I've wanted one of these for 20 years! Local hardware stores have long offered 2 wire ungrounded plug-in on/off switches, but for some reason never a 3 wire grounded version until now. This one is a nice white color, UL-listed, rated for 15 Amps (1,875 Watts), and its switch is lit in a pleasant green when power is on. As advertised, the switch covers only one outlet of a two position outlet, allowing two to be used together. A reputable brand, well made of good materials, and very affordable. Definitely recommended!

A 3-Prong Switch That Lights Up, But Switch Orientation Might Not Fit Some

It is just a 3-prong outlet switch that lights up. The light is the only conserving aspect that reminds you that it is on so you can notice and turn it off. It is subtle enough to not draw attention. It is nice to be able to notice a little green glow in my kitchen at night and remember to turn it off. My Keureg coffee maker draws 6W when off, so this was perfect to be able to turn it off when not in use without wasting 6W. It is much more compact than having to put a whole power strip on the counter. I struggled to find any 3-prong grounded switches. This was the only one I found online or in stores from major retailers.
The orientation that hangs to the right might not fit all situations. It does allow you to fit 2 of them in a single gang outlet. But if you have a 2-gang dual outlet with power on the left and something else on the right (like a light switch) it will not fit. Also the light only faces one direction, to the right and might not face in a noticeable direction. I wish I had the choice to oriented it left or right. You can always pull out a screw driver, turn off your power, and flip the outlet upside down if it were really a problem. But I found another way, I bought a GE 58368 3-Grounded Outlet Adapter, and plugged this into that on the left side and oriented downward. So overall it hangs left and down and isn't affected by the light switch on the right. But I have to rely on the glow off the kitchen tile to see the light.

The Belkin F7C016q Conserve Power Switch is pretty simple. It is a small switch that plugs into an outlet and lets you turn off power to anything plugged into the switch. Sure, you could unplug something, almost as easy, but the advantage of this little switch is you don't have cords hanging lose after unplugging them. This makes it very easy to cut the power, just flip the switch on the right hand side of the switch.
It sticks out a little to the right of your outlet, but does not interfere with the other outlet, and in fact you can put two switches together as shown in the advertising pictures.
Belkin is a good brand and this switch does just what it is supposed to. Good product for cutting power to things you don't want to unplug.
