This is the 3rd card reader I've owned. The first one was a cheap Hummingbird that claimed to read everything. "Yay!", went my heart. Until the day I got my first SanDisk 8Gb MicroSDHC card. "Chirp?", said my little Hummingbird and refused to read the card.

The second was a Sony that claimed "SDHC IZ TEH SUPPORTZ" on the back. But after a quick Google, it became apparant that it does not support the super huge 8Gb on a hairpin.

So, I bought this one.

And it works.

I could be dramatic and said that Angels came down on a beam of light and sang heavenly praises about the quality of this product. But I won't.

Oh on a more technical note, I have this plugged into a Belkin USB Hub and I achieved 3Mbs sustained write speed to my Class 2 MicroSDHC card which theoretically only supports up to 2Mb sustained transfer rate.

I have various electronic devices all with different memory card types. I needed a universal card reader that supported them all. I looked for options but found very few that looked good sitting on my desk with my iMac. Since I already had a Belkin USB hub I checked for a card reader as well. I found and ordered this reader, it arrived quickly and installed with a simple connection. It looks good, works well, and is easy to use. It is built very well, it does not feel cheap like some of the other readers on the market. All in all I am very pleased!

I ordered this card reader to use with two different computers - Vista and Windows 7. I had read in a prior review here on Amazon that it did not work with Windows 7 but I ordered it anyway. It works fine with Windows Vista (supplied software installs fine) and the reader will work with Windows 7 but the software that comes with the reader is not recognized by Windows 7. So basically it's just the supplied software that doesn't work with Windows 7. If you are a Windows 7 user, all you have to do is plug the reader into your computer and then a window will pop up that asks you how you want to open and view the files on the card (make sure media card is insterted into reader prior to plugging into computer). I was able to download all of my photos on the Windows 7 computer just fine. It's just the Belkin software that is not useable if you have Windows 7; otherwise the reader works fine with that OS. I had contacted Belkin's customer support and they confirmed what I have just stated here and that there are no downloadable drivers for Windows 7 for this reader (as of the time of my review here) and I was told to just plug the reader into my computer. Great product and I love the assortment of media cards it can read.

04-05-2013 - I have to revise my review of this product. I mainly use it with my Windows Vista OS computer and now each time I need to use this reader I have to re-install the Belkin provided software that came with the reader. The computer does not recognize this media card reader unless I re-install the software! It's very frustrating and I need to contact Belkin to see what their remedy might be. Otherwise, when the reader is working, it works well. Just a pain to have to keep software handy so I can grab it to reinstall in order to use my reader! :-/

We're a family of professional photographers and so we've got a number of different memory card types. I set this up by plugging it in. No need to install anything else ... and inserted several different types of cards (one at a time, of course). It read them beautifully, and the transfer was much faster than just usb'ing the camera to the computer.

I can't say enough about this product... it's everything it claims to be. WELL worth the low price.

I just received this media reader for the CF cards of my new DSLR. I cannot say how it will work 1-2-3-6-12 months from now. But I can say the following ..

1. Windows 7 64bit (which is not listed in the description) directly recognizes this reader without the need of any software installation. The accompanying CD contains drivers for the other supported OS's (google for the pdf document with the item number to know about other supported systems).
2. It easily reads CF (4GB), SDHC (4GB), and microSD (2GB) cards. Please note the sizes of the cards as I do not know whether it will read larger sized cards. I do not own any other type of card so I cannot say anything about them.

I will update this review if there is any problem later on. But if there is no update from me before the day you are reading this review, then you can assume this card reader is working fine for me.

Aug 21, 2012 Update: One year from when I bought this item, and it is still working great. Another thing, it also works with the SD/SDHC to CF type II adapters.

Belkin states a lifetime warranty on this item. GOOD LUCK IF YOU HAVE A PROBLEM. They will not respond to phone calls or emails. If the product fails, just throw it in the trash!

After purchasing and trying a cheaper media reader which failed after the first day, I decided to buy this Belkin because I had had good results with other of their products. I was not disappointed. The slots feed the cards smoothly, with no jiggling required as in other readers. Downloads are fast and accurate. I've been using it for over a month with no problems. The unit seems well built and durable and sits neatly on the desktop. It's handy that it comes with 2 usb cables, so you can pick the length thats suits your environment. So far have only used the XD and CF cards, but am sure the other ports will be just as good. Very happy that I picked this item.
