Well over a decade ago ago we switched from incandescent lights to CFLs. Our electric bill was reduced by half and we were VERY happy.

Five years ago we started replacing our CFLs with LED lighting. This was back in the day when ALL LED bulbs were uni-directional, not all that bright and pretty damned expensive. But they used way less electricity than even CFLs and DID NOT contain toxic mercury (found in ALL CFLs). We now use multi-directional (bright) LEDs exclusively throughout our home. Our electric bill was AGAIN reduced by half and we were very happy.

Slowly our electric bill kept rising. Yeah I know the price of electricity has gone up. But we couldn't understand why our everyday usage was reading so high. Thinking we'd done our due diligence we were at a loss as to the cause of the increase. I purchased a "Belkin Conserve Insight Energy-Use Monitor" (measures electrical use of anything you plug into an outlet). I was shocked to learn everything (and I mean everything) electrical in our house uses electricity EVEN WHEN IT'S OFF.

We purchased "Smart Strip LCG3 Energy Saving Surge Protector with Autoswitching Technology" for our televisions and computers. It automatically kills the power to any extra stuff we use with the TV or computer. So no need to unplug the DVD player or the stereo ... or the printer, scanner and speakers attached to our computers.

Finally I purchased "Belkin Power Conserve Switchs" (basically an electric kill switch) for ALL our outlets. When we're done using the washer or the dryer, we push the off button and they stop pulling electricity. Same thing for the microwave, our lamps and other electrical items. Our electric bill has gone down considerably. We are VERY happy. Life is good. Being cheap works.

I already reviewed it under the 3 pack. I since have found so many more uses and it is convenient enough that I bought a 6pk for even more stuff. Again, the design is trendy yet functional. The plug only stands out about an inch more so unless it is being squashed behind something that will be close up to the wall...keep that in mind. Otherwise they are great! I use them for a couple of my guest and baby's room where they have the "auto-sensing" nightlights but the room maybe slightly darker because of positioning in the house/windows - I no longer have to keep unplugging etc etc..if I need them on auto for a while, then flip the switch. That's all...guest room nitelights - same there...I also use it on my charger plugs so I don't have to wear and tear on the outlets or the plugs. Did you know that "standby" and plugged but not charging - chargers can still use a minute amount of energy? Have any electronics that do not shut off totally but only go on standby? Well - here you go. I have not had one break (knock on wood) yet and the button lights green if on, off if the switch is off so you know. Oh, it is a grounded plug too so that 3rd round prong is there just FYI if you were planning to plug it into a 2 prong outlet/adapter of sorts.

These are fantastic, I only wish I had purchased more!

They completely eliminate vampire power with the flick of a switch. They are small, conveneint and work with any appliance I have plugged in to them.

I have used this with a coffee maker, a crock pot, TVs, smaller house fans, larger box fans, a Playstation 3, an Xbox, a microwave, a toaster, a blender, laptops, phone chargers, everything!

I will buy more as soon as I can because our electric bill dropped down by $20!

I live on a military base so we are given an allotment per month of electricity and if we go over it we pay out of pocket but if we go under we get a check cut and mailed to us for the amount that we did not use. At $20 a month we made a the money back that we used to purchase this in two months.

These are great, I can't emphasize enough. I remember when Belkin was well known for their routers, which I will never buy again mind you but this is one of the best purchases I have ever made!

If you remember to turn these plugs off, they will absolutely help your energy bill. I saw a reduction of almost thirty dollars on mine, probably from not having the cell phone charger left plugged in and on all the time!

Works as expected, however I didn't find use for all of them. A bit of planning ahead before buying wouldn't hurt :) The light is only visible when it's facing you. A suggestion to Belkin, maybe they could have the outside edge of the unit light up instead of the side switch, giving a 180 degree visible angle.

IMHO every switch in the home should have its own switch, but alas in this country that is not the case. The conserve switch is a little over priced but works as advertised. My 2 gripes are that it would be nice to have a discreet indicator on the surface showing on/off status (or have the switch on the surface in the first place) and that it is a little large for a switch. Otherwise it works great.

I found this product to provide a neater way to conserve energy. I say neat because the power switches stack perfectly on top of one another on your standard 2-socket outlet. And at the flip of the switch, you kill "all" electrical activity from the appliance as opposed to several unplugged cords strewn all over the counter or floor. I have also noticed a significant decrease in my utility bill; about 25-30 bucks!

i love the fact that you can simply switch to off, w/o pulling the plugs all the time to interrupt flow.
very convenient.

Works great, no problems. I wish there was a light notification on both sides. When I plug my sell in the indicator is pointed away from view, making it difficult to see.

Very helpful in cutting down energy costs. I've been using them for 3 months and I've already cut my energy costs by $20.
