5.0 out of 5 stars tough protection for 20 gig 4th Generation iPod color
If you work in hazardous environments (or hazardous for delicate iPODS) and need tough protection this is your case.
It is not for constant song changing (full velcro side protection except the top), but I tend to turn the iPOD on and leave it on all day wearing its belt sturdy case clip.
You can see the songs through the plastic window.

1.0 out of 5 stars Kind of Defeats the Entire Purpose, January 7, 2005
This review is from: Belkin Leather Flip Case for iPod 3G, 4G (Electronics)
Got mine as a gift. Very thoughtful, but the design is terrible.

It's huge, first of all. Therefore the whole "my cool little iPod" thing is completely lost.

The design purposely conceals the controls, so you can't actually *use* the iPod.

So you're walking down the street, someone stops you to ask for directions, and you can't pause the Audiobook, therefore losing your place and it's not like rewinding is all that easy, and you have to take the damn thing all apart just to get to it. AND THEN, because it's winter, you get snow all over it.

What a terrible idea.

1.0 out of 5 stars Horrible Purchase, January 11, 2005
This review is from: Belkin Leather Flip Case for iPod 3G, 4G (Electronics)
This was one of the worst purchases I ever made. First of all, it does not fit a 40 gig Ipod as it says it does. Second, it makes any Ipod so bulky that it defeats the purpose of buying an ipod. Third, there's no access to controls. Fourth, the sides are velcrow, and my velcrow wore out within 3 months of purchase. Definitely look elsewhere.

You can see the songs through the plastic window.

The window is too small for the new Video iPOD but works great for the Color 20 gig 4G iPOD. It should fit the other older iPODs with the same dimensions.

Its leather too, except the sides and wears well even with bumping into things. Another important fact- the iPOD is secured with a suction cup leaving air space around the back and front of the iPOD. Good for keeping the hard drive cool if you play it for hours at a time. The space also allows the earphones to wrap around behind the iPOD leaving a nice total package that can be carried into a bag or purse. I have no scratches using this because the front of the case does not actually touch the front of the iPOD. The snug sides hold the front leather part in place above the window.

1.0 out of 5 stars A waste of money, October 14, 2005
This review is from: Belkin Leather Flip Case for iPod 3G, 4G (Electronics)
I don't really understand the purpose of the case. There is no way to operate the iPod without opening the case, however the flap is tightly shut and it's a pain in the a-- to open it. It is also too large and heavy.
Totally useless gadget.

This case is heavy duty. It's a little bulky, but it's secure. The iPod fits securely in the case's "cradle," and it even comes with a suction cup for extra hold.

The one BIG drawback is that there is no opening for the TouchWheel, so to access the controls, you need to flip the case open.

I tried this case for my 4g 40gb iPod. When I closed it with the velcro sides it pressed my click wheel down and caused problems shutting off. I have had problems shutting off since trying this case. May be ok for the 15 or 20gb, but did not deliver the help for the 40gb I was looking for. If you need a case, the Xtremity System looks to be one of the best.

4.0 out of 5 stars Not bad at all.., June 26, 2005
This review is from: Belkin Leather Flip Case for iPod 3G, 4G (Electronics)
I have used my Belkin flip case with a 20 gig 4G iPod for about 9 months. This iPod fits in the case just fine, though apparently the 40 gig model doesn't. The case is paddded leather, with the suction cup and cradle suspension, and is designed to actually protect your iPod, so as others have noted it bulks up your iPod. The engineer in me doesn't mind that. Also, air can pass between the case and the iPod, and this probably keeps my iPod running cooler.

The only annoyance with the flip case is that you have to unhook the Velcro on either side of the case to get at the controls, but the design protects the front controls better than most cases, so there's a tradeoff here. My iPod is still clean and shiny, much better than what it would look like if it travelled in my pocket. Hence, 4 stars as it does what it's designed to do, at a reasonable price.

4.0 out of 5 stars bulky, but protective, December 15, 2004
This review is from: Belkin Leather Flip Case for iPod 3G, 4G (Electronics)
Very protective. I feel better knowing that it's in this case.

BUT

it's bulky. it was mistaken as a tape player when it was clipped to my belt. Very annoying, having to pull the velcro on each side off to get to the controls.

overall, im satisfied with this case, but there has to something better out there.

3.0 out of 5 stars Keep An Open Mind And Keep Looking, September 3, 2004
This review is from: Belkin Leather Flip Case for iPod 3G, 4G (Electronics)
I bought this item at Target, and was very excited initially. As soon as I opened it though, I discovered its internal shell (which is lined, so as not to scratch) was too small for my 4th gen 40 gig. Im not sure what the exact dimensions are of the older model or smaller ones are, but I do know that the 20 gig 3rd gen is smaller. If it had fit my iPod i would be stoked! It has a really cool flip feature so that your iPod is totallt protected from minor bumps and scratched when closed and playing, and it has an opening for charging or updating your iPod (which I dont recomend if your uplaoding over 5 gigs at a time, the iPod tends to get warm anyway, so there is my neautral stance, but bulk and wearability are not big selling points, really it isnt THAT BIG, and compared to the iSkin which literally is responsible for ruining my 3rd gen 40 gig (so sticky and cheeply made) Id say its the next best thing since gucci started naking ipod cases!
