I wanted something that would allow me to use my laptop on my lap without me having to feel the heat. I didn't want to use a pillow because they can be flimsy. I also didn't want anything with a fan that needed to be plugged in. I did research on many laptop stands and they all were pretty much plastic which I didn't think would be comfortable in my lap. They mostly looked as if they were supposed to be used on a desk. Then I came across this and really liked it. The fabric that covers it looks and feels really durable. My 15.4 inch laptop fits perfectly on top and does not slide off. I also don't feel the heat on my legs anymore. It isn't as soft as a pillow but it still is comfortable. It has a firmness to it that is just right. The middle "storage" pocket isn't at all great for storing anything. It definitely is too narrow for my mouse or power cord. I wasn't planning on using that for storage anyway tho. Its very useful tho for when I am carrying this with my laptop on top of it. They make for good handles. I also love how it raises my laptop up to be level with my eyes. I don't have to bend my back anymore. All in all this is a great laptop stand to consider. It comes in pretty cool color combos and is lightweight. If you turn it around, you can also use it for 17 inch laptops :)

Belkin's CushTop Notebook Stand is a good product for those that like to use their laptops on their laps while sitting on a couch or recliner. The stand adds a little height, which means it may be great if used in your lap or on a coffee table but perhaps not so great if used at eye level. It can be flipped over for use with a 15.4 inch laptop or a 17 inch widescreen, though it will also obviously work with smaller sizes. There are a variety of colors as well.

Antec's USB-Powered Notebook Cooler is great cooler, but not very comfortable when used directly on the lap. Some may opt to use this in combination with the Belkin cushtop or with a Jumbo Lap Desk like I do. Others may just want to get the heat away from their legs and not require any additional cooling, in which case the cush-top stand alone may be enough.

I still have mixed emotions about this lap cushion, because I personally always use my notebook cooler so this is not ideal for me. But as a gift I have seen this work well for people who want something to lounge on the couch with and don't care about using a laptop cooler. Depending on what your needs are this may be a better option for you than a lap-desk.

The one advantage this stand has that few other laptop cushions do is that the center area can indeed be used to store a cordless mouse and your power brick. It's true that it's a tight fit, but if you situate your items properly you can *squeeze* them in. There's not much extra area on which to use the mouse though, which is a slight negative.

The surfaces are hard, which lets you rest your laptop without having to worry about blocking your air intakes and vents on the bottom of your laptop. Just keep in mind that this stand will not improve cooling much on it's own. So if you have a problem with overheating then you must look for a notebook cooler in addition to this.

But on the same token, the unit is reversible so both sides are somewhat firm. If you're like me, you may prefer the cushioned feel of the Jumbo Lap Desk to the hard underside of this one.

So if you just want to get the laptop away from your legs and don't need extra cooling, then the Belkin CushTop may be for you. If you do want the cooling of a notebook cooler, but still need a cushion for lap use, you have a choice between the cush-top stand or something like the lap desk, which has a bean bag bottom that gives a little more than the hard surface of this guy.

As with most laptop accessories, I must again voice my disbelief at the list price of this guy. As it normally sells for less than half of that, it can be a good value if you are careful. This item is also frequently sold at brick and mortar stores for much less than the list price here. So never pay list price for this!

Weigh the pros and cons and see what features matter most to you.

I bought this item because the manufacturer claimed it would keep a laptop cool. I was also looking for a more comfortable Notebook stand. If you are seeking comfort ONLY this might be for you although it is quite high and hard to see over the top of the laptop if you are in a reclining position. Although it does keep the heat from your lap it certainly did not keep my 17" laptop cool at all. My laptop actually gets so hot (top, bottom, and side) I can feel the heat radiating from my laptop. On the positive side it is more comfortable than the Targus Notebook Portable LapDesk PA243U I was using before buying the cushtop but I am going back to the Targus.

i've always needed a laptop stand since my laptop (now 5 years old) overheats pretty easily and i cant leave it on for long or else it starts running REALLY slow. so before purchasing this ive always stacked it on top of books or a 3 ring binder (whatever frugal post-university engineering students must do) in order do give it some air flow if any, but still never seemed to really do the trick. Plus if i was to ever have my laptop anywhere besides on a desk (i.e. on my bed or lap) it almost tripled the rate at which it gets hot. However, now with this it really works! At least I dont notice as much of the painful load times, and now i no longer need to shutdown my comp to wait for it to cool down and then restarting it to work at its full capacity. Worth the money! Also, I dont know why the cost varies so much (i think literally the ONLY difference is color, so i just purchased the cheapest, Champagne [which is just a white/grayish color outside] w/ Green [light green inside] for $16.99) for this model.

conclusion: now leaving laptop on for more than a couple hours is worry free, same goes for working anywhere besides a flat desk.

Love the ergo design, lightweight, and heat distribution (keeps my MacBook and my lap cool). My only complaint is my Macbook slips off if angled too far downward. Yes, it does have the rubber feet on the underside of the laptop, but, they are not as pronounced as other laptops. The Macbook actually fits inside the notebook stand for storage. But it is a tight fit, so I won't be doing that regularly. Overall, good design.

I was so happy to have finally found a stand that did what I expected it to do. Unfortunately I made the mistake of first purchasing a product similar to this one HandStands Laptop Lap Desk Mat Pad - Comfortable laptop computing that has a bottom pad filed with micro beads. My suggestion is don't bother with these types of lap desks. They do not offer the support you are probably looking for.

I am extremely happy with the Belkin F8N044-KHK CushTop Notebook Stand - Champagne w/ Green, because it is firm enough to keep my laptop at a comfortable level no matter where I am sitting (Sofa, bed, traveling). I have also used this while sitting at a desk to raise the monitor up to my preferred level. Although I haven't used the "accessory pocket" much it has come in handy a couple times to place my cell phone in or slide in some bills I planned on paying online. It is open on both ends so I'm not sure how secure it would be to store something there if you're like me and moving it around the house/office with you. Overall a good product and highly recommended.

I thought the reviews I read about this product had to be biased. But it's "too good to be true"!! I am so happy with this product I can't even say. I am on disability and spend a good bit of time on my laptop lying on the bed. I didn't think I could ever find a notebook stand that would accommodate my needs, but this stand really works. My computer used to burn my legs or my stomach depending on how I was lying but it doesn't matter somehow the fan works just fine even though the vent is on the bottom of the computer. It must have something to do with the fabric. Also, this color is perfect. It's not really green at all. It's a very muted color so it goes with everything.

You cannot go wrong with this product and the price is right!! It's must cheaper than most other products of its kind. Buy this product today!

I use my laptop constantly to keep up on the latest news, etc. and was finding the heat from it a problem especially down here in Florida. The Belkin CushionTop notebook stand was just what I wanted, I purchased it in the chocolate/blue and am very happy with the color. The stand is lightweight and makes typing easier and makes for better posture. I would certainly recommend it to everyone for purchase.
