This story simply and profoundly walks through the true gospel. Children are given the capacity to understand biblical concepts while also "keeping it simple" through the wonderful illustrations and word useage. FANTASTIC.

5.0 out of 5 stars Highly recommended!, June 23, 2002
This review is from: I Believe In Jesus: Leading Your Child To Christ (Hardcover)
This beautiful little book is a great tool for a parent who wants to give a young child an understanding of who God is, why Jesus came to the world, and what one needs to do to receive Him into his or her heart. Small words are used, but the concepts seem to be straight on and orthodox, with each page ending with a Bible verse. Also, I must say that Pam Rossi's large and colorful illustrations add just the right touch to the book!

This book is a great gift for parents and their children. I sat down with my two little ones, and we went through it together. I really love this book, and so do they. I highly recommend this book to anyone with some children or grandchildren!

5.0 out of 5 stars a must have, July 18, 2000

This book helped me teach my children about Jesus and the wonderful gift of Salvation. The pictures are simple and they grabbed the attention of my two boys. John MacArthur did a wonderful job of descibing in words how kids need the gift that only Jesus can give.

I purchased this book for my two grandchildren, ages 1 year, and 3 years. I had it sent to my address so I could read it before mailing it to them. It is truthful, easy to understand, even for the very young, and exquisetly illustrated. It tells of the love of Jesus Christ for us. My daughter-in-law wrote to me, that my grandchildren love it, and she reads it to them before bed, and during the day when the 1 year old naps, the 3 year old trys to read it to my daughter-in-law. I recommend this book highly for those who want to teach their children about our blessed Savior. The book is truly outstanding, and a treasure for years to come.

5.0 out of 5 stars So sweet - So simple, March 5, 2005
This review is from: I Believe In Jesus: Leading Your Child To Christ (Hardcover)
This book is wonderful. My 4 year old and I both enjoy it. It is written well. It sparked questions from my child as well as teaching her the gospel in simple terms. This is a good purchase.

With a baby on the way and also with people asking me what good books are there for children, I thought I would take the time to read a children's Gospel book. Now I thought that this book written by John MacArthur would be great, however, after reading it I find myself being disappointed with the Gospel presented.

Dr. MacArthur in this book presents some great, deep theological truth, but then when it gets to explaining the Gospel, he fell short. While all the elements of death, burial and resurrection were present, the way in which the child was encouraged to respond was poor. Dr. MacArthur almost pushes the child into a "quick say this prayer" and asks the children "Do you want to go to heaven, if so come to Jesus." The child then has a space in the back of the book to write his / her name and date of conversion, and now has a promise of eternal life.

The reason I found this book disappointing is that MacArthur pushes the child with a pragmatic, humanistic message which is portrayed in the mindset of "do you want a great deal, then come to Jesus and get heaven." Also, I found it disappointing in that MacArthur fails to include repentance in the gospel message, it is simply "Believe and Receive", which I am shocked at, since MacArthur champions the cause of repentance in such books as "The Gospel According to Jesus."

Now all hope is not lost. I think this book can be used well. But only if the parent sits down and explains the concepts in the book. There is much good theology in this book but a parent will need to unpack it in such a way that does cause the "quick fill this in, you are saved mindset."

Overall, I give this book, 2 out 5.

5.0 out of 5 stars A wonderful way to assist in leading your child to Christ., February 17, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This is an excellent addition to the bible - when you are introducing Christ to your childs life. The book helps explain the importance of God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit in a childs life - in everyones life.
Excellent purchase - I'm sorry this book seems to be out of print - I wanted to purchase more but each seller put a limit on the number one could purchase. Also, the price varied from seller to seller - a seven or eight dollar dollar book ranging from seven dollars to forty dollars - the very same book. What's up with that?

i brought this book for my Sunday school class ages five through eight. The children really enjoyed the story and it's written in language they can understand. The art work is beautiful and it's a good book to introduce children to Jesus. I highly recommend it.
