5.0 out of 5 stars Important book...proven in practice
I live this book and it works.

From the moment we are born the world teaches limitations and separation from our essential unity. Transcendent thought is the key. Belief is the fertile ground of ideas and potentials of things unseen.

Any personal development book is going to be worthwhile if it gives any tidbits of information that can help a person improve their life. This book certainly does that. The 17 principles are well worth knowing and applying in your life.

This review is from: Believe and Achieve: W. Clement Stone's 17 Principles of Success (Paperback)
Any personal development book is going to be worthwhile if it gives any tidbits of information that can help a person improve their life. This book certainly does that. The 17 principles are well worth knowing and applying in your life.

I only rated this as a three-out-of-five stars because I found this book to be a little difficult to read through. These are indeed W. Clement Stone's principles but the book is not written by Stone and rather by authors from the Napoleon Hill foundation. To support the principles they cited other works which isn't necessarily a bad thing but it seems as though there is material quoted in every other paragraph and that is a bit much. There is a lot of, "this is what he (Stone) said and here is what other people have said to support it." It is difficult for there to be a continuous flow with this type of writing.

If this is your first personal development book then it is probably going to be worth its weight in gold and worthy of five stars. The 17 principles are going to change your life.

Personally, I would have preferred the book to be authored by Stone and not a summary of his beliefs and principles. Having read a number of personal development books, I think there are better reads out there, not necessarily because of content but because of readability.

I live this book and it works.

From the moment we are born the world teaches limitations and separation from our essential unity. Transcendent thought is the key. Belief is the fertile ground of ideas and potentials of things unseen.

Clearly, our main limitations are self created and Clement teaches a way through this paradox. You must leap out of doubts and fears projected into the future to find your true potential. You are trapped in this paradox and your personal evolution and success in life is a victim of it.

The mind clearly is a creative force and Clement knows it's true power. It seems like a lie you tell yourself but it works. Project the future you desire instead of the doubts and fears of the past.

Once you realize your nature is mostly robotic, once fully programmed by the world, you are prepared to break free of knee jerk reactions resulting from observations automatically reflected in the mirror of memory and the mirror of mind's projections, that is, a mirror seeing this self-created, mind fabricated, potential future. However, the mind's projections are seen as real as external observations by the subconscious. In this fact, there is a trick to be played that seems like a lie that allows our freedom and transcendence. This understanding can and does drive success that Clement teaches.

Without this trick, we are on autopilot without creative thought separate from our memories. We are simply trapped unable to break free to the next level of evolution and self understanding.

Practice what Clement says and you can slowly break free from this walking sleep. The subject and the object are one and this is the basis for creative acts and personal power. As within, so without. Try it and see what happens. I dare you.

If you are looking for a an inspirational book with good advice, this is it. Most everything has been said before, but he uses good examples of people that have made it in business. It is very positive in tone and is a must read for anyone starting a business or wanting to start a business.

This is an excellent book, and in my opinion ought to be taught as a first year college course to all students.
