High-Definition Switching
With HDMI, or High-Definition Multimedia Interface, fast becoming the standard among video components, HDMI has become one of the most common audio video connections available. XBox 360, Playstation 3, Blue-ray players, gaming computers, and more now require HDMI inputs for optimal user experiences. Unfortunately, most of the older -- and many newer -- HD televisions and receivers have only one HDMI input. Although you could spend $1,000 or more to upgrade your television or receiver to take care of this problem, the PureAV HDMI Interface 2-to-1 Video Switch can take care of it for you at a fraction of the cost.

The PureAV HDMI Interface 2-to-1 Video Switch allows you to connect to and switch among two high-definition, digital-video source devices through only one HDMI, or Digital Visual Interface (DVI) connection on your high-definition television or receiver. (Although there are only HDMI connections on this device, you can use an HDMI Interface-to-DVI cable (sold separately) to connect and switch between DVI components.)

This convenient, compact switch offers an ideal way to provide an all-digital connection between such source devices as HDTVs, DVD players/recorders, HD-DVD and Blu-ray players, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 Elite systems, digital cable/satellite set-top boxes, and AV receivers. Simply select from among the devices either by pressing the input-selector button on the switch itself, or by using the included remote control to scroll to or directly select a source.

Maintaining Highest Resolutions and Standards
The PureAV 2-to-1 Video Switch maintains the highest HDMI single-link video resolution available and supports the full range of resolutions to optimize your viewing experience, including 480i, 480p, 720i, 720p, 1080i, and 1080p. The switch works with all HDCP-compliant devices, and it connects and switches both HDMI and HDMI Interface-to-DVI cables.

The switch measures 3.15 x 0.78 x 1.74 inches (WxHxD) and weighs less than three ounces. In addition to the remote control, it comes with an IR remote control, and IR receiver extender. The switch is backed by a Belkin Lifetime Warranty.

I was attracted to the fact that this switcher had a remote control. The packaging and build of this unit seems quite solid and I was impressed. Well....that's about all that was good about it. The switching worked fine, but there was NO audio signal that was transmitted throught the switcher. I returned it and bought another switcher (that was even cheaper!) and while the other brand did not have remote control, it did work flawlessly. So, I do have to get up and go over to the replacement unit (different brand) and push a button. Save your money, do not buy this brand!

I have an older surround sound receiver that doesn't have HDMI input. My HD TV only had one HDMI input. Therefore, when I got a Sony Playstation 3 to use for HD movies, music and games, I couldn't use an HDMI cable to hook it up to my TV since I already had my HD DirecTV DVR hooked up to the TV. I bought the Belkin switch as a much cheaper alternative to getting a TV with multiple inputs or a new receiver with multiple inputs. It works great! I switch back and forth between HDTV and the PS3 with ease and no sacrifce on picture quality.
Note: You do need at least 3 HDMI cables (one from the switch to the TV or receiver and two from the switch to the two devices). I was tempted to buy the $5 cables I saw on Amazon but went with some $20 cables from BJ's instead.

I have only 1 DVI input into my TV and needed this for my Directv HD receiver and my blue ray. It works well and you can program it w/ your a logitech remote to switch to either input (Watch TV or Watch Movie). Good Buy. I would recommend it.
