It's hard to tell from the details of this product what you are going to get, so let me describe it for you:

The surface is a plastic laminate with very light texture to it. A typical plastic mousepad without this light texture actually adds to the friction because you increase the surface area between what your mouse touches and the pad itself. By adding a light texture, you decrease the surface area and thus the friction is reduced.

I was looking for a low friction mouse pad that had no graphics on it. Some optical mice do not track well (i.e. Jumpy Mouse Syndrome) because there are images and repeated patterns on the mousepad itself. This pad tracks very well because of the lack of pictures printed on top. Mine is just a plain blue. Also, it is the most low friction mousepad I have used in over 20 years of computing, and even better than the SteelSeries SX mousepad that sells for $49.99(at the time of this writing). It has less friction than that over-expensive pad! I highly recommend this product for anyone that needs an extremely fast, low friction, high tracking mousepad for a reasonable price.

If you are a gamer or anyone who wants a hard surface that tracks great, has extremely low friction, you need this mouse pad!

Great job Belkin!

When people were talking about it saying that it was blue, it appeared purple to me on the screen, and I thought that maybe my colors were messed up on the flat screen or I was just high or something. It showed up today and I was right all along... This pad is Purple! It's almost the same color that the Sacramento Kings wear...Like a Royal Purple..Why oh why did you mislead me into thinking it was blue? I'll upload a pic with the Razer Deathadder on it. The mouse has blue lights and you'll see the difference. Even though it goes against my Black/Blue color scheme, I'll keep using it because it is very nice, but change the description to purple. Removed a star for that...not appreciated!! What trips me out though are the reviews from people saying it is blue. Have I been mistaken my whole life about what the color blue really is?! If you guys comment on this, telling me that this is blue, I'm just going to assume that I died sometime last week and I'm stuck in some weird alternate universe in which nothing makes sense.

Even with a laser mouse I like to use mouse pads. The surface of the pad is hard and smooth so the mouse slides over it very smoothly and effortlessly. I am buying more for my other computers now and throwing away my old ones.

It is indeed blue, flat and provides a stable horizontal surface for a mouse. All for less than $2 and without having to suffer the indignity of going inside an Office Depot or Staples. For that reason alone, it would be a bargain at twice the price.

I've been using this mouse pad for many hours every day for the last several months. My mouse slides over it easily. It works just fine. I like the color, which is a soft and lovely medium violet-blue. Great value!

Don't get me wrong, thins mouse-pad was exactly what I was looking for!! But, of note is a very chemical smell when opened package (not unlike many items "assembled/manufactured in China), but a thorough washing in my bathroom sink with std hand soap and drying with a towel (shop rag in my case) basically obviated the smell. And folks, I have to say I, myself, am hyper-sensitive to chemical smells/additives,. etc. so someone not so allergy-prone/hyper-sensitive might not even notice smell.

Bottom line: I am using it in my day-to-day computing and am very happy. I use an optical/laser mouse ad this surface is superlative. In fact I was going to buy a new mouse, but thought I'd try a different mouse pad. Hey, for $0.99/free Amazon shipping with a $25 order, I can't complain!!

Buy it!! and for $0.99 if it doesn't work for you, toss it! But I'll bet you use it, as I do!!

Would have gotten 5-star except for smell issue, which as I said I was able to "wash away"

Cheers,

Yes, I didn't want to spend a lot of money on a fancy mouse pad. However, in this case, I got what I paid for. This mouse pad is thin, absolutely not non-skid, and is very noisy (scratchy sounding) when the mouse rolls over it. Because of the meagre price, it is not worth bothering with a return. However, if I had it to do over again, I wouldn't !! (and I'll be looking for a better quality product)

When I got my new Belkin Premium Mouse Pad in the mail, I knew I had arrived. Mansions? Pools? Bevies of gorgeous supermodels hanging on my arm? Sports cars? They all have nothing on this bad boy. As I slipped it from it's exclusive plastic cover I felt the very winds of changes tousle my hair with their golden breath. I set the mouse pad down on my desk, and it was if a voice from the heavens, a voice like 1,000 angels ringing in chorus, began to sing to me.

"Ahhhhh-ahhhhh-AAAAAAHHHHHHH!" they screamed, and lo, my ears did ring and my eyes did water with their heavenly music.

"AHHHHHHHHHHHH-AHHHHHHHHHHH, AH AH AH AH AH AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH!!!" they cried.

My nose began to run and my fingers went tingly. I put one hand on the mouse pad, and it was if a shock of electricity coursed through my veins. I closed my eyes and lifted my tear-streaked face to the heavens, echoing their celestial refrains, my voice cracking and bleeding with the effort.

Later, when I woke up on the floor of my office, the faint notes of the angelic song still resounding in my head, I crawled to my desk, placed my wireless mouse on the Belkin Premium Mouse Pad, and started playing World of Warcraft.

Would buy again.

It's a nice, cheap mouse pad.

Yes, when you get it the odd chemical smell will be overwhelming (why it's 4 stars instead of 5). Good news though, there's an EASY fix for that!

Take your new very smelly mouse pad to the bathroom sink, soak it with water (the underside is the most smelly) and rub some hand soap into it like you're trying to clean it. Get it all nice and lathered up, rinse it off, dry it off a bit then then lay it in the tub to dry the rest of the way (so it's flat). After that the smell will be gone.
