4.0 out of 5 stars Belkin F5U220 USB 5 Port 2.0 PCI Card
I've got a Dell Demension 4100 Computer running Windows ME. The computer came with 2 USB ports, which wasn't enough after I purchased my new Digital Camera. I decided to try adding a card to my computer, instead of just buying a hub. I have very little computer upgrade experience. To my surprise, I found adding this card a "piece of cake". 1.0 out of 5 stars Simply does not work
I purchased this card, installed it on a Jetway VT266 motherboard with Windows XP installed. This ruined my installation of Windows XP, and I had to reformat my drive. I thought it was simply because I had a cheap motherboard, so I tried it in my Dell - same thing. I have always purchased Beklin products in the past, but will not go near anything Beklin now. If you buy...

I just followed the instructions, turned on my computer, and after a few butterflies in my stomach, I got the thing to work. I only gave it 4 stars, because, once installed, Windows ME DID NOT RESTART. I had to start in Safe Mode. After restarting, the driver installed and the new card works perfectly. It it didn't scare the Hell out me (Windows not loading), I'd have given it 5 stars.

I STILL HAVE THIS PCI CARD (March 2011). It's installed in a new computer I built about 2 years ago. It connected without a hitch with Windows XP and now Windows 7 Professional. I guess I can give it 5 stars now, since I really got my moneys worth out of it!!!!

I also have a Dell Dimension 4100 that came with Windows ME. I upgraded to XP Home Edition. The installation was a cinch, and the internal port was quite useful as it turned out. I bought a Startech frontside usb port hub (goes into a 3.5 inch bay) and the cable needs a type a usb port to connect to. Normally the cable for the Startech would have to be connected to a port on the back of the cpu. With an internal port, I hav everything wired neatly inside the cpu.

1.0 out of 5 stars Simply does not work, August 1, 2003

If you buy this card, it's a lucky dip as to whether or not it will work on your system. Please - buyer beware.

The card and driver were installed on a Dell Dimension 4100 running Win ME with no glitches. Be sure to follow the instructions in the proper sequence. Whether it helped or not is debatable, but before I started, I:
1) disabled any anti-virus programs
2) unplugged the USB devices from the original USB 1.0 ports
3) removed the Belkin driver CD before powering down (after downloading the driver)
Scanner downloads are now lightning fast.

I couldn't ask for more. It dropped right in and worked flawlessly. I connected it to a 4-port 3.5 inch front-bay USB 2.0 hub using the internal USB port, and that's working just fine too. The hardest part on that was prying out and breaking off the little metal bay cover that the Dimension 4100 uses for RF resistance. Now I have so many USB ports it's almost ridiculous. I have all of my toys connected and still have ports left over.

5.0 out of 5 stars easy to install and no problems, October 1, 2005
This review is from: Belkin F5U220 USB 5 Port 2.0 PCI Card (Personal Computers)
Just installed one on my Dell 4100 running ME. The driver installation process was the shortest that I have encountered. It was just a few seconds. Now, I do not have to crawl under the table to change out USB cables. Great product. Ebay's prices seem to be similar to Amazon's.

I own a Compaq Presario, and I wanted to upgrade to USB 2.0 for my Compact Flash Card Reader. The installation was so simple. When I turned on the computer, it loaded all the drivers automatically. I didn't even touch the thing. The speed on the Compact Flash Card Reader is amazing, much faster than the old USB 1.1 I recommend this product to anyone that wants to upgrade to USB 2.0. Plus there is an internal USB port, simply amazing.

5.0 out of 5 stars Good Product, Easy to Install, October 3, 2005
This review is from: Belkin F5U220 USB 5 Port 2.0 PCI Card (Personal Computers)
No complaints from me, everything was as expected, simple to install, no problems getting it to work. It's slightly more expensive than some others, but worth the extra money because it didn't give me a headache trying to get it to work.

1.0 out of 5 stars Belkin 5 port USB not good, February 8, 2005
This review is from: Belkin F5U220 USB 5 Port 2.0 PCI Card (Personal Computers)
I am running Win 2000 pro SP4, w/SOYO Dragon Plus motherboard SY-K7V on my pc and the USB drivers have been a problem. I have had to reinstall them several times and the system has a hard time finding them on the disk. Very little support at the Belkin web site as well. I have gotten the card to run and when it does its great. But when you reboot it trys and fails to reinstall the hardware. I would not recommend this for anyone seeking to add USB 2.0 ports to their pc.

Works beautifully on XP. Very easy to install. Highly recommended if you need to upgrade a pre-USB 2.0 PC!
