Outstanding value, great level of protection, but some quirks and missing parts,

I'm not sure why it's taken me so long to adequately protect my home A/V configuration, but I'm glad that I finally found the Belkin PF60 to do the job. One rule of thumb I've seen is to invest roughly 20% of your total equipment value in power protection. That may be a good marketing ploy for high-end equipment vendors, but I honestly can't see why I would ever need more protection than what the Belkin PureAV PF60 offers. Belkin offers a $500,000 connected equipment warranty for the lifetime of the product to the original purchaser.
There is a lot to like about this unit: - Level 4 surge protection with automatic over-voltage cutoff (7116 Joules - 369,000 Amp max spike current) - Belkin Phase 6 electrical noise filter - 13 power outlets, configured in 6 banks of 2 (rear) and one in the front (behind a protected door) including one bank for high-current devices (Amplifiers, Receivers) - each of the 6 banks are electrically isolated, minimizing interference between components - each of the 6 banks can be configured for always-on, switched, or switched with delay - switched outlets can be controlled from the front of the unit, or by a remote trigger (12V DC in) - front LCD status display shows line voltage and current (Amp) usage for the entire unit, or for each of the 6 banks - 12v DC remote trigger output for additional components - extremely heavy duty (10AWG) 10-foot power cable, with right-angle plug - nice form factor, size, and styling fit well in my home theater configuration What's missing? Unfortunately, a few key items that the Belkin PDF manual (on their support site) would indicate are included: - no Ethernet or phone jack protection - no AC power cord for remote trigger (luckily, there is a standard 1/8" mini 12V DC port) - no mounting hardware for rack mount There are also a few annoying things: - there is no option to completely turn off the LCD backlight, although the dimmest level isn't too distracting - after a complete power failure, the PF60 doesn't remember its settings. Since I use the remote 12V trigger for switched outlets, after a power failure, I have to manually hit the "Remote" button on the front of the unit. And, I have to reset the LCD backlight down from its brightest default. But, in all, considering the performance and other features, at this price point, it's hard not to like the PureAV PF60. In my configuration, I did notice a slight improvement in video quality, especially with analog inputs. And that is saying something, as I don't generally believe in cable "voodoo". And that alone is worth the investment, beyond the essential component protection.

No more rack mounts - BEWARE,
By
This review is from: Belkin AP41300fc10 PF60 PureAV Home Theater Power Console - Black (Electronics)
This is the 3rd PF60 I have purchased for rack mount applications. As a standalone unit it works great. In both the manual and the advertisements it is still listed as a rack mount device. The first 2 units came with rack mount hardware. The 3rd unit did not include the hardware. When I called customer support to obtain the rack ears I was told that despite being printed in the manual and being advertised as a rack mount device, that the rack mounts are no longer available.
The rep further went on to say that any PF60 that is mounted in a rack is no longer covered by the warranty. He suggested that I try to return the unit to Amazon and purchase a CyberPower PR6000LCDRTXL5U for $2,000 , or to buy a $260 Belkin RK5019 shelf. I have found that the 'Belkin Omniview PRO2/M2 19 Inch Racks ( F1D002 )' will fit either the top 2 or the lower 2 holes, however this is a LOT of stress to put onto only 2 hole locations.

Impressive Unit,

The Belkin PF60's performance is top-notch, as detailed by some of the other reviews. It's looks/build are impressive, just what you would expect at this price point. What I would have liked to have known before purchasing was what some other people were running through theirs. I'm running a 50" Pioneer Kuro, Yamaha VX-565 receiver (w/Monitor Audio Silver RS6 towers), PS3, XBOX360, and Polk PSW125 powered subwoofer. I put it to the test right away, turning on every component and playing some more demanding CD's through my A/V receiver, with the PS3's background visualizer playing on the plasma. The Belkin PF60 didn't bat an eye, and kept consistent power to everything.
There hasn't been a difference in the "claimed" video shielding effects, but I am using heavily shielded HDMI cables, and the Kuro has fairly advanced noise cancellation circuitry built in. The mids/highs remained approximately the same on my towers, no discernible difference to my ears. The subwoofer, however, has never sounded better. I am not a fan of my Polk sub, but the consistent and clean power the Belkin delivers to it has certainly extended its life as part of my system. I have no reason not to believe that this units surge protector isn't top-notch, and honestly I hope I don't have to put it to the test. But, Belkin's outstanding warranty protection is more than enough extra guarantee for all but the most expensive audiophile systems. Overall: Completely satisfied with the Belkin PF60 and this seller's fast, quality service.

Just purchased the PF60, because I needed a unit to protect my home theater equipment, that was rack mountable. The Belkin PF60, lists that it is rack mountable, and it includes the brackets. After I received my box from Amazon, and opened it, there were no brackets in the box. My only option with Amazon, is to return the unit, so I tried to contact Belkin.
You have to create an account on their website, to get support, but that part of their website won't allow you to login once you create an account. I had to use the chat feature, which works really well, and lots easier then waiting on hold for hours. The Rep, said the brackets, are part of the contents, who then gave me a number to call Tech Support? This is when things go downhill. As you may have suspected, my call was routed to India, where I connected with someone with an Americanized name like "Joe", who has an accent so thick, I had to ask him to repeat every response at least five times. After once again establishing that I'm supposed to have brackets, but they aren't in the box, "Joe" says I have to speak with Customer Service, so they can send me the missing brackets. However, then number he gives me to call, is the same number I used to call him!!! "Joe" also doesn't understand English that well, so it took a few attempts to get that point across to him. Eventually, he figured out that he needed to forward my call to Customer Service. The Rep, quickly told me that the Underwriters Laboratory (UL), had them pull the brackets from the box, and that they aren't allowed to supplied brackets to any one. The Rep, had no reason why this happened, and has no source that references this. They do however, still lists that brackets are included with the PF60 on their website, just as Amazon's website, and every other site that sells this unit. I've searched over the Internet, and have found no mention that UL has ordered anyone from supplying rack mount brackets for power line conditioners. I'm going to order some 3rd party brackets, and hopefully the mounting holes are standardized. If not, I'll have to drill new ones. I guess I should have bought the more expensive Monster, brand of line conditioner.

I read alot of reviews of many brands & models of power line conditioners/surge protectors before buying this one. It is definately the best one out there for the price up to $400.00 according to my own research. I have had the unit for 7 months now & am very happy with it. It is easy to use, has plenty of outlets & the one on the front of the unit is very handy. It keeps all electrical noise out of my system & IT SHOWS with the quality of picture & sound I get from all of my components. It keeps the voltage exiting the unit completely steady. It has a readout on the front that shows the voltage being used from each bank & the the voltage level exiting the unit to your electronics. It's very easy to set up & its possible to change settings in seconds by just moving a switch or two or the push of a button. I highly recommend this power line conditioner. I have many very high priced components plugged into it. I live in Florida, the lightning capital of the world & I feel totally secure with this unit protecting my electronics.
I also have a surge protector from the power company hooked up to the meter that will keep any huge surges from entering the system. It's a great idea to put a surge protector on the main line coming into your house to protect everything including your refrigerator, washer, dryer, microwave, stove, water heater, air conditioner, etc. without plugging everything into its own surge protector. My power company only charged $49.00 to install it & it's $4.00 a month. It has a lifetime guarantee & will cover up to $250,000 in appliances, but not electronics. Electronics are very succeptable to breakage due to power surges so the power company reccommends using a seperate surge protector for them. Check with your power company about one.

I did a lot of checking on this type of equipment, joule ratings, outlets, connections, etc. Pricing and alleged connections made this the least expensive of it's kind and function. However investigation through belkin after receiving the product which is an old discontinued model, does not include all stated ports, connections namely an rj45 e-thernet jack, and phone jack, so it's not really a full a/v console able to support all connections for today's a/v needs and full function. A call to belkin revealed at some point these critical connections were deleted from the product but this fact was never changed in the product description nor instruction manual. It's still an excellent unit given it's specs and price but if you want like i did to have all equipment connected to one console this is not the unit for you.
