Product Description

No sooner had multi-platinum three-time MTV VMA-winning, Grammy nominated, Island Records group Fall Out Boy wrapped up their North American tour with their reunited pals in Blink-182 over the weekend - they announce today the release of BELIEVERS NEVER DIE - GREATEST HITS, the first Fall Out Boy greatest hits collection, arriving November 16th internationally, and November 17th in the U.S.

The 18-track BELIEVERS NEVER DIE - GREATEST HITS will contain two rarities and two never released tracks. One of these, "Alpha Dog," will go to modern rock radio on October 19th as the new single from Fall Out Boy. Final track listing for BELIEVERS NEVER DIE - GREATEST HITS is listed below. Also included will be a DVD with Fall Out Boy's 14 Greatest Hit videos with exclusive band commentary.

MTV VMA Best Group of 2007, Fall Out Boy have built up a loyal following through relentless touring; performing more than 1,300 shows since their inception in 2000. The band's 2008 release Folie a Deux was certified RIAA Gold. 2007 RIAA double-platinum release Infinity On High debuted at #1 on the Billboard 200 albums chart. It was the follow-up to From Under The Cork Tree, their 3 million worldwide-selling Island debut of 2005, which spent 72 weeks on the Billboard 200 albums chart and spun off "Sugar, We're Going Down" (MTV2 Award winner for 2005), "Dance, Dance" (MTV VMA Viewers Choice Award for 2006), and "A Little Less Sixteen Candles, A Little More `Touch Me'." In April 2008, Fall Out Boy's RIAA platinum "****Live In Phoenix," their first long-form CD+DVD two-disc package debuted at #1 on the Billboard Music Video Sales chart. In addition, Fall Out Boy have also been selected as the #1 Mobile artist for this year according to Billboard Magazine.

Hailing from the Chicago 'burb of Wilmette, Fall Out Boy - Patrick Vaughn Stump (vocals/guitar), Pete Wentz (bass), Joe Trohman (guitar), and Andy Hurley (drums) - have appeared on the covers of Rolling Stone, Spin, Blender, and Alternative Press. They have performed on NBC's Saturday Night Live, The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, and Late Night with Conan O'Brien, CBS's The Late Show with David Letterman, ABC's Jimmy Kimmel Live, and more. They have won three MTV Video Music Awards and have received a Grammy nomination as well.

4.0 out of 5 stars "Believers Never Die: Greatest Hits" [REVIEW], November 17, 2009
By Antoine D. Reid "80sforever" (Durham, NC United States) - See all my reviews
(TOP 1000 REVIEWER)    (REAL NAME)
'Tis the season for a slew of greatest hits albums. The release of Fall Out Boy's 'Believers Never Die' may seem unnecessary or another ploy made by the record company to cash in with one of its biggest acts, and perhaps so, but listening to this compilation of the group's hit songs reminds the listener what's kept this group around and in the limelight for six years now. Let's get something out of the way. There are a few new tracks offered for the listener or FOB fan: "Alpha Dog" and "From Now On We're Enemies." The rest are some of the big singles released by the group from the past six years; the rest are tracks that were released on other albums or EPs. In all, you're getting a collection of the groups popular released singles and some added tracks that've made an impression.

The Good: Since 'Believers Never Die' focuses on the top singles from the group, this release has only the best of Fall Out Boy rather than filler tracks that never made an impression. The best tracks are from their album 'Infinity On High', where the group definitely hit its stride and released a series of catchy tunes that caught everyone's attention, including "This Ain't A Scene, It's An Arms Race", "Thnks fr th Mmrs", "I'm Like A Lawyer With The Way I'm Always Trying To Get You Off (Me & You)". It also includes the Fall Out Boy standards "Sugar, We're Goin Down", "Dance, Dance", and "A Little Less Sixteen Candles, A Little More "Touch Me"". This release includes some of the group's early releases (before they exploded onto the scene with 'From Under the Cork Tree' as well as songs from 'Folie A Deux', their 2008 that didn't make that big of a splash. With the standards being included an added tracks like their Michael Jackson "Beat It Cover" featuring John Mayer on guitar, this is a release for those who may not have all of the group's albums. You're also treated to all of the group's videos with commentary on the limited edition, making it a bit more worth the purchase. Though, the group (to me) is known more for their music than their videos with the exception of one or two.

The Bad: The 'bonus' tracks are just okay to me. When stacked against the group's older material, the tracks seem a tad bit weak and forgettable. As with any greatest hits package, the weakness is that since the music has previously been released, any real fan of the group will already have purchased a majority of these songs. The new songs "Alpha Dogs" and "Believers Never Die" are iffy tracks; perhaps worth downloading the mp3s from Amazon.com separately but they don't sell the album by themselves.

In all, it's a nice collection of music. If "Believers Never Die" accomplishes anything it shows off the best and the talent of the group for producing infectiously addictive songs. It's a must own for any real Fall Out Boy fan; it'd be a nice purchase for someone who may have only purchased one or two albums from the group in the past. Definitely worth checking out.

Listen To These: "Beat It", "This Ain't A Scene, It's An Arms Race", "From Now On We're Enemies"

1.0 out of 5 stars Greatest Hits, Fall Out Boy?, November 22, 2009
Serious!? Sounds like a they are geeting greedy. Nowdays you can just make your own "Greatest Hits" album. Its called burning a mix Cd or creating a new playlist on your ipod. If you dont have all the albums your friends probably do to make this album. I wouldnt waste my money. But thats just my opinion.
