4.0 out of 5 stars Works flawlessly
Belkin's Bluetooth USB Adapter (model F8T003) is an ultra compact Bluetooth USB dongle. It is small enough to let other USB device plug into an adjacent USB port on my Apple PowerBook. At 10 meters maximum range (a bit over 30 feet), it won't let you roam on a large house, but sufficient for most practical purposes.

Pros:

Belkin's Bluetooth USB Adapter (model F8T003) is an ultra compact Bluetooth USB dongle. It is small enough to let other USB device plug into an adjacent USB port on my Apple PowerBook. At 10 meters maximum range (a bit over 30 feet), it won't let you roam on a large house, but sufficient for most practical purposes.

Pros:
- Very small and highly portable
- Attractive design with blue indicator light
- Zero configuration under Mac OS X 10.2

Cons:
- The blue indicator blinks very brightly at night
- Requires software installation and configuration on Windows platform (not necessarily Belkin's fault but)
- Could be a bit thinner for those with tightly-spaced USB ports

I have 2 computers, IBM ThinkPad A31 (runs Windows XP Professional Service Pack 1) and Apple PowerBook G4 (runs Mac OS X 10.2.6). Under Apple, the dongle worked without any software installation (and zero configuration). After going through the setup wizard, the Sony Ericsson T68i and PowerBook were in iSyncing heaven.

Under Windows XP, however, I had to install the software. And Windows XP does not provide much software support, either (ActiveSync supports only Windows-based PDAs and phones). However, there are number of software available and file exchange works very easily (i.e., uploading wallpaper).

All in all, Belkin's Bluetooth USB Adapter is an attractive solution.

5.0 out of 5 stars Works great connecting my Nokia 3650 to Win XP PC., December 23, 2003

great widget - within 10 minutes of ripping open the box I was downloading my Nokia 3650 camera full-o-pix to my Win XP PC.
It is plugged into a USB port on the back of my PC located under my home office desk and it easily connects from anywhere nearby. IMHO it is an easy install, works as advertised, and it is a brand name product with decent documentation, support, etc.. Doug

4.0 out of 5 stars works fine, April 4, 2005
This review is from: Belkin F8T003 Bluetooth USB Adapter * 10M Ra (Personal Computers)
I bought this to transfer images from my Nokia 6600 to my computer and had no problem in installation and transferring data back and forth. Took me about 15 minutes to read the phone manual to understand the operation but after that it was very easy.
I got it for a price of $9.99 and I could not ask for more at this price.
Overall, a good product.

After installing the software on Windows XP Pro from the CD (does not have Windows validation so Windows drivers will not work), the book had many steps which never happened. After spending about an hour trying to find a fix on Belkins website, I found a Word document containing the information, however, the document title was for something else. It told me how to overwrite the Windows driver with the Belkin driver, but if I ever attach the device to a different USB port, I have to go through the steps all over again.

While this process worked and I was finally (after 2 hours) able to configure the device, with no help from the measly manuals that accompanied the device, I told it to search for my Motorola phone. It found it.

Whenever the two devices connected, the Motorola would shortly disconnect from the computer. There was something about the connecting that was going wrong. I can connect my phone to other bluetooth devices with no problem.

I emailed Belkin with no response. They have poor customer support. The fixes and guides do not exist on their website for Motorola products, they do not have a forum or helpful FAQ's. I do not recommend this for someone trying to pair with a Motorola product.

5.0 out of 5 stars Plug and play on my iMac., November 22, 2003
This review is from: Belkin F8T003 Bluetooth USB Adapter * 10M Ra (Personal Computers)
The Belkin F8T003 Bluetooth USB Adapter worked for me right out of the box. I set it up on my iMac (using the Mac OS X Bluetooth Setup Assistant) and was up and running in no time at all. Had a flawless connection to my Nokia 3650 cell phone immediately. I can't say how it would work with a PC, but the disc included has software for that purpose. I've been transfering pictures and ringtones back and forth all week.

This one gets a big thumbs up from me. Though the flashing blue light could stand to be toned down a notch or two.

1.0 out of 5 stars Poor installation and nonexistent customer support, November 13, 2005

This review is from: Belkin F8T003 Bluetooth USB Adapter * 10M Ra (Personal Computers)
I attempted to install this unit on two different Windowss XP laptop computers and have been unsuccessful in both cases.
Case 1 - The driver would not allow the device to be loaded by Windows.
Case 2 - Installation went fine, got an error stating that the software license does not support this Bluetooth device whenever I tried to open the software.

In both cases I downloaded the updated drivers and documentation, but with no success.

These devices may be OK for Macintosh systems, but they are useless for WinXP.

This is my second strike for Belkin, and I will not be purchasing any more products from them. Belkin made good quality products a few years back, but those days appear to be gone.

2.0 out of 5 stars Disappointing..., February 11, 2005

Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Belkin F8T003 Bluetooth USB Adapter * 10M Ra (Personal Computers)
I couldn't wait to get my adapter, but ended up having to send it back because of all the problems. I'm not sure if I just had lemon or what, but once my Nokia 3650 and Sony T610 were paired (no problems there) I couldn't get any more communication between the devices. I tried this on two different computers, tried Belkin customer service (STILL haven't heard from them!), and finally, in my last ditch effort, looked up anything I could find on the net for help. All to no avail. I just don't have that much time to waste on this! What a disappointment!

The Bluetooth USB adapter works great - I had to do a little homework on setting it up (but that was my problem).

1.0 out of 5 stars Does not work with Win XP Pro, July 27, 2007
This review is from: Belkin F8T003 Bluetooth USB Adapter * 10M Ra (Personal Computers)
This is the 2nd Belkin product I have had the misfortune of buying and after 2 hours I cannot get it to work on my laptop with Win XP Pro. The messages differ from the guide. At the HW level, the machine recognizes the device but the Belkin software does not! Do not buy this product if you have XP.
