" and what could be is often no more than a belief. As author Ray Dodd notes, what we believe is a riptide guiding the thoughts we think, the words we say, and the decisions we make. Belief touches every part of life; defining organizations, shaping trends, dividing families, and even igniting terrorism.

BeliefWorks, Ray Dodd’s follow up to The Power of Belief will turn your mind inside out, casting a fresh light on how we love, work, play, and what holds us back from the life we desire. Discover seven secret keys for unlocking the true power of belief and put this extraordinary force to work for you.

". . . an inspiring, practical road map for creating the kind of life we all long to live." —Patricia Aburdeen, author, Megatrends 2010

“Dispelling the myth that we are frail biochemical machines controlled by genes, leading edge science now emphasizes the starring role our experiences and perceptions play in regulating our biology and behavior. BeliefWorks expands upon this awareness, offering insights into how beliefs create every aspect of our personal reality. 5.0 out of 5 stars A Refreshingly Different Point of View, May 8, 2006
By
S. Marshall "newdreamer" (Boulder, CO United States) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
This review is from: BeliefWorks: The Art of Living Your Dreams (Paperback)
This surprisingly insightful book starts with the words, "This is a book about magic. Real magic." Author Ray Dodd states that we all have a "BeliefWorks", a human belief factory that affects everything we say, do and think. The magic he refers to is how our "BeliefWorks" manufactures the lens we see life through creating a one-of-a-kind virtual reality that transforms what is into what we believe it is.

In simple terms, Dodd describes what beliefs are and how they are often not what we think. As a filter of our perception they play a major role in what we create in our lives. He gives an easy to understand overview of how to harness, "the true power of belief" to guide us in more fulfilling directions.

Unlike approaches that advocate "positive thinking" or "affirmations" which do not address underlying beliefs, this refreshing book rings of truth presenting real solutions for lasting change in each of our lives - as well as the potential for productive as well as harmonious workplace environments, reduced political strife and even world peace.

Dodd's approach is sincere and gives many examples from his work with people and organizations.

Using the seven keys for unlocking the power of belief from this book, my relationships, work environment and finances have taken a turn from ordinary to extraordinary. As a result of this book, I have personally experienced miraculous peace in a once stressed work environment, renewed energy and a newly ignited love life.

Thank you for this perfect gift Mr. Dodd!

5.0 out of 5 stars Create Your Own Dream, September 28, 2006
By
Simeon Hein "Planetary Intelligence author" (www.OpeningMinds.info, Boulder, CO, USA) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
This review is from: BeliefWorks: The Art of Living Your Dreams (Paperback)
In BeliefWorks, Ray Dodd shows us how to transform our limiting, negative belief systems into ones that empower and enhance our life experience. The book is filled with numerous examples, real-life situations, and parables that show us the importance of self-awareness and a close examination of our belief systems. BeliefWorks is a primer for overcoming fear and increasing our well-being without resorting to complicated self-analysis. Dodd shows us how to reclaim our energy and natural power by recreating our identity and perception of ourselves as conscious, independent, free-willed decision makers.

5.0 out of 5 stars This is one of my top 3 books for 2006, it's a must read, September 18, 2006
By
This review is from: BeliefWorks: The Art of Living Your Dreams (Paperback)
When Hampton Roads Publishing contacted me about this author, I said I was open. So they sent me the book. And it sat on my "to read" stack for about three weeks. One morning I was looking for my next book to read and it seemed to call out from the stack. Which was four down from the top. I chose to ignore it's pull and picked up the first one on the top. I tried justifying it with, "they are going to be on my show next, so I better get to reading the book."

The calling got louder and louder with each page I turned. I couldn't make any sense of what I was reading. I had to give up. I set that book back down on the stack and picked up this book that was now screaming. I started making mindful judgments. But..but..but..it was about beliefs. And I've already read tons, okay maybe not tons, but there must be at least 30 books underneath my reading belt on this topic.

And I began reading.

Belief Works: The Art of Living Your Dreams by Ray Dodd.

Hmm, okay. Copyright 2006, brand new. I scanned the TOC -- table of contents, then swished through to see how long the chapters were. "Thank goodness, some were short."

After the second chapter I was blown away. I didn't want to put the book down. I read a little, journaled, read a little, thought and journaled more. He seemed to be walking me through a thinking process, without asking me to take action. Wow, I must have been really needing this.

And then he got to the part of "personal agreements." In the back of the book is a glossary of terms and he gives the description as, "Agreement: A bargain, a deal; a pact you mkae with yourself. Also, a contract that defines and defends the point of view of a belief."

It seems like the puzzle pieces snapped into place. Thoughts of personal agreements I've made over the years, including my belief that in order to be well known you have to have a rags to riches story. And this is why I was creating my own self-fulfilling prophecy in this. I journaled for hours my way through this one and so many others.

This is not the only reason I recommend this book. Ray wrote this in a manner that is easy to digest. It doesn't make you feel bad in order to rewrite yourself. It was a delightful journey. I'm sad that I've finished the book, however, I'm thinking of going through it again -- and I've only done this with a select few in my lifetime.

So ladies and gentlemen, you want to read this book. Ray is going to be on the air with us on October 17th (www.letstalkmarketingshow.com for more info). I look forward to a challenging conversation about how beliefs keep us from achieving our desires. So you will not want to miss this show.

As Ray shares with us, we are living our dream right now. So, ask yourself if it isn't your desires, what can you do right now to shift your dream. We live our dream day and night, not just at night.
