I bought a Coby Cassette Adapter for myself and my son kept using it so I bought him the cheaper white Digital Sound Generation one which didn't work at all, so then I bought him this XM Cassette Adapter. He said it was the best yet. He told me the Colby worked very well, buth the XM worked even better, plus it was a little less in price. We also tried the FM transmitter and we got alot of static, plus it was alot more expensive.

This is great for playing your MP3 player on your car radio. I also like to use it when I'm out by the pool to keep my MP3 player dry. You can use your existing boom box with cassette player without having to buy new and sometimes expensive MP3 speaker system.

I am using this adapter in the bose stereo system that came with my Acura RSX. I was afraid to buy it because of the negative reviews. I haven't had any of the issues that other people have reported; It doesn't flip sides unexpectedly, or make any weird noises. I get full stereo sound, from all speakers. In facet, the sound is far better than I expected. Works great, for me.

Like many other reviewers, I found the sound on the Belkin XM adapter to be very good, border line excellent. The one odd thing about the whole cassette model is that these adapters have internal circular plastic spinners that actually move when the cassette player is on. And in the case of the Belkin, this movement results in a cheap plastic noise that can be heard during quiet moments or between songs. I unscrewed the cassette and removed the entire system of plastic gears inside, put the adapter back in my car stereo and ta-da, no more cheap plastic noise. Why would anyone design and manufacture these moving plastic parts when they have nothing to do with the transference of the audio and just make noise?

Head unit is in a 2001 Malibu but I replaced the stock speakers with some nice Polks.

I wanted to run my iPod nano so I purchased a "Monster" brand cassette adapter at Target as that was the only brand they sold. The bass / treble was poor (In case your using a Monster brand you have to max out the MP3 players volume and minimize the car stereo volume to prevent static)and the overall sound was ok at best. 90% of the volume traveled to the right side speakers which I THOUGHT was inherit of any cassette adapter. After only 2 weeks the Monster adapter (which by the way cost almost $20 !) broke. I returned it for another at Target which had the same crappy sound. This one worked for less then three months before the sound degraded so bad I threw it in the trash. Typical of Monster brand products they are massively over priced pieces of junk.
Anyway, after reading all the reviews on the other adapters I purchased the XM by Belkin.
(with the Belkin my iPod volume was best when locked at 50%)
WOW, the sound is really clear and the bass sounds great too. The system now sounds like I have a CD player or "proper" MP3 connection. Sound is balanced almost perfectly on the speakers too. Ive only been using it for a week so I cant comment on durability. However for less then 1/4 the price of "monstrous crap" I have no problems buying another.
5 stars!

I didn't have an AUX input on my factory radio and did not want to buy a new one so having a cassette slot allowed me to get this adaptor. The sound quality is amazing. I highly recommend this if you are in the same situation. Broadcasting the sound through the radio station option is horible.

I bought this so I could listen to my iPod in my wife's 2001 Infinity. Nice car with a decent factory sound system with a CD player that doesn't play MP3 discs and doesn't have an auxiliary input. But it does play cassettes. Given the age of the car and the fact that it's just our day to day runabout, not our primary road cruiser, I just can't justify the cost of replacing and upgrading the stereo.

Surprisingly good sound quality. I've tested it with an old 4th Generation 60GB Color Classic, an 8GB 5th Generation Nano, and an iPhone 3Gs. They all work well, and in exactly the same fashion. Put the adapter in the cassette player...plug it into the iPod headphone jack...turn the volume of the iPod about half way up...control the play back volume with the car system and the playback functions on the iPod itself. The cord is long enough that you can handle the iPod and manipulate the controls without taking your eyes off the road. I get none of the speaker distortion, clicking sounds, grinding, or random ejections reported by other reviewers. These problem are evidently caused by sound systems of their cars, not this adapter.

Since it's just an audio out connection it doesn't power the iPod. Not a problem for the way we use it. But if you're anticipating using one of these on a long road trip you might consider getting a separate 12v power adapter for your device.

I have a '99 BMW and it has a stereo with cassette player on it...so instead of waisting a whole bunch on upgarding it I decided to get this to be able to hear my iPod. Now sound quality is better than expected and better than others that I've heard...but sometimes my stereo reads cassette error so it stops, I have to reinsert the cassette in order for it to work again but this happens quite a few times so that would be my only issue. Although Ill admit that it may be a stereo problem but not sure still i would recommend it.
