Does not work with any Intel based Mac, according to Belkin's website. I made the mistake of not researching it ahead of time.

Doesn't work!,

This is a software-controlled device, does not have any method to switch manually (as you might expect,) and does not come with any cables.
The problem is that the device simply doesn't work: I have tried belkin's software, on both windows xp sp2, and mac os x 10.4. The device does not switch between port one and two--ever, it is stuck on port one. Save your money and buy something else, this is a bad deal.

No customer support, broken product,
By Tallas (Rochester, NY United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Belkin 2x1 USB Peripheral Switch (Personal Computers)
I bought this thing to act as a bottom-of-the-barrel KVM switch for a USB keyboard and mouse. Yes, the thing only has one output, but let me continue: I was able to hook this up to a powered USB 2.0 hub (in this case my monitor), and have it output everything on that hub to a PC and a Macbook.
In theory this should have worked, and indeed it was able to output to one computer correctly (the 1st output). However, either a hardware or software problem caused the second output to never be switched to (using a key combination). For a while I simply kept this on my desk, swapping the 2 USB outputs to act as a switch. I tried it as a conventional device as well, and never got the software to switch there either. I contacted Belkin about this, was given a "sorry our customer service is overwhelmed" message, this about 6 months ago. I haven't heard from them yet, and never got an RMA either. In short, this product was broken, and Belkin's support is nonexistent. Buyer beware.

Printer Switch,

A Low Cost alternative to Wireless Switching. This Printer share device works exactly as designed. Flawless, quick switch from one computer to another. Easy to install the software on both computers, plug in the cables to your usb ports, and "presto"! works Great. Only bad part is cables are not provided :~(

Excellent. It works great and is simple to use. I use it with a multi-function printer/scanner (HP PSC 1315xi) and I have no problem either printing or scanning from either PC.

Not Automatic,
By
This review is from: Belkin 2x1 USB Peripheral Switch (Personal Computers)
The product was difficult to configure and did not work as expected. I expected that the printer would AUTOMATICALLY be available to two different notebook computers via USB. In reality, software is involved plus the need to click on an icon in the System Tray. Even so, the switching did not produce consistent results. Both notebooks were running Windows XP Home Edition.
It was easier to manually switch the cables so I'm not using the device at this time.

device doesn't work with Macs,
This review is from: Belkin 2x1 USB Peripheral Switch (Personal Computers)
This device does not work with Macintosh computers running Mac OS 10.3 OR HIGHER. This information is NOT shown prominently on the product page on Belkin's web site; you have to find an obscure tech support page to find this. This means that any computer purchased since 2005 will not be compatible with this switch. They were thus far unable to give me a timeframe for a new driver release.

not a keyboard switch,
By
This review is from: Belkin 2x1 USB Peripheral Switch (Personal Computers)
the device works by one of the two computers pulling the external device into its control.
ths probably works with printers and scanners, but you can't use it with a keyboard/mouse I have it connected to my pc and laptop with the intention of sharing the keyboard and mouse. From the laptop keyboard I can PULL the usb keyboard over. but then the pc has no keyboard attached and so can't pull it back. If the CTRL-F11 key stroke was a toggle it would be ok, but it isn't. to switch a keyboard requires a mechanical switch. fortunately i can use it for a scanner instead
