5.0 out of 5 stars A Wonderful Tale, July 4, 2009
This review is from: I Believe Bunny: I Believe Bunny Series (Hardcover)
When I first received I Believe Bunny by Tish Rabe (llustrated by Frank Endersby) from Thomas Nelson's Book Review Blogger program [...] I could not believe the gorgeous illustrations. As my mother said, they make you want to go professionally copy them a make a border to around your child's room. They are just SO striking and pleasing, to a boy or a girl!

I found this new series to be interesting and a wonderful way to weave the bible into younger children's lives, in a way that they can understand. This book is based on Philippians 4:13 : `I can do everything through him who gives me strength'. While obviously very religious based, none the less, the tale is appealing to anyone under the concept of helping others.

From the moment I opened this book to read to my daughter, she was entranced by the illustrations and the basic story. The story begins with I Believe Bunny on a day when it is raining and wet. The butterflies ask him to come with them to find a dry place, but Bunny thought he should stay. The reason becomes clear, for it is as if God wanted him there, when he hears a call for help. A small mouse is caught in the river and needs help because he can't swim!

I Believe Bunny tries to save the mouse by being ingenious and grabbing a stick, even though he is afraid himself. When he realizes he can't save the mouse, he asks for help, and God sends the help he needs, and mouse is saved. Mouse and I Believe bunny then become fast friends!

My daughter loved that everyone helped at the end and said "yea God!" This was a wonderful tale of helping others, asking for God's help through prayer and receiving the help you need, and finding out that sometimes someone who you don't think of as a possible friend, can become your best friend!

My father already plans to use the book as an example for one of his children's sermons, as it is so easy for children to comprehend AND apply in their own lives!

I know I'll be giving this book for gifts for baby showers and birthday presents!

5.0 out of 5 stars Great book in a faith-based series, October 5, 2009
This review is from: I Believe Bunny: I Believe Bunny Series (Hardcover)
"Once upon a time
in a land hard to find
lived the I Believe Bunny
who was funny and kind"

So begins the brand new children's book, I Believe Bunny, the first in the I Believe Bunny series written by Tish Rabe. It's rhyming words and lovable animal characters made my daughter thrilled to read it....and not just at bedtime!

It's raining....and raining....and raining. Bunny isn't too happy about it either. Soon Bunny has to focus on something other than himself, as a small mouse is caught in the rapidly flowing river. Bunny calls for help, but no one is near. He isn't sure what he can do as a small bunny. He is even fearful. But as he tries to figure things out himself, he remembers to pray to God for help.

The book is based on Philippians 4:13.... "I can do everything through him who gives me strength". What an important lesson for children (and adults) to learn....no matter how small, no matter how seemingly unattainable, nothing is impossible for God.

Tish Rabe, best-selling author of over 80 children's books (including a favorite of mine - There's No Place Like Space (Cat in the Hat book), has created a series that children and parents will love. I'm excited to say that the 2nd book in the series is available now too:

4.0 out of 5 stars Illustrations are Sumptuous, August 21, 2009
This review is from: I Believe Bunny: I Believe Bunny Series (Hardcover)
I'm not sure I've ever confessed this publicly, but I'm a children's book addict. The room my two older children share contains exactly two beds, one nightstand, one chair and one HUGE bookcase that houses hundreds upon hundreds of books.

So it was with great joy that I received a copy of "I Believe Bunny" to review, part of Thomas Nelson's Book Review Blogger program.

Written by Tish Rabe, the "I Believe Bunny" is the first a new series of books designed to help young kids learn about believing, sharing and putting their faith into action. This particular books follows Bunny as he helps his friend Little Mouse who has fallen into a rain-swollen river. Bunny is overwhelmed with the problem and isn't sure what to do to mount a rescue. But he learns that prayer to a God who can overcome the impossible is always the place to start.

In all honesty, this book was a little too simplistic for my older children (ages 5 and 8). But it will be perfect for my toddler as she gets a little older. The book is written in rhyming verse, which I love, and the illustrations are sumptuous. I would buy it for the pictures alone. And of course, the message is Biblically strong and easy to understand, which makes it a win-win.

5.0 out of 5 stars Enjoyed The I Believe Bunny, August 10, 2009
This review is from: I Believe Bunny: I Believe Bunny Series (Hardcover)
I really enjoyed this book & loved sharing it with my 2.5 year old - it's size was bigger than I expected...I thought it would be smaller than it's 9 inch size. I loved that the pages are thick...it makes me think it will be a book that is still around (not destroyed by little fingers) to be able to share with grandchildren many years from now.

The illustrations are adorable & the story is a positive one. I love that it is teaching my little fella good values of prayer, persistence & friendship. I look forward to the rest of the series!

4.0 out of 5 stars A great bed time story!, August 8, 2009
This review is from: I Believe Bunny: I Believe Bunny Series (Hardcover)
The I Believe Bunny by Tish Rabe is an excellent book for very young kids. The illustrations are fantastic. They will definitely hold the child's attention. The story line is simple so that the kids understand it and want it read to them over, and over again. It's awesome that God's message can be made so simple a child understands it. It is a series that families will cherish for years to come.

My wife is a preschool teacher and said that her kids would love it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Encouraging to Me as a Mother, August 5, 2009
This review is from: I Believe Bunny: I Believe Bunny Series (Hardcover)
The I Believe Bunny, written by Tish Rabe and illustrated by Frank Endersby is our newest bedtime story. This story is the first in a new series aimed at teaching children how to put their faith into action.

I read it to EA and MC as their bedtime story a few nights ago and I could tell that they really enjoyed this delightful story. They were attentive as we read and had a good comprehension of what happened in the story as we reviewed it afterwards.

Based on the Philppians 4:13, "I can do everything through him who gives me strength", The I Believe Bunny is a story that demonstrates faith, courage and the power of prayer. In this simple poetic story the "I Believe Bunny" is faced with the challenge of helping a small mouse who is caught in a river and doesn't know how to swim. Instead of shrinking in fear during this challenge, the Bunny faithfully turns to God in prayer, "I want to save this mouse, but I don't know how."

After saying his prayer, he hears friends coming to help him and knows in his heart that everything was all right. He knows that God sent his friends to help him rescue the mouse. I was able to talk to the girls about how God hears and answers our prayers when we turn to Him.

The lesson in this book is clear, "Have faith in God's love and you will find that nothing you try is impossible for you".

This children's book focused on God's love for us, prayer, and having faith and courage is both refreshing and encouraging to me as a mother. It is a compliment to what I am striving to teach my children every day.

4.0 out of 5 stars Faith in Action, July 31, 2009
This review is from: I Believe Bunny: I Believe Bunny Series (Hardcover)
The I Believe Bunny is a delightful children's picture book based on the Bible verse Philippians 4:13 (NIV): I can do everything through him who gives me strength.

The main character, Bunny, must come to the aid of a mouse in trouble. Because he feels small and inadequate, he calls on God to help him. He discovers that God answers his prayer in an unexpected way.

It's a bit odd that the characters don't have names and I found the rhymes a bit 'off' in a couple of places, but that didn't detract significantly from the story. Children are sure to learn that, no matter how big or small they are, they can call on God and He hears them when they pray. In the story, the answer comes quickly. This book would be a great way to talk about all the ways God answers prayer and about God's timing, too.

The pastel illustrations by Frank Endersby reminded me of Beatrix Potter - very sweet and endearing. These combined with a story on faith makes this book an ideal bedtime story to read before nighttime prayers.

5.0 out of 5 stars Pray when you are in a dangerous situation and need God to help, July 29, 2009
A Kid's Review
This review is from: I Believe Bunny: I Believe Bunny Series (Hardcover)
I Believe Bunny is the first in a series to come by author Tish Rabe. I thought the watercolor and pencil pictures were really beautiful. I love to paint with watercolors also.

In this story, bunny finds a mouse that is going to drown in the river unless someone helps. Bunny prays and then Bunny's friends show up to help and save the mouse.

My mom always teaches me to pray to God when I need help and this book can help kids to remember to pray when they need help by thinking of this story. You never know when you are going to be in a dangerous situation and need God to help you.

I recommend this book for kids from ages 3 to 6, and even though I just turned 8, I'll be reading the rest of this series when it comes out. It's also a hardcover book that can be donated or given away when you're done.
