This review is from: Belkin F3N404-06-APL 6-Foot 9-Pin to 6-Pin FireWire 800/400 Cable (Personal Computers)
The cable, a 6 ft. 9-pin to 6-pin, transferred my files flawlessly from my old computer to my new iMac with amazing speed.

If you have a Firewire 400 drive and you just bought a new MacBook Pro, you NEED one of these to get to your data!
It made it so simple to connect, just as before.

Just bought a new iMac so I needed this wire to transfer data from my old iMac. My fault being impatient and running to Best Buy to purchase this wire. They had one wire left and it was $34.99. After the fact I look here on Amazon and see the same Belkin wire for half the price. So if you need this wire, and it was great for what I needed it for. PLEASE do not purchase from Best Buy. Same wire half the price. Amazon rocks. As for me lesson learned.

I purchased this product in order to make it compatible between Lexar Professional Card Reader and my iMac. iMac from Apple (duo core 2) uses 6-pin fire wire connection when Lexar had 800 speed 9-pin cable connection plug. I had the Lexar dual-chained and slaved to a 400 port. This is a good cable to bridges the old and new technologies. Belkin is trustworthy always.

Received this item quickly. It does what it's supposed to to. Was able to transfer my date from my MacBook Pro to my new iMac with no problems. I highly recommend this cable!

Got this for the Seagate FreeAgent Desktop Firewire 800 adapter to connect to my computer's Firewire 400 ports.Works as expected without any of the other bulky adapter solutions of other manufacturer's cables. Is packaged within Apple/Mac packaging, but works just fine in GNU/Linux! FYI: Contains a warning on the packaging, "WARNING This product contains chemicals, including lead, known to the State of California to cause birth defects or other reproductive harm." I speculate this is because some rubber/metal molding equipment might use lead molding during manufacturing?)

Did exactly what it was supposed to do perfectly! I was having trouble with my Firewire 800 and 400 hard drives crashing with my iMac when on at the same time. Using this cable, they now work in harmony.

I bought a new external drive that was Firewire 800 and obviously could not connect it to my Firewire 400 enabled MacBook. After trying a couple of solutions from Amazon (that I was fortunately able to return) that did not work - either because they failed to give a tight fit and thus compromised the data flow and hung up my computer or were not as described, I did a work around using a 400/USB cable. Since my wife got a new iMac, I had to go to the Apple store to get a 800/400 cable to set up the new computer. It cost 29.99 plus tax and was the ONLY one Apple carried. It worked perfectly as does the second almost half price one from Amazon. Forget the cheapy colored ones - get the Belkin - it works and is much faster than the 400/USB cable

I picked this up to go from my Canopus ADVC 110 video capture device to my new 2011 MacBook Pro. The build quality is pretty good and it works fine.
I have no complaints other that the price was a little high and the firewire symbol is on the bottom side rather than the top when connecting to the MacBook Pro, so I have to remember that when connecting...but that may be more of an Apple issue.

This connects a Firewire 400 device to a Firewire 800 device. In my case it is an older Seagate drive to my new Macbook Pro. It works and is still a faster connection than USB 2.0 but not by much.
Only other thing, MUCH cheaper than I could find locally. I never buy cables from anywhere bu Amazon any more. |
