Unique fold-open design lets you plug cords in and thread them out in the same direction.
Unique Design Conceals Plugs and Keeps Cables Organized
Computer rooms, offices, workstations, and media centers often fall prey to cord clutter and the frustration that comes along with it, but this concealed surge protector offers a simple way to keep cables organized. A unique fold-open design lets you plug cords in and thread them out in the same direction. It also keeps cords secure in their sockets, so you'll never have to crawl under the desk and wiggle plugs into place again.

This Concealed Surge Protector also features an unobtrusive white finish. Its 10-foot cord and compact design make it easy to hide in an out-of-the-way place, while its clean lines mean that you don't have to feel bad about keeping it out in the open. And, because it folds shut, its outlets are inaccessible to kids and pets.

11 Protected Outlets Safeguard Computers, Appliances, and Electronics
This Belkin surge protector grounds AC power through 11 surge-protected outlets to keep your computer, stereo, big screen, and other valuable devices from being damaged by unexpected electrical events like lightning strikes or the routine spikes and surges caused by our ever-changing demands for electrical current. This surge protector is rated to handle 4260 Joules.

For maximum versatility, its design includes six regular outlets, four BlockSpace outlets that can handle oversized charger plugs, and one convenience outlet.

Full Protection for Phone Lines, Ethernet Cables, and Coax Cables
Protected pass-through points for Internet and AV lines are a critical part of keeping your expensive electronic gear safe, since surges over these lines are just as dangerous and damaging as surges over electrical lines. That's why the Belkin Concealed Surge Protector offers one RJ11-in plug and two RJ11-out plugs for phone, fax, and modem protection. It also provides protection for both coaxial cables and Ethernet cables with one-in and one-out each.

Why would I need a surge protector with coaxial connections?
Electrical surges can also enter your home or office through the cable lines. A surge protector with coax-cable protection offers critical protection for audio and video equipment and ensures maximum conductivity, secure connections, and overall better picture and sound.

Why is it important to protect my telephone or Ethernet line?
Surges can enter your home or office through telephone lines to harm and even destroy sensitive electronic devices, including your computer. Using a surge protector with telephone or Ethernet protection is the only way to properly ensure the safety of your telecommunications devices against electrical disturbances.

3.0 out of 5 stars Good concept / cheap construction, May 22, 2007
This review is from: Belkin Concealed Surge Protector (Electronics)
I like the idea, but my two year old broke the thing 2 seconds out of the box. The tiny (and I mean tiny) little plastic hinges holding the door on don't stand a chance. On top of that, the plastic hinge that's supposed to hold the door closed doesn't have any strength, and my bundle of cords kept popping it open. I bought two of them so had an extra. Needless to say I'm keeping the thing now that I have it. It's a good idea, and mostly works, but could definitely use some stronger binding pieces.

3.0 out of 5 stars Good concept, but flimsy with enormous cord, April 23, 2008

I love the concept of this product, but in practice it's proven to be wanting in a few ways.

First, as others have noted, the construction is rather flimsy. So far, for me, this hasn't proven to be a deal breaker, but I could see it being a problem in the future.

Second, and to me, the larger issue, is the length of the cord on the unit itself. As the model number indicates (BZ111234-10) if you know what to look for, there is a 10 FOOT CORD meant to connect the unit to the wall outlet. I don't know who needs a 10 foot cord for their surge protector, but apparently none of the people whose setups appear in Belkin's product photographs. From the promotional photos, you'd get the impression that a short, 3 foot cord connects the surge protector to the wall. Unfortunately, this isn't the case. And since the entire purpose of this product is to CONCEAL the cords, it is decidedly inconvenient to have a huge 10 foot cord hanging off the unit when all you want to do is put it under your desk next to a power outlet.

At the least, Belkin could redesign the product to allow you to spool up the power cord to keep it neatly out of the way. They also seem to have recognized the error of their ways, as the model of the Concealed Surge Protector advertised on their site is BZ111200-06 and has only a 6 foot cord. (Interestingly, they also now have a Small Concealed Surge Protector which is a bit smaller than this model.)

With a bit sturdier construction, and a spool allowing the excess power cord to be stored neatly, this would be a great little product. As it stands, I must give it a qualified recommendation.

4.0 out of 5 stars Hides items nicely - but with some minor oversights, July 22, 2007
This review is from: Belkin Concealed Surge Protector (Electronics)
This item has done a number on the mess I had around my entertainment center; it does conceal the electrical cords (as advertised), but the tabs are a bit on the weak side. I also wish they would have made the cover a little bit deeper; I have some pressure on my plug from the TV set (Toshiba), though it does manage to close OK. My replacement plug from my original XBox also does not fit in the large capacity area due to the small area allowed to plug in the larger plugs (xbox plug is too long to fit properly), however it does plug into the 11th outlet (outside the concealed area) just fine. It did the job I wanted, but not in a lavish style. Oh, also I'm a bit bummed that it didn't included surge protection for 2 separate coaxial cables (have TIVO, uses 2 tuners, this only has 1 so I am still using the old surge protector this was supposed to replace just to ground the cables out). It is a good product, just not "outstanding".
