Decent bag for 11.1", June 4, 2010
This bag works very well for my Sony Vaio TT 11.1" laptop which fits snugly inside. The power brick and AC cord fit well in the side pocket. There are several compartments in the side pocket for storing cell phone or MP3 players. The polyester outside of the bag should be easy to clean. The inside main compartment is red and fuzzy with an adequate amount of padding. The side pocket is red and polyester. It was not too heavy to carry around. In addition to the shoulder strap, there is a top handle for carrying it like a briefcase.
The two things I was disappointed about were: 1) the shoulder strap is sewn to the bag on each side (no hooks), so it can't be switched out and 2) my bag didn't come with the broad red shoulder pad on the strap; all I got was a plain skinny black strap. The lack of the red shoulder pad makes the bag look a whole lot plainer. There are only a few tiny red accents on the outside and the zippers.
I have decided to keep the bag, since finding a bag for an 11.1" laptop has proven difficult. If they would redesign the bag with a detachable shoulder strap and make the strap look like it does in the picture, I would give it five stars, but this one gets four.

Perfect minimalist bag - for those not wanting a sleeve., June 16, 2010
I purchased this bag for my Alienware M11x. I had a great deal of difficulty finding a suitably sized messenger style bag for this sub-notebook but not as small as a netbook system (11.6" display), and I didn't want to settle for a sleeve as I wanted to also be able to carry some accessories with the system. This Belkin notebook messenger bag fits the bill almost perfectly. The bag is well constructed and has the standard array of pockets for your miscellaneous pens/pencils, portable music device, minor cables and the like.
The padded notebook pocket fits my M11x comfortably along with plenty of room for the power brick / cable, Logitech M705 mouse and a wired Xbox 360 controller without showing any unattractive bulge in the bag.
The 2 outer front pockets, while nice for a portable music player or some other exceptionally thin device, are otherwise useless and could have been omitted without any less functionality in the bag. I found the 2nd front pocket (the red section on the front) is bit difficult to use, the zipper pull commonly got stuck behind the curved fabric opening, making closing the pocket a bit of a pain.
The red padded segment of the strap shown the main picture above is not included with the bag (at least it wasn't with mine) - I suspect the picture is of the larger 15" model of this bag. Also, while it is not of great concern, I would have preferred if there was a greater selection of colors, as I am not partial to red.
Overall I recommend this for someone looking for a suitable bag to carry a sub-notebook / netbook system and some basic accessories. It is not a carry-all and has a few minor drawbacks, but considering the limited selection of bags in this size and style - this is easily at the top of that short list in my book.

So Pleased With This Belkin 10-12 Inch Netbook Bag, April 23, 2011
I bought this bag to carry my Gateway 10.1" netbook and associated gear. For me, the bag is just about perfect in every way. Getting the netbook into and out of the bag is very easy; the netbook is well-cushioned; and the bag has plenty of space for the external power supply, wireless mouse, ethernet cable (just in case there is no wireless on the road), flash drives, and other miscellaneous stuff. There is also space for my compact, external USB optical (CD/DVD) drive when I choose to carry it.
I am impressed with the thoughtful design, e.g., lots of pockets, some shallow (flash drives), some deep (cell phone). There is also a separate, quick access pocket for boarding pass, passport, rental car papers, and other ID. The zippers for the main section, where the netbook is placed, open the top and go down the sides. In other bags I looked at, the zippers only opened the top; they did not go down the sides. Putting the computer in those bags was more difficult, as the top opening seemed to be a bare minimum, the computer barely going in. Check other reviews for what I am trying to say here. With this Belkin 10-12 bag, the zippers open the pocket on 3 sides; getting the computer in and out of the bag is no problem whatever.
Yes, as remarked by other reviewers, the adjustable shoulder carry strap is sewn directly onto the bag; it cannot be unclipped as in other computer carry bags. That was a little bit of an irritant, but not a show-stopper. If I want to carry the bag by the top handle, I just stuff the shoulder strap into the side pocket, and close the side pocket with the top velcro tab. Not an issue.
Amazon's photo shows a broad red strap running diagonal to the bag. My bag's exterior and strap is all black. The three zipper handles are red and the quick access pocket shows some red at the opening. Other than that, the entire exterior of the bag is black. The interior is red.
The materials and workmanship make this a very strong and durable bag. The bag will last longer than the computer. Worth every penny. I am as pleased-as-punch with this purchase. Mark me "Highly-Satisfied".
