This review is from: Belkin Wireless G+ MIMO 4-Port Router (Personal Computers)
Did a lot of confusing research on routers. I was at target one day and looked at what they had and had a choice between this and a much more expensive linksys. The employee at target told me that this would be great for my needs. Could not find much info on this particular one but decided to give it a try.
I am definitely not very computer literate, so this was a dream to connect. Just follow the easy directions and CD it supplies. I have an apple computer and vonage phone hooked to the back with ethernet connection (has 4 ports on the back). Then I also have a nintendo wii and sony ps3 that is connected wirelessly. All of these were a breeze to connect. No problems whatsoever. Please note I have not done any online gaming with the ps3 and probably won't. Mainly want internet for updates and the shopping channels so have no idea about gaming lag times. For my purpose it is great. No problems with any connections so far. Hope this helps someone.

5.0 out of 5 stars GREAT Belkin Model, January 29, 2009

This router and software is VERY user friendly..
I had a bad experience with the new linksys(internal antenna model) and tried this Belkin..Very glad I tried this model..Setup was toooo easy(even the wireless security was a setup dream,,no talking to TEC Support)..This took me 10 mins to setup(with wireless security enabled) and most importantly ,,no dropped wireless signals even after 4 hours..
The linksys (internal antenna model) had to be constantly unpluged and repluged after 1 or two hours...
THIS BELKIN G+MIMO IS THE ONE!!!!
VERY Easy Setup!!!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars This router is great! G+ MIMO gives better range and signal., March 23, 2009

I was looking at a lot of G routers and my decision came between the Linksys WRT54G2 and the Belkin G+ MIMO Wireless Router. I read some good reviews on the Linksys WRT54G2 but it seemed that people were happier with the Belkin G+ MIMO (I was constantly seeing 5 stars at this site and others). With the great reviews from users, G+MIMO feature and Belkin's website that showed 1,000 feet range through 2 stories, I gave it a shot and was very happy that I did. My router is on the 2nd story all the way on the other side of the house and my laptop is downstairs on the opposite side and I am still getting a great signal through walls and mirrors. Don't get just a G router... Get the Belkin G+ MIMO Router! It matters.

5.0 out of 5 stars As proficient as it looks., October 10, 2009
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Belkin Wireless G+ MIMO 4-Port Router (Personal Computers)
I was a little reluctant to buy this particular router. I had only used linksys before and though I don't complaint about those, I must say this one is way better and cheaper than most other devices. It is indeed faster than standard wireless G and after a week, I haven't seen my self forced to reset/unplug/restart it at all.
I also suggest you read the comments on the 1-star and 2-star reviews. Those ratings were given by people who did not read this product's features or were trying to use it with computers/modems from the 1980s.

Review update:
I've been using my router for almost two months now. Like a stone! No connection loss, all the speed all the time, shared bandwidth without hassle. It's connected to a desktop computer (used for heavy gaming) and my personal laptop. Never had a complaint about the performance.

5.0 out of 5 stars G-Whiz: A buyer's primer on Belkin G series routers, July 14, 2009
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Belkin Wireless G+ MIMO 4-Port Router (Personal Computers)
After much research, I purchased this specific "Belkin Wireless G+ MIMO 4-Port Router" on this very Amazon page. I was surprised when the box arrived with a router called "Belkin G+ Wireless Router" with no mention of the word MIMO. I was also surprised to find that both the photo on the box and the router itself have only ONE antenna (NOT TWO, as pictured on this page) which made me wonder if I'd been sent the wrong router (e.g. a plain old 29-dollar "Belkin Wireless G 4-Port Router" instead of the $49.99 G+ MIMO I'd ordered).

Turns out, the router I received is, yes indeed, the correct one. This is according to the model # on the invoice and router (F5D9231-4) and through the mfg. note inside the box, which reads: "Congratulations on purchasing your new Belkin G+ Wireless Router. We have enhanced our G+ MIMO line with this new router to included compatibility with the new N Technology....."

I'm just passing this along so that buyers will not be as confused as I was -- and, admittedly, still am -- because, see, if you look elsewhere on Amazon and the internet, you will find that Belkin has yet another router called a Belkin Wireless G+ (or G-Plus), which has a different model # (F5D7231-4), a 3-1/2 star rating and a $34 to $59 price tag. Which is not to be confused with the plain old Belkin G Router model # F5D7234-4, which also has a 3-1/2 star rating, but cost between $29 to $39. Both of these routers have one antenna, just like mine.

I'm at least glad to know that I did receive the correct router, as ordered (model # F5D9231-4) even tho it has only one antenna and is no longer called a MIMO. Too, the Belkin folks assured me in their mfg. note that I will "enjoy this new router even more than our previous best-in-class G+ MIMO routers."

So far, so good. It arrived quickly and was a breeze to hook up. I'll certainly leave an updated review, once the router's had time to prove itself worthy or not of praise.

In the meantime, if you're comparison shopping for any of the Belkin "G" routers, be sure to include the model number in your searches.

I decided to buy this router after my previous router would always have a "Very Low" signal even though my house isn't that big. Once this item arrived...problem solved! I was up and running in less than 5 minutes and have an "Excellent" signal all over the house.

1.0 out of 5 stars Never worked, January 4, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Belkin Wireless G+ MIMO 4-Port Router (Personal Computers)
I decided to order this router based on the reviews. I was excited when it arrived but it never worked. Not a single light went on even after several careful "re-do" attempts according to the instructions included, the website instructions, and the hard-to-understand live phone tech support. I spent much time on the phone following all instructions and ideas for solutions to no avail. We could not get a single light to even blink. I checked the outlets and they were working just fine. The device is/was a complete dud.

The technician ran out of ideas and decided I should be transferred. I waited in transfer limbo for an hour before I decided to hook my PC back to the modem directly to check out return information here. I continued to wait on hold while I considered that option and eventually filled out the form and printed the label. No one ever picked up my call from the transfer but that's fine since I would rather just get my money back and return to using Linksys. I'm glad Amazon makes returns so simple.

5.0 out of 5 stars Good router for a tough environment, October 22, 2009
This review is from: Belkin Wireless G+ MIMO 4-Port Router (Personal Computers)
Good coverage for a difficult environment. We're in a big 1870's house with 1-ft solid brick interior walls and exterior walls and we're still getting solid signal throughout the house. I'm technically saavy, but this is my first wireless router. I thought about getting a Wireless N to have an upgrade path, but none of our current laptops or iPhones can take advantage of this higher-speed communication protocol. I decided to go with the proven G technology for now based on previous user reports of solid signal strength, which I view as one of wireless N's potential weaknesses.

Network:
XP Desktop
Vista Home Premium Laptop w/ Wireless G
2 iPhones - 3G, both w/ version 3+ OS
2 XP Corporate laptops with high level security

Setup was fairly straight forward on the main desktop, hardwired XP machine. I ran into my first small problem when setting up security for the Vista laptop. Vista insisted on obtaining a PIN from the router, which was in fairly small print on a label hidden on the bottom of the router base. No mention of a PIN anywhere in the Quick Setup instructions that came with the router. Once I found the PIN I was good to go. iPhone setup was easy, so now I have a secure connection for my iPhone surfing.

As a first-timer, instructions for setting up shared printers, files, etc. in Windows would have been helpful. Nothing comes with the router. You'll have to do some Google searches to find info on how to do that with your particular configuration and operating system.

One of our corporate laptops set up smoothly, but the second XP machine was problematic. After initial setup, any new attempt to reconnect to the wireless network pushed you back into the setup wizard routine and define as a new wifi network. My spouse wasn't patient enough for me to take time to trouble-shoot that issue, so she operates in tethered mode via one of the Cat-5 connections on the back of the router. We just leave a cable plugged in to the router and strung behind the furniture to her favorite work location in our home office so that it's ready whenever she needs it.

Overall I've been pretty happy with the Belkin and pleased to finally have wifi in the house.

I do not often write product reviews but the Belkin router deserves it. I am not a computer wiz and was looking for an easy to install router so that I could use my laptop anywhere in the house. The Belkin was as easy to install as previous reviews stated, including the security features. I have a Windows XP desktop connected directly to it and a Windows Vista home premium edition laptop that hooks up on a wireless connection. All computer products should be this easy and painless to install and it has worked flawlessly. One bonus is its range. I live in a rural area and my laptop still gets 3 bars out of 5 and connects fast and fine from my barn/workshop which is over 300ft away! Great value for the money
