4.0 out of 5 stars One of the best computer repair kits for the price
I've been fixing computer for longer than I care to admit and have gone through quite a few tool kits. This kits has all the basics: demagnetized ratcheting screwdriver, long nose pliers, wire strippers, pocket screwdriver with standard and phillips ends, anti-static wrist strap, allen wrenches, tweezers, IC extractor, parts retriever, tweezers, 6" phillips bit,...

1.0 out of 5 stars Not good enough for computer work
I am very disappointed of the low quality. The needle nose pliers do not close tightly enough to cut common Cat5 wire, the strippers are not capable of stripping wire without nicking, the strippers can only tear wire in two instead of cutting, the pliers' edges are sharp and will nick every wire bent, the long phillips bit would work well for motherboard screws if the...

This review is from: Belkin 36-Piece Demagnatized Computer Tool Kit with Case (Black) (Personal Computers)
I've been fixing computer for longer than I care to admit and have gone through quite a few tool kits. This kits has all the basics: demagnetized ratcheting screwdriver, long nose pliers, wire strippers, pocket screwdriver with standard and phillips ends, anti-static wrist strap, allen wrenches, tweezers, IC extractor, parts retriever, tweezers, 6" phillips bit, metric sockets, standard bits, phillips bits, torx bits, and an 8 compartment spare parts box with some useful spare parts like jumpers. The only things that I normally use that are not in this kit are diagonal cutters that I use to make network cables (though you can use the cutters on the pliers, I like a separate cutter), and a mini screwdriver set I use on laptops. I have personally used the 55-piece kit at work for 3 years now (because the company chose that kit - can't argue with free), so I can attest to the quality of the tools. The case is wearing out badly - mostly the elastic is all shot, but the tools have lasted just fine. Since the tools are the important part, I really can't complain.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great tools, January 23, 2008
This review is from: Belkin 36-Piece Demagnatized Computer Tool Kit with Case (Black) (Personal Computers)
These tols are great for tearing down computers. I work as a computer examiner and needed tools to remove hard drives and this set has "almost" everything I need. A small flashlight would makes this kit the best.

This review is from: Belkin 36-Piece Demagnatized Computer Tool Kit with Case (Black) (Personal Computers)
I was looking for an alternative to the same size Fellows tool kit, and I was very satisfied with what I found here. At the same price, this product is alot better quality.

1.0 out of 5 stars Not good enough for computer work, October 26, 2011

This review is from: Belkin 36-Piece Demagnatized Computer Tool Kit with Case (Black) (Personal Computers)
I am very disappointed of the low quality. The needle nose pliers do not close tightly enough to cut common Cat5 wire, the strippers are not capable of stripping wire without nicking, the strippers can only tear wire in two instead of cutting, the pliers' edges are sharp and will nick every wire bent, the long phillips bit would work well for motherboard screws if the head were of the proper size to fit common screws, the case arrived with several large oil stains inside and out that cannot be removed, and the tools all smell badly of low quality Chinese oil.

I did not expect the tools to be of high quality, but I was hoping that the kit would at least be good enough to do common PC repairs. The little screw bin is better than mixing screws in a plastic baggy, and the sockets can work well enough since most PCs do not require any precision for case screws, but over all the kit is a liability that causes the user to use several minutes to complete a simple job that could be done in seconds with good quality tools.

I would recommend skipping this kit and investing in some good quality tools instead.

4.0 out of 5 stars Meets most of my needs, February 5, 2009
This review is from: Belkin 36-Piece Demagnatized Computer Tool Kit with Case (Black) (Personal Computers)
The Belkin 36 piece demagnetized computer tool kit contains almost everything needed to change my internal hard disk drive of my mac book(the t8 torx and the screwdriver).
The cons are most of the things included aren't of much practical use for a simple upgrade or a simple fine tuning for an average user. They should include precision screw drivers. The long nose plier isn't very good, the spring in between is of really low quality and makes undesirable noises.
conclusion, good enough for average use but contains quite a lot of stuff that's not needed for an average user.

5.0 out of 5 stars Everything I needed..., May 26, 2011

Nice little tool set. Nothing extravagant but very useful. Ground strap is of same quality of Belkin Anti-Static Band sold around $8 except the loop the Velcro runs around on the separately sold model is made of metal instead of plastic(I just double ground for added mental relief). Tools are nice. Nothing heavy duty needed for computer work. I have extra large(glove size) hands and the tools fit comfortably in my hands. Box for spare screws, jumpers, etc came in VERY handy as I used this for my first build. I'm an auto mechanic and am used to having something like this available for storage. Case is made of durable synthetic leather and holds everything well. Case could have an inside or outside pocket(to store things like small tubes of thermal paste) but its the cheap one.

This is a Christmas gift for a programmer, and I was a bit nervous buying it. I don't know much about computers, but when this arrived I was rather impressed. The leather case it comes in is very nice, and bigger than I expected. I definitely recommend this.

I won't waste time with a long review because any person who needs to do stuff with computer or electronic equipment would be remiss not to grab one of these kits, demagnetized tools, anti-static wrist strap etc.. and lots of neat tools that do come in handy, and the tools feel sturdy/well built, so go ahead and grab this item as a gift for yourself or someone who could use a handy computer repair toolkit like this one- you will not regret the purchase
