4.0 out of 5 stars Great card, little trouble setting up
I installed the card on an older Gateway machine with Win98 installed. The card was recognized in the Device Manager but not seen in the Network area. After some surfing I discovered the chipset it uses, Realtek 8139A, downloaded that driver and after installing, everything was recognized and now my network is humming along with no problems. I would have given the card 5...

3.0 out of 5 stars It works great in my Windows XP computer.
A good cheap way to set up a network, if it is just to share an internet connection, to simply connect two computers.

The card comes with a cable that the instruction manual call a WOL, it says to plug it up to a WOL port on the motherboard behind a PCI slot? It works fine if you don't, I don't know what a WOL Port is, I have opeaned many computers ane...

After some surfing I discovered the chipset it uses, Realtek 8139A, downloaded that driver and after installing, everything was recognized and now my network is humming along with no problems. I would have given the card 5 stars if it wasn't for the small driver issue.

I had to replace my old net card since my internet conection was slow. The instalation could not be eaiser. All I had to do was replace the old card and put in the new card. Windows xp did the rest. It found the new card and installed it all on its own.

5.0 out of 5 stars Old computer needed a NIC, April 21, 2008

This review is from: Belkin F5D5000 32 Bit PCI Desktop Network Card (Personal Computers)
I recently obtained a hard driveless, nicless pc. (Also, no power cables or anything). I needed a NIC for it (as its original was removed). I found this NIC and it was a good price ($0.97). I accidently ordered two, but the price was so low I didn't notice.

Installation was easy, just put it in the PCI slot and put the screw back. Debian (Lenny - Testing) found it immediately like Linux does with most hardware and it worked fine.

My wife was having network problems with her Dell Desktop computer running Windows XP. After trying all the various network set-up changes to no avail I installed this card and shut off the internal network interface. XP recognized the card, it worked immediately out of the box with little or no setup, and all internet connections seem to work a bit faster now. This was $13 well spent.

5.0 out of 5 stars not a problem, June 25, 2004
This review is from: Belkin F5D5000 32 Bit PCI Desktop Network Card (Personal Computers)
Saw the previous comments so I had the Realtek drivers to hand but they weren't required as I didn't have a single problem installing it on my older Win98se machine. And a bonus - it seems to transfer files faster than the previous 10/100 card that I'd been borrowing from a friend (and thought it was time I returned it!) - a sound purchase at 9 GB pounds, and that was from a High Street retailer!

Installed the card in an XP desktop. Windows instantly recognized the card at bootup and installed the drivers. I was online within minutes of opening the box. I didn't have to install the included software. In a word: Awesome!!

I only used this for a couple of days before upgrading to a gigabit card, but I had no issues installing or with operation. Very nice that it came with WOL cable. Most don't. Will keep this for a spare.
