Decent switch,

This review is from: Belkin F1DG102P Flip 2-Port KVM Switch with Audio Support (PS/2 Connection) (Personal Computers)
I was looking for a simple monitor A-B switch to connect a Mac and a PC to the same monitor, but settled on this item instead after reading about iffy connections with mechanical switches. On the Belkin Flip, the switch and video routing mechanisms draw power from the PS/2 keyboard port, so be aware, if you're planning to use this as a monitor-only switch, at least one of the keyboard connectors needs to be connected and powered up at all times or no video signal will get through. In my case, I also had to buy a USB-to-PS/2 adapter (another $25 or so at CompUSA, cheaper elsewhere) to drive power from the Macintosh side. Once properly connected to keyboard ports on both computers, the switch has functioned flawlessly for me.

You may also toggle machines using the keyboard instead of the (cute but loud) clicker remote.
* Double-tap the Scroll-Lock key. * The base and remote will flash for about 2 seconds. * While flashing, press 1 or 2. * 1 selects the green/left machine, 2 selects the yellow/right machine. If you've had issues with other KVMs, especially USB KVMs, I recommend you get this KVM with USB-to-PS/2 converter dongles for the end of your USB keyboard and USB mouse. The dongles are small, cheap and work perfectly. This device works exactly as expected.

I need easy access to two computers, but did not want to waste desk space by having two monitors. The Belkin Flip is very easy to hook-up. It's working great.

I am dumbfounded by postive reviews for the Flip Switch,

The Belkin Flip Switch (for all its models) are baddly designed. Most units will fail to work within a couple of months and there is no customer service. I wonder if the people that gave the Flip Switch a postive review would do so after a couple of months?
Just read the reviews for the other models (no need me to add thing more) - you would think this is the worst product ever made. I tried to contack Belkin with no results. Their website says to email a specific address that in turn directs you to a non-existant webpage. Only course of action is to send a letter.

Ghosting is a problem,
This review is from: Belkin F1DG102P Flip 2-Port KVM Switch with Audio Support (PS/2 Connection) (Personal Computers)
I have been using this flip for 3 months. At first it ghosted when I flipped to my laptop. The ghosting wasn't that bad (ghosting, per the tech support guy at Belkin is minor shimmering of everything on the monitor...). Anyway I have put up with it for the convenience of having one keyboard and mouse. Lately however the ghosting has turned into barely legible and has created other strange problems. I would like my money back from Belkin but doubt that will happen. They are really big on just trading out a "defective" product regarless if it is defective design. Anyway that is the short condensed version of my flip story.

I purchased this product because my internet card went out on my home computer. I was told that it was expensive to replace (which I am now being told differently) however, in the meanwhile I got a new computer from my husband's work. I have so many documents and pictures on my 'old' computer that I did not want to store on my 'new' computer and take up all that space. My main reasoning for the 'new' computer was for internet purposes only. Thus, I decided to by this Belkin KVM switch. I was a little hesitant because of some of the negative reviews I read, but I figured for the price it was worth a try. I am so HAPPY that I did. I literally had it hooked up and ready to go within 5-10 minutes, as it is so simple to hook up (didn't need my husband's help for this one!) The one touch remote switch is so convenient, and the delay in switching from one computer to the next is maybe 2-3 seconds. I have owned this product now for approx. 4 weeks and absolutely could not be happier! I saved alot of money and received a product that totally lived up to everything that I needed out of it. Two home desk computers, one monitor, one mouse, one keyboard, one set of speakers - YEAH!!!

The most difficult part of this unit was opening the plastic container. No problems attaching the cables and it worked immediately after turning on the computers as per the instruction booklet. I am using computer running Vista 64 with another computer on XP. The external switch makes it much easier to switch computers. I have had no problems from the beginning and have used it for two weeks. I would recommend this to anyone who is upgrading to a newer operating systems and need to continue using older software on another computer.

Horrible Product With Horrible Support -- BE WARE,
This review is from: Belkin F1DG102P Flip 2-Port KVM Switch with Audio Support (PS/2 Connection) (Personal Computers)
I just got this product today and it is heading back to Amazon. I have a Mac Desktop and Windows Laptop and was hoping to use this switch just for video and audio. Unfortunatly it didn't work. From what i can tell, a lot of people have had the same issue. Support was no help, I spoke to them for half an hour, of which 10 minutes was spent trying to spell my last name correctly.
Tech support first said Flip does not support Mac products, to which i quoted from the manual *and* the website that it did. They asked for me to send the product to Belkin, wait 10 days for it to be received and then wait 10 days for a new one. This was my first Belkin product and it will be my last.

I think it works quite well for the purpose, although I haven't been able to make the short cut keys work actually. I showed to a friend and he bought it too.
The other issue that I am not able to solve is that sometimes the Screen configuration changes from time to time having to change it by my self to the right one. However, I find myself satisfied with it, for it let's me work with both of my computers at the same time, and the only think I have to do is just 'Click'...Belkin F1DG102U Flip 2-Port KVM Switch with Audio Support (USB Connection)

Works fine with my Logitech wireless set but it's neccesary to switch the KVM before turning the computer on. I guess the keyboard-mouse emulation doesn't works very well. One of the set of cables is a little bit short.
