This router replaced other routers that I could not get a reliable, consistent wifi signal from. It has done its job magnificently so far. It broadcast on 2.4 ghz, 5 ghz and it also has a guest connection that can be disabled if you wish. This router allows me to stream movies and media to my smart tv from one end of the house to another with no issues at all so far. I am very pleased with it.

I got this model because of the decent reviews and the fact that parental controls were powered by Norton, which I read that it had something active that monitored the traffic through the router.

I will give it three stars because, as a router, it does pretty good. It was easy to set up, and I had my entire network running on it in about an hour (that is three apple TV's, a Blu-Ray Player, two laptops, two wireless printers, three mobile phones, four tablets, and three desktops). I'm what you'd call a power user, obviously, but this was simple enough that anybody else could set up a network with a handful of devices pretty quickly. A lot of my setup time was also doing some custom stuff that most people probably wouldn't worry about.

Speed was good over this. Connecting to my wireless and wired devices was always fast with it's 1GB network speed on the wired and the dual-band wireless. I don't have any AC devices, but I was glad to know that when I did, I'd have a router that would work with them. I had no complaint about speed.

So why am I taking it back?

The parental controls are a joke. It uses a method known as DNS filtering. DNS is what translates a website's IP address to a common address. For instance, if I want to go to Google, I type that (plus the .com) and it looks it up in the DNS, gets the correct address that the computer understands, and then takes you there. Now, if that DNS directly didn't have Google in it, then the router would just come back and say, "Ooops, sorry, that website doesn't exist." What this actually does is it takes out common pornography websites (like playboy and other porn websites) and doesn't include it in their DNS.

The problem with this is that the list isn't accurate.

I also purchased this device at Costco and I am very pleased with the performance. We had constant problems with our previous router disconnecting from our cable modem and needed an upgrade. When connected, the router connected immediatly and all of our devices worked straight away. I recommend this device especially if you can save 20 bucks by purchasing it at Costco.

Product works great! Setup took only a few minutes. The 802.11AC band is incredibly fast, and having the backwards compatibility of 802.11n,g,b,a is a huge plus as well.

Verified Purchase
I purchased this product as an upgrade to my previous Belkin. I love the new look of the product and the website. The set up was an easy as 1,2 and 3. I read the reviews prior to making my purchase with hopes that my wireless connectivity would be better but like another writer, my problem appears to be with ISP provider which really sucks! Nonetheless, I believe that I will be well equip should technology advances to accepted 5GHz technology. I recommend this product

I saw this at Costco for $99 and decided to take a chance, even though I couldn't find any product reviews for it.

***SETUP: Not great. I've set up quite a few routers/wireless networks (D-Link, Linksys, Belkin), but this probably gave me the most trouble I've had yet. Though I was able to access the browser setup, rename the network, set up a password, etc. with ease, the router had a lot of trouble connecting to my cable modem (a lot of disconnecting, waiting, reconnecting, switching CAT5 cables, etc).

After 45 minutes of failed attempts with the wireless interface, I tried the disc method. Same problem. After numerous attempts and an hour later, a signal finally came through, though I could not tell you why. I would only suggest trying the CD method first, since that's what I was using when the router finally decided to mysteriously kick in.

***SIGNAL STRENGTH: We live in a three story house and the network was spotty, even just one floor up directly above the router. My 7-year-old D-Link had no trouble with these areas, but I couldn't get my iPhone to have a consistent signal even when I was in the same room. My laptop constantly had dropped signals and I couldn't stream Hulu without stutters and disconnections.

***FEATURES: If you can make it through the setup, the router itself does offer some neat features: easy setup for guest networks if you want to keep your main network more private, dual band 2.4 or 5G options. However, it's also one of the largest routers I've seen and takes up a fair bit of space.

***CONCLUSION: I ended up returning it and getting the Medialink through Amazon: http://www.amazon.com/Medialink-Wireless-Broadband-802-11n-Internal/dp/B0044YU60M/ref=sr_1_1?

Bought at Costco last week.
Router cannot reach the internet.
Spent time with chat, and they confirmed a hardware problem.
Returned it yesterday for another one.
Same issues - spoke to level 1 today.
Support level 1 is just going thru the motions, even when I told them I am knowledgeable.
They have seen this before, but pressed me to do silly things ....
I would stay away from this new product until (if) quality returns ....
