5.0 out of 5 stars Take me away
I have come across 4 String's "Believe" cd earlier this week at one of my favorite record shops. I wasn't sure if I wanted to get it so I opted for Martin Gore's solo album "Counterfeit2". And then I was recently listening to a German import cd of trance music and on the second disc, it contained 4 Strings' "Day Time". I loved what I heard...

2.0 out of 5 stars ....a little disappointed
I must say that when I read the reviews on here I got pretty excited....so excited actually that I decided to buy this CD. I was hoping for a very spectacular dance/trance effort possibly matching other phenomenal trance artists like Alice Deejay, DJ Encore, Fragma or Ian Van Dahl, instead I got something that was mediocre at best... The only stand out tracks on here...

I loved what I heard. "Day Time" is a reminder of what I love about trance music, the angelic female vocals and the stunning melodies on the bpm scale of over 100. Something I would hear at a nightclub on a Saturday night. A couple of days later, I went back to the same record store and bought "Believe". Yes, the music is absolutely cheesy in that Ian Van Dahl, Ilo, and DJ Sammy sort of cheese but I loved the cd. Vanessa Van Hemert has a beautiful voice. Vocalists like Vanessa is what appeals to me to trance music. Her vocals lend an ethereal feel to the songs. The only flaws I found with the cd is that the instrumentals got a bit repetitive for me. I thought the group's strength is with their vocalist Vanessa. And the cheesiness of "Forever Young". Now how many artists and bands have written songs called "Forever Young"? I honestly could have lived without that particular song. Asides from flaws, I enjoyed "Believe" a lot more than I thought I would.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great EuroTrance/Dance/Pop from Nehterlands, May 10, 2003
By
andy (Cleveland, OH) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Believe (Audio CD)
Oh Man, the Gods of Great Music and Melody have smiled upon us again. This is an AMAZING Vocal EuroTrance album, produced and written by a Dutch DJ/Songwriter Carlos Resoort. What a talented Man!!!!! ALL, and I Repeat ALL Songs are Great. There are 1 or 2 Instrumental tracks, and those are Great too. Albums like this truly give a meaning to the phrase "Euro Quality".

So Who would enjoy this? Many Many people probably would. I think everyone who Likes a Song with a VERY BEAUTIFUL MELODY should enjoy this album. This is NOT JUST a Trance or Techno CD. NO, It is so Much More. Every Song has a Beautiful POP MELODY, and Enchanting Female Vocals.

If you are a fan of such groups as SYLVER, DJ ENCORE, LASGO, MILK INC, ALICE DEEJAY, IAN VAN DAHL, FRAGMA than you should definitely Buy this album. All these are in the same Beautiful Vocal EuroTrance style as 4 Strings. Also fans of ACE OF BASE shoul enjoy it (especially if you liked AOB's "Bridge" album).

Also people who like music by such artists as CELINE DION, DIDO, JEWEL, CRANBERRIES, MADONNA, SARAH MCLACHLAN, SIX PENCE NON THE RICHER, ALANIS MORISETTE, NATALIE IMBRUGLIA, CHER should also give 4 Strings a try. I personally think that 4 Strings is actually MUCH MUCH BETTER than any of these artists that I just mentioned. That's my Opinion.

A Best way to Describe 4 Strings is DIDO, but with some Trance/Dance touch. The melodies of ALL 4 Strings' songs are as Beautiful as DIDO's hits "Here With Me" or "Thank You". If you liked "Thank You" than just add a touch of Powerful Trance, and you'll have any of the 4 Strings songs featured on this album. It is Simply MAGNIFICENT.

There just is NOT a single bad song on this album. It is TOTAL QUALITY of the SOUND and the MELODY. There are MANY potential HITS on this album. All songs are Simply BREATHTAKING, from the Intro that leads into "You Take Me Away" to the "Believe" and the Outro. The album is PACKED with GREAT songs. "Diving" is just a Spectacular Song. "Forever Young" is a Remarkable BALLAD. "High On Life" is just HEAVENLY. I could go On and On about songs on this album, but the bottom line is that they are all Amazing.

So, Support this Amazing Act. Give this album a try, and It will make you "Believe" in the Power of Great Music.

I hope you enjoy this album as much as I did.
Thank You

5.0 out of 5 stars I Only Listen to This CD!!, May 13, 2004
By
This review is from: Believe (Audio CD)
I live in Seattle and listen to the popular high school owned dance radio station C-89 FM. I loved the songs "Take Me Away" and "Let it Rain" from the radio, but never knew who performed them. Last week I was researching some dance albums on Amazon before ordering them. I think I was ordering a Paul Van Dyk album when Amazon also suggested this CD. I looked at it and listened to some of the sample songs and was so excited that I had finally found some of the songs I had been looking for! I bought this CD along with a few other dance CDs and this is the one I keep coming back to. I keep craving the first 9 tracks of this album when I am listening to another new CD, so I go back to this CD again and I'm satisfied! It sounds SO good in my car as I'm driving in the sun with the windows down. I can't help but sort of dance in my seat. The vocals are so beautiful and the music is perfect! If you enjoy female vocals, you will LOVE this album.

4.0 out of 5 stars Positive Surprise, October 1, 2004
This review is from: Believe (Audio CD)
I'm normally not into this new trend of dance music when the Dj's add's a female singer to make the lyrics to his songs, It's pretty commercial and I wasn't impressed by Lasgo, Dj Sammy and Ian Van Dahl for example. But 4 Strings is diffrent, the singer here got a very beautiful voice you just can't miss out. She reminds me abit of the Ny Based dance group's IIO singer. Most songs here got great Trance feeling, at the same time the singer lights them up to new levels. "Take Me Away" the first single is probably the best example where the beats and sound match each other. Most songs are based on the voice of the singer, a few instrumental aswell but it's the songs with lyrics that are the best here. "Let It Rain" "Fly Away" and "Diving" are other highlights of this great debut. Perhaps too many songs included here (18) where a few aren't real songs though. "Forever Young" and "Summer Sun" are not covers either, but not the best of the album. Overall a positive surprise for me, I heard so much of 4 Strings and when I eventuallty took a look at them they were better then I thought.

5.0 out of 5 stars "All you need is already here...", February 16, 2005
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Believe (Audio CD)
4 Strings, the brain child of Dutch producer Carlo Resoot create a vocal trance MASTERPIECE with their first album "Believe." Containing the hit singles "take me away", "diving", "let it rain", Summer sun" and "day time" the album is a MUST BUY.

Most all the album tracks could have been singles. The best track on the album "Revelation" was shamefully unreleased as a single. With its thumping beat and Vanessa's emotional vocals over layers of sounds make rthe album worth the purchase alone.

The weakest track on here is "forever young" which is also the only slow song included.

The instrumental tracks amy bore a few people who find instrumental dance music repetitive. Fans of the genre will find this a seamless track by track journey into euphoria.

4.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic Mix of Vocals and Dance Music, July 7, 2003
By
Razwan (birmingham, uk) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Believe (Audio CD)
this album is quite amazing. it has fantastic tracks with vocals on on them. i will give a track by track review.

when i refer to singles i refer to each single as a certain single (like 2nd single) according to what it was for most of the world not just the us.

01 - this is a take from 'take me away' without but but with a bit of vocals. it gives a lovely start to the album.
02 - this song is a lovely mix mix of melody, dance beats and vocals. fantastic second single.
03 - another great vocal dance song with a stronger dance melody than take me away. this could be a single.
04 - fly away is similar to take me away but doesn't contain as strong vocals. it may sound weak at first listen but you'll be singing along after 2 or 3 listens.
05 - this is like the intro, only it is take from let it rain. 06 - let it rain is a fantastic song. but it could have been the 3rd single instead of the 4th. it has similarities to take me away but has a stronger chorus and is more dancy with better melodies.
07 - don't get me wrong. this is a great song but there we're better songs on the album to release after take me away as the 3rd single. let it rain, revelation or high on love would have been more successful. this is like take me away but it has weaker verses, stronger chorus and is less melodyic but more beaty.
08 - this is a fantastic song like let it rain but it would need a stronger chorus and verse to be a single. great album track though.
09 - now we enter the weaker part of the album. besides us is an over 6 min long instrumental track. it is quite nice but it really depends how much you like the music of the other songs. if you like the music to summer sun and like background layers you should like this.
10 - i don't see much point in this 1 and a half min interlude. it is not very good but is a great rest from the beats and stronger melodies. it has no backgroung layers and has a strange eastern melody with slower beats on top than the other tracks.
11 - this is a boring song. it has a slow beat like the interlude. but it has a even weaker melody. it has vocals but it sounds like the singer put no effort into it like the other songs.
12 - this is a lovely song. it has a loud layered melody, with lovely high pitched vocal chouruses. but it has a weak starting with a weak verse. once you listen to it all you will love it. this was the first single (did you know?+and it was released in 2000). but a different song would have made them more popular.
13 - this is my 2nd favourite track on the album (my first is let it rain). this has powerful vocals, great beats and a beautiful strong melody. it could be a successful single if it was released as a single.
14 - this is a long instrumental track with a eastern melody. if you like eastern music mixed iwth dance you will like this (i didn't)
15 - this has a slower beat than the other songs. it is close to being a ballad. you may not like it the first time you listen but you should like it after 2 or 3 listens. (i like it on my second listen)
16 - this is an over 9 mon long remix. it is like the original but it a different melody. if you ignore the time. you will like this as much a the original.
17 - another great vocal track with great verses and choruses. good idea to choose this song as the name of the the album.
18 - this is a short instrumetal piece from take me away. finishes of the album micely.

hope my review helps you and sorry if i made any mistakes.

4.0 out of 5 stars great CD of favorite hits!, March 5, 2004
This review is from: Believe (Audio CD)
This CD is very well done taking some great trance songs from DJ's and adding rythmic melodies and creative harmonies to the mix. This is not a continuos mix CD, but a collection. My Favorites are "Fly Away" and "Let it Rain" The only negative was the track "Forever Young", I cant stand it. Overall the CD is worth Getting.

4.0 out of 5 stars Mezmerizing Vocal Trance, February 4, 2004

This review is from: Believe (Audio CD)
I was a bit skeptical about 4 Strings' debut album but I gave it a try and found it to be better than expected. Most of the tracks on the album have a free spirited feel & scenic lyrics to them. Uplifting and filled with optimism makes this album a great choice for a rainy day.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Trance Album, November 27, 2003

I was kind of skeptical when I heard this was a good trance album to pick up because alot of times, these recommendations end up being more on the techno side. (Differences between techno and trance are for another forum, but those of you who listen to trance alot know what I mean). But to my surprise, this IS a great trance album. Compared to others like DJ Encore, Lasgo, and Kate Ryan (which by the way are albums I bought based on recs from this website and are good techno albums), the emphasis here are on the music, beats, and synths. Mix in Vanessa van Hemert's angelic, soul-pleasing voice and singing, you got a great, classic album that I never get tired of listening to. Fav songs on this album are: Revelation, Take Me Away, Summer Sun (Ibiza Mix), and Believe. The instrumental Besides Us is an awesome trance great for clubbing. Highly recommended!!!!!

I must say after hearing the singles "diving","let it rain",and "take me away" I was hooked on this awesome group. The whole album from start to finish is beautiful, euphoric, and leaves nothing to be desired! It's very trancey for the most part, and is perfect to dance too.By the way that chick "Vanessa" I believe it is ...wow she is a major hottie, and has a great voice...I see a big future for 4 strings coming up!4 strings is definetly the most new talented,(along with Belgian group Lasgo)This is definetly a must have for the true dance music enthusiast, and not CHEESY by any means, this is not garbage techno whoever said that is an IDIOT ...this is true dance music and none of that top 40'sw crap you are so used to hearing.
