A very good solution for mounting your XM Radio,
By
This review is from: Belkin F8E479 TuneDok for XM Radio Receiver (Electronics)
The Belkin Tunedock achieves exactly what it sets out to do - provide a solid, flexible mounting solution for your XM Radio, iPod or iPod Mini (there are multiple versions of the 'dock). The color of the iPod mount is off-white - closer to grey really. The XM mount is black.
The unit comes with a series of mounting cups that provide the base that fits into your cupholder. A stem then screws into the base. The mounting platform is attached to the top of the stem. The screw-in nature of the stem allows you to provide some degree of height adjustment and the mounting platform itself pivots to whatever angle works best for your mounting position. The mounting platform provides the little notch that is on the mounts for the SkyFi, Roady or MyFi - so it can hold any XM Radio. I was seeking a simple solution for mounting my XM Radio and iPod and did not want to take apart my dash or drill into something in order to achieve it. My cupholders are located in the dash, just above the radio in my 2001 VW Jetta. For me, the location is perfect and the 'docks hold their units firmly and stiffly enough that you can push a button or turn a wheel without having to steady the mount. The "cable management" clips on the backsides of the mounts are fair, but it would be better if you could clip them closed (they are open at one end). If you are looking for an "elegant" solution, this is probably not the mount for you. The black matches my interior, but really, I have radios sticking out of the front of my dash in the cupholders - this is not about looks. Another commentator of the iPod mount criticized this mount because it got in the way of his shifting. I suppose he could just as well write a bad review about his car for the same reason. Before you buy these, you should also really think about where your cupholders are located. If the location is marginal, or hard to reach, or requires you to run wires where you don't want to run wires then find something else. The unit does exactly what it sets out to do - allows you to mount your XM Radio from your cupholder.

Worth the money,

I had been using my air conditioning vents to hold my XM radio and this was recommended to me through a friend. It's super easy to install and works great. It doesn't move or shake while driving and is adjustable height wise to fit most car setups. It was well worth the money and in the summer heat, I am glad I bought it and got my extra air conditioning vent back.

Excellent Product... for the Right Cars,
This review is from: Belkin F8E479 TuneDok for XM Radio Receiver (Electronics)
I purchased the TuneDok because I didn't want to physically attach anything to the interior of my car. Because my car's cup holders are located between the front seats as opposed to being closer to the dash, the location isn't that great. However, it's much better than keeping my XM receiver on the passenger seat. I would definitely recommend this product.

Great mount for Roady XT,

This product works very well as advertised. Fits perfectly in my 2007 Camry without interfering with the automatic transimission shift. I was hesitant to spend this much money (~$18) on a holder when I spent only a little more than twice that on the Roady XT itself. Glad I bought the TuneDok after all.

This mounting stand truely is a marvel. I have a Blazer that really didn't a real secure place for placing my XM unit, and I didn't want to drill any holes or use double sided tape and ruin my resale value. I had been nestling my MyFi unit in a cupholder for about ayear now, and every time I took a left hand turn it would go flying into the passenger wheel well. When I saw this, I figured I had nothing to lose because I had already sacrificed a cupholder to the XM gods. When I got it, I was amazed. It's very secure, the angle of the mounting plate is perfect, it can be adjusted to the perfect height, and it's the perfect circumfrence. I honestly believe the engineers used my truck as an ergonomic guide. I can't believe I've lived so long without this (though, I felt the same way about XM).

This product is a great invention and solved a big problem for me as the windshield mount was too far away to reach. Works well.

This docking station for the XM SkyFi radio fits perfectly in the cup holder of the car. It positions the radio so I can easily change station without having to mount it onto my vehicle. It is movable from car to car. Good product, performs as advertised.

When I got a new vehicle, the air conditioner vent mount would not work. I tried the gooseneck mount attached to the seat bolt but I would have to hold the XM radio to see it (too much shaking). The Belkin TuneDok is the answer to my woes. The mount is stable and easy to use. I have a Pioneer Inno.

Very happy with this purchase. I was able to place it in a shallow cupholder between my dash and gear shift for easy access and have greatly enjoyed being able to access my XM Roady XT in this way. I just wish there were more options on the depth/width of the holders - I currently have the base sitting within the shallower cup and it works fine, but still a bit loose.
VERY good bang for the buck on this item! |
