A quality cable; standard mini DIN 8-pin male connectors on each end. ( [...] ).

I have no doubt that it works for its intended purpose. For any other use, note that I believe this cable is NOT wired "straight-through." That is, a given pin "n" may not be connected to the same pin "n" on the other end. I'm about 85% sure about this, but it may be I got myself confused testing it! A 'net search didn't answer whether a Mac Serial Printer Cable is wired straight-through or not.

Unfortunately, through no fault of its own, this cable wouldn't work with my Yamaha YST-MS50 "powered multimedia speakers" to connect the right satellite speaker to the subwoofer/amp unit. The plugs fit fine, but the +12 and -12 pins appear to be crossed within the cable.

Would be nice if the manufacturer labeled this product a little more completely as to its wiring, but otherwise I can't complain as it seems to be a good quality cable.
