I've been using this 15N1 card reader with my G5 PowerMac, iBook, and PowerBook, and it's worked 100% great for the past year. Like most Belkin products, it comes with a Lifetime Warranty, so you're covered forever against defects, problems. It always mounts my SD Cards and CompactFlash Cards instantly, and the "On" or "Activity Light" is big and bright, so you know when data is being accessed. I was surprised at its size: it's about 3" x 1.5" by .5" so it's very compact considering all the types of media it can take. The Mini-USB plug-in port is on the back, not the side, which is a good design. The Mini-USB to Device Plug-in cord is 6 feet long, which is complete overkill but excellent...I've never seen a card reader with a 6 ft cord before! There's a plug-in port for powering the reader up, although there's no AC/DC converter furnished. Apparently that's an option, though not required for use. In my experience it works great off of the USB 2.0 bus power. 5 Stars for this one!

It does not support media cards over 2GB. This information should be part of the technical details/specs of the unit. No one should have to read consumer reviews to find this out. Belkin is now off my list as a peripheral product provider.

The reader works only on cards smaller that 1GB !!!!

However they do not mention it anywhere. Very disappointing.

Just bought the Belkin USB 2.0 Multimedia Reader and Writer (product number F5U249V) and found that it doesn't read the 4GB SDcards, as some others have noted. It is also has proven to be unreliable - when a card is inserted, it doesn't necessarily recognize the card. It required unplugging the mini USB cable and plugging it back in. A shame, Belkin products used to be very reliable. I will be taking this Belkin product back.

Bought this at Fry's when my old freebie card reader was ruined by a relative or friend. Needed something for my new 5D Mark III SLR and since the files are so large, I have larger sized SD and CF cards. Not even going to consider opening this. Should have known better than to buy spur of the moment like I did when I normally take a week to research something like this. Thanks to the previous reviewers before me. Shame on you Belkin for peddaling inferior outdated products to consumers. Was never big on you before, never will buy from you again.

I have had this one for three years and use it for my Nikons. I have SDHC and the large CF memory cards. It is fast and simple to use. I am getting another for someone for Christmas right now!
NOTE: This review was written 4 years ago. Now these have changed. They are more cheaply made, and they don't take SDHC cards. My old one finally gave up the ghost.

Maybe 5 years ago this was an ok product, but today it is outdated and isn't working with even low end current memory cards. I spend $15 on a 4gb card to put into a photoframe and was annoyed that this reader apparently can't handle the "high capacity" (4gb!) cards. Buy something newer.

Product claims to be compatible but can't get it to work on my iMac. After spending 45 minutes on the phone with tech support, all she could do was apologize for the product not being compatible with my iMac! False advertising?? Will not buy a Belkin product again.
