This review is from: Belkin F1DA116Z 16-Port PS2 USB PRO3 KVM Switch (Personal Computers)
I got this item used. It's pretty easy to operate and features on-screen display & configuration menus. The default control schemes is to hit scroll-lock twice, then up/down arrow or 01-16 to select the port. It provides confirmation in the form of audible beeps. Oh, and the front-mounted buttons & display are a nice touch.
While the video specs on it are supposedly good, I've had a lot of difficulty actually using higher-frequency modes. Most video cards are capable of auto-detecting the monitor settings. The KVM intercepts this and confuses the video card, so it doesn't see the actual monitor. When I've managed to trick the card into using a high-frequency setting (1920x1200 @ 85 Hz), the result was pretty disappointing (I don't remember exactly what the issue was, but probably along the lines of significant ghosting and/or blurring). The cable I used between the KVM and my monitor looked fine when directly connected, and you're locked into using the Belkin cables for the PC -> KVM link. Therefore, I would not recommend this to someone wanting to use it for gaming, video, or graphics-intensive applications. But they're probably using a DVI or DisplayPort solution, anyhow. I've only had one case where a machine I use heavily seemed to have problems with mouse/keyboard. A simple power-cycle of the KVM took care of it. I don't know if it's related, but I frequently put this machine in standby mode, so maybe that had something to do with it. Keyboard compatibility is good. I use a finicky, old PS/2 keyboard and the KVM has worked with it as good or better than any PC, or PS2 -> USB converter dongle I've tried. The mouse I use with it is USB, and whether the machine is connected via USB or PS2, the setup has been rock solid (except for the case I mentioned above). BTW, some have mentioned problems getting the cables to screw in. I've had absolutely zero issues with this, but then maybe the previous owner ordered a different, longer set of nuts for the cables to screw into?
