Yes, it works as a surge protector and it does clamp onto a desk or other surface, but it is not a strong clamp. It is wobbly and would be a poor choice if it were in a place where it might be hit. Otherwise, it works fine.

If this clamped on firmly to the table top, it would be very slick. As it is, it hangs loosely.

I purchased this surge protector to clamp on to an adjustable laptop desk. It works perfectly, and I am happy with my choice, but do be aware that this product only clamps on to items that are approximately 1.5 inches thick.

In my case, the portions of the laptop desk that overhang the bed were too small, however, the surge protector did clamp perfectly onto the adjustable, vertical base that supports the desk section.

The end result is that I have convenient power for my laptop, desk lamp, and Kindle, that rolls right along with the base of the desk.

Typical Belkin junk. I just got this home and tried to "clamp" it on to several different thicknesses of wood on my desk. This thing flops around like an old man's johnson. The clamping feature is useless. I'm taking it back to the store tomorrow.

I use this on my work bench. It works fine, clamps to the top. The cord is pretty long and easily reaches the nearest outlet. The only thing I don't really like is the size of the clamp. It makes the whole unit rather large so depending what you are trying to do this may be too large to work.

We are using them in a Conference Room. We were able to run one cord to an outlet and then piggyback them around the tables. It looks professional and clean. Less hazardous due to less cords on the floor. The only recommendation is that if the table has a rounded edge use some velcro to keep them from rolling off. Our management and meeting attendees were very pleased.
