5.0 out of 5 stars Looks cool even with a white iPod.
I hadn't seen this product in stores as I usually would see the white TuneDok which seemed pretty cool but I decided to buy this one online to go better with my black car (I have a white 40GB 4th generation iPod).

3.0 out of 5 stars Great non permanent solution.
Overall I am satisfied: I certainly do not think I wasted my money. In a sports coupe, so the seating is set up to be a little more reclined than ususal. This means the iPod is best suited in the cup holders in the center console. For me, the cup holder iPod cradle is excellent. The 12V DC outlet is also in the armrest/console so the wiring is tidy with this layout, but...

5.0 out of 5 stars Looks cool even with a white iPod., October 23, 2005
This review is from: Belkin TuneDok Cupholder for iPod (Black) (Electronics)
I hadn't seen this product in stores as I usually would see the white TuneDok which seemed pretty cool but I decided to buy this one online to go better with my black car (I have a white 40GB 4th generation iPod).
The holder is everything you would expect and it did work a little better than I expected. It's very easy to just place the iPod in the holder and very easy to take it off. You can do it with one hand. You just pull back the small tab of the suction thing on the back and your iPod is easily removed and ready to go. The additional cup adapters is an added bonus for those who need them, but the standard one was enough for me.

The part that is black and holds the iPod is what seems to be the best thing about the product. As far as I know the cups are the same grey color for both the white TuneCok and this black version, so the difference is only in the iPod holder and not the cups.

The only "bad" thing I could say is that the cup itself is made of a rubbery plastic that scratches easily. In fact when I was trying to figure out what the adapters were for (before reading the manual..oops), I scratched it quite a LOT trying to fit the two additional cups together. That doesn't affect functionality so it doesn't make me give it less than 5 stars. A small issue you might want to consider as well is that the TuneDok doesn't hold iPods in their cases. So if you're like me and carry your iPod everywhere in a case you might wan to consider having a case that is easy to put on the iPod and remove it to avoid the hassle everytime you want to place the iPod on the TuneDok.

I like how the black TuneDok looks with my white iPod. It kind of makes the iPod stand out more than the TuneDok itself. I think the $15 price is pretty reasonable for the white TuneDok, and this one is too if you're willing to pay the extra $5 for it to go with your U2 iPod. But as I said, I think my white iPod looks cooler in my black car with the black TuneDok anyway.
Edit: I bought it for $20, but now it's $15. One more good reason to get this one.

I'm not too sure, but it seems like the new 5G iPod fits in the TuneDok. If they do, I bet this product is going to turn into a top seller soon enough as the demand for the black iPods is greater than the white one. Maybe someone who gets their 5G iPod can confirm this, so don't buy this for your 5G iPod unless you're already sure or can try it before you buy it.

The 12V DC outlet is also in the armrest/console so the wiring is tidy with this layout, but in other situations you should keep in mind where the wires will be kept. The cradle itself works great. The package contains two different "cup" sizes plus an additional cushion to thicken them if needed for a snug fit. The cradle screws into the cup so height adjustment is simple. In addition the cradle angle is fully adjustable so an optimal position of the docking cable is likely. The cradle also includes a suction cup that holds the iPod steady, yet has a release tab located at 12 o'clock so it is easily reached from the driver's seat on exit.

I have one for the car, and it works great. Multiple inserts will fit most configurations. Easy to get iPod in or out. Easily adjustable in all dimension, angles.

Just got this second one for our exercise equipment, which has a cup holder :-)

I had to 'fix' this ipod holder with a bicycle hand grip to stop it from shaking my ipod. I have a decent car and the roads are just ok but this thing shakes and shakes. I also put one of those beer coolers around the base of the foam hand grip and its now rock solid. Oh yeah and it holds the ipod just right too. I also put some of those velcro dots on the bottom for a little more security from my cup holder.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fits Like A Glove, September 28, 2005
This review is from: Belkin TuneDok Cupholder for iPod (Black) (Electronics)
Bought it for my '98 Ford Explorer and the displayed cup and bracket from the package fit snugly in my small cupholder. It also fits snugly in the large cupholder if I use one of the large cups and the foam ring. Also, since it is not real evident from the photo, it has a rectangular opening at the bottom for insertion of a charger into the docking part of the ipod. Only the bracket is black. The cups are grey.

5.0 out of 5 stars Ideal product to hold your black iPod!, January 29, 2006
This review is from: Belkin TuneDok Cupholder for iPod (Black) (Electronics)
The TuneDok is a great way to keep your iPod secure and close by while you enjoy music in the car. The suction cup keeps it from moving, even over very rough roads. There is space for an FM transmitter to be plugged in while it sits in the Dok. It may be configured in multiple ways so that it will fit in any car with cupholders. I wasn't sure I would buy one until the black model was available. The black TuneDok matches my iPod and works great! It's perfect.

For what it is made to do, it falls short of perfect. The problem being, it has a sucktion cup on the back to make it stay put. So if you plan on taking it out easily with one hand at whim you have to re-think things and use two hands.

4.0 out of 5 stars Simple. And it works., December 1, 2007
This review is from: Belkin TuneDok Cupholder for iPod (Black) (Electronics)
Everyone's car layout is different of course, but after doing an exhaustive search for a simple iPod dock -- I ruled out the FM transmitter -- I decided on the Belkin TuneDok for my 2007 Camry. I just wanted something to hold my iPod securely, that allowed enough adjustability to position the device at the most convenient angle. The TuneDok is almost perfect. While my Camry's cup holder adjusts to different size beverages anyway, Belkin supplies different size bases to fit most cup holders, I imagine. There's even a foam band that you can slip around the base for extra large cup holders. The TuneDok is plastic and is perfectly sized where my 4th gen iPod slips in without fear of scratching. I was skeptical about whether the suction cup would hold my iPod in place, but it does. And it releases easily with one hand - just nudge the suction cup tab with the tip of your finger.

The TuneDok angle adjusts, which is helpful if you need to attach a charger cable through the bottom opening of the holder. Being made of plastic, I don't know how durable the thing is, but I don't see a problem unless you're constantly messing with the angle. My only wish: With all the options Belkin supplies for the base size, it would have been nice if the screw-in post could come in a couple lengths or if it was longer; OR if there was a way to make the holder sit higher up. I see why you might want the holder to be more low profile so it doesn't interfere with the shift lever, but I'd appreciate having the iPod slightly higher.

3.0 out of 5 stars Scratches the sides of your iPod!, August 23, 2007

Yep, it's a well thought product, but manufacturers miss one tiny detail:
We iPod users love to protect our device from scratches, bumps, etc. We love to keep it as good as new, therefore, when I noticed that my TuneDok's side flaps were scratching my iPod's metal sides, I got really disapointed.

If you don't mind this, go ahead and buy the TuneDok, because it actually is everything else Belkin says it is.

This is the third Tune-Dok that I have bought. This was for my truck and the other two were for my family cars. What i like most about it is that you can put your ipod in your car in a secure manner without having to drill or stick things in your dash. And if your car stereo has an aux input adapter, you may conect to the ignition a belking power adapter that has a miniplug audio output that can be hardwired. Its nice because the the tune dok keep your ipod in place, and the power adapter gives the power and audio conection for an semi fixed installation. The great thing is that if you are driving around with your ipod playing music, when you park and turn off the ignition, the ipod will pause automatically.
