Vine Customer Review of Free Product ( What's this? )
I have used various screen protectors on a number of devices. I have generally found the Belkin ones to function well, with a couple of exceptions. I am rating this product highly as it performs well on the iPhone 5. This rating applies ONLY to the iPhone 5 version, however (see below).

You get three protectors in the package, as well as a smoother (a rigid piece of white cardboard) and a black cleaning cloth.

The protector is cut to line up perfectly with the iPhone screen and cut outs.

I followed the directions printed on the inside of the box and had no issues and no bubbling. I think you will always see a slight bubble here or there on any screen protector, depending how you turn the device, the lighting, etc. But for this application, I had nothing, maybe a tiny speck or two of bubbles toward the edge of the screen. Basically when the device is on you don't see it, but when it is turned off, you see it faintly.

Now, I have had problems in the past with some Belkin protectors. I think sometimes it is the phone screen which impacts adhesion. For example, I have an iPod Touch and had no adhesion issues using the Belkin product for that devices, but did have a little bubbling (not enough to distract me, but when the device was off you could see it). Yet using a Belkin screen protector for "universal smartphones" on several Pantech phones, the protectors went right on, with no bubbles, but did not adhere well, coming off within a few days.

I also had issues with the same exact product reviewed here, but the one cut for the iPhone 4S. Like this one, it came 3 to a box and included the same accessories. Both iPhones I was applying these on were brand new, same age, preparation, etc.

There were two main issues with this product that ultimately left my screen without protection.

First was the bubble issue which has previously been elaborated on. The fact is that it is nearly impossible to get all the bubbles out, thereby ruining one of the best parts of the Iphone - the screen.

Second, and not yet elaborated on, is the fact that the cut outs in the plastic dont all align with both the phone's main button on the bottom, and the camera lens and microphone on the top. This led me to consistently layer on, and pull off the Belkin overlay until there was so much dust I had to move to the next. It actually felt like Belkin had used a faulty product off which to base their screen overlay, as it consistently didn't line up.

There are a ton of other options on the market, all of which must be better than this product. What a nightmare.

My teenager and I tried several times to get this on his iPhone. I'm not sure who was worse at it. (Him.)

After we both read the directions, the second one went on much more easily. It's actually kind of a smart idea to have both sides of the film covered as you put it down to keep your fingerprints off from it and to allow the top side to go down more readily. We ended up with only the tiniest of bubbles on the very edge.

This one did not have a bad effect on the touch screen capability. It was as close as naked as possible.

He said this one is the best one out of all of the screen protectors he has ever had. I'm pretty sure we (I) have bought 5 or 6 different kinds. What matters is this one doesn't slow him down or annoy him with bubbles.

Originally, I had this product for the iPhone 4 for nearly 3 years and had no issues. The protector didn't scratch, was a hair fuzzy but it didn't bother me, and I'm pretty decent with installing these so had no bubble issues. When I upgraded to my iPhone 5, I thought I would have the same experience. I was wrong.

While the screen protector does have better clarity than the former version, the quality is terrible. It feels fine and doesn't affect the touch sensitivity, but scratches very easily and seems to attract oil from your hands/face. On my first set, I ended up with a 1" scratch that looked identical to a crack in the screen. I had no idea, and thought it was a hairline crack. The Apple store thought so too and replaced the phone. The other from that set is on my gf's phone and has had no issues yet.

So, when I got the replacement phone, I bought another package of these protectors. Apparently their packaging changed in the past month. The one I got appeared to have been opened and was "missing" the plastic card. I ended up using the one I had from the last package. The protectors also have just a single sheet you pull and discard, rather than two. Got it installed and used it a few days, noticed the same style scratch/crack I had before. Just now, I was going to peel it up and double check the screen. Word of caution, never use their dust lifter on the protector itself, it won't come off. Protector #1 ruined, but did verify that my screen is actually ok and it was just the protector that was scratched. It also had a lot of small scuffs from just a couple days of use. Applied the second protector, used the plastic card and bam! Large scratch down the center of the protector. ARG!
