Power surges and AC power-line "noise" are common household occurrences that can damage your expensive audio video equipment and reduce the quality of your sound and picture, while sudden power losses can cause the loss of the system settings and digital recordings that you spent hours on. Finally, as a defense against power outages, the AVU1500 provides uninterrupted back-up power to DVRs, Media Center PCs, or any other devices for which you want to preserve system settings. If a blackout hits, the system's unique IR Blaster allows projectors or projection TVs to cool their lamps, preventing damage from excessive heat before shutting down, while its SmartStage Shutdown Technology shuts down your equipment in stages, prolonging battery life and reserving power for the most critical devices. Programmable outlet banks (the AVU1500 features 13 total outlets, including 2 HiCurrent outlets for high-power amplifiers) allow you to set switched and delay functionality for each bank, while a central LCD control panel allows you to monitor voltage and current from individual banks.

I have been wanting one of these for 4 year now. Not sure how many Belkin produced (discontinued), but there seems to be enough to go around. Because it is a hybrid you get an UPS and the filter technology , not to mention a ton of other features. Well built to almost industrial proportions. Best you can get, and at this price, a deal. As far a replacement batteries , not to worry. They are standard SLA's available anywhere.. Great deal!

I've been wanting a power conditioner/UPS for my home theater for years. Most were prohibitively expensive. This one is the answer.
It comes with loads of cables/connectors to satisfy almost anyone's needs. You can even train it to power on another unit within your A/V collection. It has a DC control jack that I plugged into my pre-amp. The pre-amp controls my power amp and it works perfectly with the Belkin AVU1500. I didn't perform a precise before/after comparison of video quality but it seems to be better than before I installed the Belkin unit. My power amp is 1400 watts and my sub-woofer is 375 watts. I did run the volume up to near maximum on the amp once, and it blew the circuit breaker on the unit. Other than that, I've not had any issues. This unit has been around for awhile and is no longer available from Belkin--now a discontinued model. You can still find replacement batteries for it online, just not from Belkin. APC also sells a similar product for about $300, in case this item sells out.

This unit is wonderful. It is easy to set-up and works very quietly. I have had it for 6 months and have had no problems with it. There is a version sold by Monster but this one does the job just as good, if not better.
