Absolutely Fundamental Reading,
By Emil Torabi (Irvine, California) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Beliefs: Encyclopedia of Islamic Doctrine, Vol. 1 (Paperback)
The Encyclopedia of Islamic Doctrines is probably the most valuable book printed on Islamic beliefs and practice this century. In a time when the reality of this religion has been obscured from within its folds as well as from without, Shaykh Kabbani does an immeasurable service by elucidating and shedding light on its truth as it has been understood since the time of the Prophet himself by those who earnestly sought their Creator. It is thus understandable that such a man will no doubt attract vehement opposition from those who seek to distort and pervert religion for the sake of their own personal agendas. In wake of such hypocrites and the rising tide of opportunism, Shaykh Kabbani must be commended for striving so courageously despite the opposition of the corrupt and spiritually diseased -- those who do not even believe that the purification of the human heart is a fundamental element of any religious or spiritual practice.

The best representation on traditional Islam in English,
By A Customer
This review is from: Beliefs: Encyclopedia of Islamic Doctrine, Vol. 1 (Paperback)
Shaykh Kabbani deserves the thanks of the American community for helping to explain issues of Islamic doctrine that have divided the Muslim community over centuries. He uses the most reliable, traditional sources to expel the illegitimate ideology that grew from Najd in the 19th century. Allahu Akbar! Alluhumma sulle ala Sayyidina Muhammad!

A Wonderful Presentation of Traditional Islamic Creed,
By Corey Brand (United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Beliefs: Encyclopedia of Islamic Doctrine, Vol. 1 (Paperback)
If only there were more books like this available in the English language. English-speaking Muslims are flooded with polished books presenting corrupt and unorthodox assertions about God's attributes adopted by the Wahhabi/"Salafi" movement which present the Believer with the false delimma in that if you don't accept their literal interpretation of God having hands, feet, and eyes, and that He is literally sitting on the throne then you are rejecting God's attributes and therefore a heretic.Traditional Islamic creed asserts that the Believer accepts what the Qur'an and the Prophet (peace be upon him) have said about God while at the same time rejecting logical absurdities which entail God having a body and occupying time and space. The author clearly explains the traditional view while at the same time launching a well-documented refutation of the wahhabi/"salafi" assertions. A must read for anyone wanting to know more about God and traditional Islam as transmitted by the scholars of Islamic creed.

The book is a must read for all Muslims or all those interested in traditional Islam. It refutes the extremist Saudi sect version of Islam.

Cult leader provides a poor book.,
By A Customer
This review is from: Beliefs: Encyclopedia of Islamic Doctrine, Vol. 1 (Paperback)
Muhammad Hisham Kabbani has shown he is not at all representitive of the Islamic faith. His way of Islam is a religion obsessed with personality, particularly his. Worship of people, dead or alive is not what Islam is about, though this is certainly what Kabbani represents. A better place to look would be the popular book "Towards Understanding Islam" by Mawdudi or countless other works by more respected Muslim writers.
