Official "What Faith Can Do" Music Video

Biography

We began this worship project, IT IS WELL, by asking one question, “Can we do something unique?” There are many worship records; however, we were driven by the challenge to do something different, something Kutless. Although we’ve done a worship-oriented album (“Strong Tower”), we are in a different place right now and wanted this project to reflect our ... Read more in Amazon's Kutless Store

Editorial Reviews

2012 album from the Christian rockers. Kutless has continued to make massive impacts in the last several years being awarded RIAA Gold Certification for their worship-based album Strong Tower, in addition to Gold Certification for long-form video Live From Portland. This album was produced by Dave Lubben (producer of It Is Well) and Christopher Stevens/ David Garcia (Mandisa, Sanctus Real, TobyMac). The first single 'Carry Me To The Cross' is a worshipful cry and reminder about God's never-ending faithfulness and grace.

Just like that, Kutless has transformed from that new rock band from Oregon to the one new bands look up to, the band whose music is all over the radio in multiple formats, the band that's sold millions of records. Ten years after their debut self-titled album, Kutless is returning with their newest album Believer. I remember the first time I heard their debut hit single "Run" in 2002. I was a new believer and the band won me over with the emotional and prayerful lyrics from God's perspective: "Why do you run, why do you hide, oh don't you know I just, want to be with you, why do you run, why do you hide, oh don't you know I just, just want to be with you. Be with you." I can't listen to the last stanza without getting emotional: "Find a place of solitude, and I'll speak to you, As you pray to Me, Don't you know I'm waiting here, waiting for you to read and hear My Words, I'm waiting here missing the time the times we shared, well, please come to Me." From that point until now, I've been a major fan of the band. According to lead singer Jon Micah Sumrall: "We wanted our name to represent the impact of what Christ did for us on the cross. Christ took our beating and paid the wages of our sin (Romans 6:23). He took our cuts for us, leaving us "Kutless." Amen. That sentiment has been displayed in each of the band's solid albums.

The rockers on Believer are opening track "If It Ends Today," "All Yours," "Need" and "Gravity." Since guitarist Nick DePartee joined the band they have really found their niche musically and lyrically and seven of these new tracks and all four rockers were co-written by Nick. He also co-wrote their previous hit songs "Amazed," "You Save Me" and "Remember Me" from It Is Well. They are all instantly engaging and hook-filled songs that are filled with biblical Truth.

I'm giving this CD 4 stars because of the great lyrics. Unlike most Christian artists today, Kutless rarely writes two or three lines and repeats them ad nauseum.

Some fans are frustrated that this once hard rocking band has given way to the modern praise and worship phase that has taken over Christian music. I personally loved both Strong Tower and It Is Well because it was a nice change of pace for the group and they did it so well both times.

But it's when they branch out of the praise and worship style that the band now seems to have lost their identity. Maybe it's the production, maybe it's a desire to not alienate their new praise & worship fans, or perhaps these guys are just getting older and softer.

One thing that has been consistent with Kutless is that there is no doubt their message is to lift up God and lead others to Christ. While I miss the rocking days of Kutless, Sea of Faces, and Hearts of the Innocent, I'm glad this group is still around and spreading their message of God's love.

Believer is crazy awesome! Poignant lyrics, perfectly mixed rock and worship, and amazing voices create one of if not THE best Kutless album so far!
A powerful band being used by an even more powerful and loving God.
Drummer Jeff Gilbert's favorite song is the song he wrote called "I'm With You" while his wife was pregnant with their first child. Originally written for his son, Jeff realized how God's love comes from a father's heart.
Kutless will be going on a new tour at the end of February until May called the Life Is Loud tour. Any Kutless fan MUST see this tour it will NOT fail to Rock and Worship better than ever!

I discovered Kutless around the time of their self-titled album. I loved their hard driving Christian rock. Sadly (for me) every album since then has been a steady slide into this album which I would classify as Christian Alternative. Slow and peaceful: it bears more of a resemblance to Chris Tomlin than TFK or Pillar. If you like that stuff, more power to you. As for me, I am disappointed (although not surprised).

I really liked Sea of Faces and Hearts of the Innocent, but not this or the previous one. I guess I just don't like their new style.

Ok, just as a foreword, if you only listen to the 45 second previews of the songs, you will not be impressed. Not because it's not a great album, but because this is no just a rock album with incredible solo's, adrenaline raising vocals, etc... This is an album similar to Strong Tower, and It Is Well in that you need to listen to the entire song to truely grasp the full message of it. If you listen to each song in full, each song is filled with Biblical truths, and beautiful melodies.

When I first listened to the 45 seconds previews of each track, I was not impressed, but I own every single Kutless album, so I bought it anyways... Once I started listening to the entire CD, I was greatly impressed, and realized the 45 second previews did NOT do justice. This is another great album, by a great band. Thank you Kutless for sticking to your roots as a true, Christian band that writes music that honors and glorifies God every time, all the time. I look forward to hearing more great albums from you in the future, Lord willing! =)

"Believer" is my favorite track.

BUY IT!!!!
