Not enough space between ports,
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Belkin Ultra-Slim Series 7-Port USB 2.0 Hub (Personal Computers)
This hub has a very nice slim form; however, the space between ports is narrow. Some USB devices are wide - wider than a regular USB cable - and that may render the ports next to them unusable. Examples of such devices are the Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi Go! USB Sound Card, Microsoft Keyboards and Mice receivers, and others.
I ended up getting a Rocketfish - SuperSpeed 7-Port USB 3.0 Hub from best buy that has the ports located around the circumference of a round hub, giving ample space to the device connected to each port without interfering with the others. It is also USB 3.0 and backward compatible.

Vine Customer Review of Free Product (What's this?)
This is an Amazon Vines review of this hub. The item arrived timely and was well packed. It is a light weight and compact 7-port USB 2.0 hub. It comes with a power cord and USB to PC connector and both are reasonably long cables, which is nice because one hub I purchased a few years ago had connectors that were just to short to make the device convenient to use.
Because of its slim design it fits about anywhere, but one minor issue is that it is so small and light if your USB cables have any tug to them they will pull on and move the unit, so be sure you have long enough connector cables that are not tugging on the device. I tested the device by connecting a small HP USB 2.0 pocket drive to the hub and then transfer several DVD video files. The USB 2.0 hub worked extremely well and allowed for fast, steady file transfers. All in all, this is a slim, compact, USB hub and seems to work well and be reliable, and the price seems fair. I would recommend the hub to anyone who needs a USB hub with 7 ports.

Thankful for more usb outlets,

I was very pleasantly surprised with this usb hub. I bought it because I frequently had to switch out different usb items because my computer only has two usb ports. After purchasing, I was able to plug my usb mouse, two external hard drives, and charge my phone. Good product that does what its advertised to do. BE AWARE: the term "powered" simply means, the usb hub is powered by being plugged into an outlet and not that it is able to power any and everything usb (i.e. iPads, and iPhones). Be sure to check the package.

I took this USB 7 port hub with me to Guatemala on my last trip, and it really saved me. We had so many things to hook up to my poor laptop, including scanner, speakers, modem, camera and more that this slim little guy saved me for sure. It's almost impossible to get electronic parts of any kind where I was so I would have been lost without it. It has an electrical cord that plugs in, so I brought an extra surge-power strip with me and a 3 prong to 2 prong plug adapter (ground to non grounded) for all the old electrical outlets and we had a great time. Got all our work done, too. Thanks for letting me give this a try and review it as a Vine member.

Slim Travel Companion,

Belkin's 7 port Ultra-Slim Series USB 2.0 Hub is an easy way to increase number of devices that you can connect to your computer. It really is compact and slim, quite a change from bulky 4-port hubs I remember using not too long ago. In fact, it is so small that I've misplaced it twice! If you keep it in a black laptop bag or attaché case, it can be hard to see. The only thing keeping it from being truly ultra-portable is it's rather large and heavy power brick. Thankfully, I've yet to need it, though I tested it and it does work fine.
Aside from those two complaints, I'm really happy with this USB hub. It slips easily into my laptop bag and doesn't take up much desk space when in use either. I like that it is truly plug-and-play and works between the Windows and Mac platforms without complaint. So far, I had as much as 2 thumb drives, once camera and a MP3 player hooked up to it at one time, and they all worked fine. Granted, the USB port on my computer(s) is powered, so your results may vary. Currently, the Ultra-Slim Series USB Hub isn't exactly inexpensive when compared to the competition, but you are paying for the convenience, ease of use and slim form factor. In my book, those pluses make it worth the premium. ~ Kort

Doesn't run my USB-powered external hard drive,

Great idea--a device that provides additional USB ports for your PC, Mac, laptop, or anything else that uses USB. If it worked properly, it would allow you to have the ports in any convenient location, so that you wouldn't have to grope for the ports in the back of your PC which may be inaccessible. Trouble is, it only runs some USB devices--apparently, those with their own power supplies. It will run my external hard drive that has a power supply, but won't run my Seagate 1TB drive that is USB-powered. The Seagate runs just fine if I plug it directly into the CPU. So, not a terrific product in my opinion, but works if you only want to plug in the types of devices it will work with.

It did what it supposed to do for about 7 month and then failed completely. I replaced the power supply but it didn't come back to life. Looks slick but that doesn't help.

Nice & slim and good looking. A great way to add additional USB 2.0 ports to your computer. Everything I plugged into the hub worked fine. If you need additional USB capacity this is a great hub.

Does not work with headset or iPhone,

I'm pretty disappointed with this. It doesn't work with a USB Jabra headset and it doesn't work with my iPhone.
I really thought it would because it's a powered hub but the only thing it works with in my set up in my mouse and keyboard. The three stars are for that. Pretty bummed out. Windows 7 OS FYI.

Was freezing up my PC on startup unless it was unpluged!,

I had to plug this device after my XP PC was running or it would freeze at my PC @ startup and I'd have to hold the start button in to reboot with the device. I downloaded a driver from their site which eleviated the problem but along with the driver I got some extra tagalongs I didn't want. The unit is up and running now after much work.
