Belkin networking presents its latest innovation, the 802.11g Wireless Notebook Card. The Card works as an ideal standalone to give you instant networking capabilities. It features breakthrough 802.11g technology that makes wireless file transfers and downloads faster than ever before. 802.11g technology provides you with networking speeds nearly five times faster than the 802.11b standard. The Card sets up on any notebook PC, with the simplicity of Plug-and-Play technology. It slides easily into the CardBus expansion slot to enable a wireless connection to your network.
54g technology is the easiest wireless network to implement. The Card uses the wireless 802.11g 2.4GHz standard to offer you the widest working range-up to 1800 feet-and greater interoperability in mixed networking environments. 802.11g is backward-compatible with the 802.11b Wi-Fi networking standard, so it allows you to implement faster wireless technologies in combination with existing 802.11b Wi-Fi networks.

Hardware is good, SW not so good,

I could not get the network connection when I used a WEB security passphrase in the connection manager that came with the product. Apparently the Belkin SW developers could not figure out how to convert the passphrase to hex equivalent like everyone else does. Once I used the right hex key, everything worked great. I had to use another application to make the right passphrase to hex key conversion. I used the connection manager that comes with the Hawking Hi-Gain(tm) USB Wireless-G Dish Adapter HWU8DD. This tool correctly converts a passphrass and stores it as hex value in the registry. Belkin Tech support told me to reinstall the drivers to resolve my connection issue, which actually was a waste of time and turned out to be the wrong solution.

This is a good card. It installed in a 10 year old laptop that didn't have internal wireless. You can ether install the driver and full Belkin Wireless client or just install the simple driver via Device Manager and let Windows manage your wireless networks and settings. I did the later and have had no issues so far with a couple of networks I've connected to. The card does feel a bit flimsy where the black plastic meets the metal card, so be careful not to break it off in the laptop.

What do you expect? It was perfect for the older laptop, no complaints. I love that I could use the driver on the cd through windows device manager and not use the software. Card does not stick out too much. (Update) After finding a Wireless N card at a local micro store, I must say that this card is very week in comparison. My client and I noticed that it barely picks up a strong router on the second floor, compared to half a block away on the wireless N router I paid 9.99 for.
