I bought this case on the day I bought the iPhone hoping it would help protect it. Immediately upon placing the iPhone in the back part of the case and then putting the front cover on I realized this thing is not going to stay snapped in place long. I was right. I did simple things like placing it in my pocket, taking it out, placing on desk etc. The plastic pieces unsnap readily, so you will find that you will spend time snapping it back together. It comes with a belt clip...NO WAY would I trust this thing to stay together while walking. The chances are too great that my $600 phone would pop out. CONCLUSION: Buy a better/other case if you intend on clipping it on a belt. The only thing I can see this case is good for is propping it up on your desk like a photo album. For $25, its not worth it. I took mine back.

Purchased at an AT&T store on Friday along with my iPhone. At first it didn't seem like it fit right either (corners popped out of place) but then I was careful to snap in each of the 4 corners, then around the middle of both sides. Those last 2 connect with a solid and reassuring 'snap' and it's a tight fit. (I hear 5 distinct clicks during this process.) I definitely don't worry about the iPhone coming loose...if anything it's more difficult to get out of the case.

Pros: the iPhone by itself is actually a bit slippery sometimes. This case makes it a little easier to handle. It's not too bulky or heavy either. It's a simple, inexpensive case that seems to work fine and doesn't take too much away (hide it or make it hideous like a couple other cases do) from the phone itself.

Cons: The iPhone feels great in your hand (even if a bit slippery) and what you gain in 'additional handling ability' with this case, you lose in iPhone feel. The belt clip was a little much--I removed that all together. Also: you probably don't even need this case! The stress tests of the iPhone show it's difficult to scratch the screen (even intentionally) and handles drops onto carpet or pavement just fine.

Update: I stopped using this case a few days after purchasing it. I use the iPhone all by itself with no case, and it's usually in my pocket. The phone has no screen scratches (in fact, my pocket seems to polish and clean the screen just fine, I never use the cloth and it looks perfect) the chrome trim around the edge has a few very small/fine scratches, and the back of the phone is getting dirty.

The front lid can come loose very easy. The phone can fall just from walking around. this is a very bad product, shame on you Belkin!

This case is so cheaply made that i's no worth on even coming into contact with an Apple produt. The plastic is cheap, wears our easily, creaks, and offers no legitimate security for protecting your iphone. You can see how the plastic "snap points" will wear out quickly and then you are likely to see your beautiful $600 iphone pop out and smash on the ground. If they were giving this product away for free I would pass on it.

I purchased the Belkin Acrylic Case for my new iPhone, and in the first two days, it slipped off my belt and fell to the floor, and then, on another occasion, came apart, and sent my phone sailing to the ground.

I would definitely not recommend this product.

This case is horrible! I have had my iPhone pop out of it twice when it was clipped on my belt. Needless to say, I was very unhappy. My phone has already sustained some damge from hitting the pavement. Beware of this product.

We took ours back. This is the first Belkin product that we have had a problem with. Under normal, non-stressful operation, this device fell apart and almost destroyed my wife's iphone on the 2nd day she had it. She was able to catch the phone on it's way to the floor.
The AT&T store from which we purchased this case said they had several of these returned already.
I believe that Belkin will either a)take it off the market altogether or b) introduce a "new and improved" version soon. They certainly won't keep selling this beautiful but oh so poorly built device.

I too bought this case on Friday with my iphone. I have had absolutely no problem with the case, it is very secure and I feel confident wearing this on my belt. I have not had any problems with it falling off.

The only cons in my opinion are:

1. That you do lose that "iphone" feel since it is in the case.
2. You have to take it off to use the dock. However you can still sync
and charge it plugging the cable straight in to the iphone.

All and all, this is a great product and I don't think you will be dissapointed.

Re: Belkin F8Z172 iPhone

Poor design and loose fitting. I only purchased this piece of junk because some misinformed website gave it glowing reviews. However, the fit is loose and ruins the silver finish on the iPhone.

Belkin should replace those iPhones that were scratched from the F8Z172.

The iPhone 3Gs (and probably the 3G) doesn't fit in this case. From the date of the reviews, it was probably made for the original iPhone (2G).
