† The standard transmission rates - 150Mbps (for 2.4 GHz), 300Mbps (for 5Ghz), and 11Mbps - are the physical data rates. Actual data throughput will be lower and may depend on the mix of wireless products used.

* Test measured average throughput within a home network when connected devices are placed at various distances from router. The Belkin router had the highest average throughput at measurements greater than 30 feet. Leading routers were determined by identifying the most commonly purchased routers that collectively accounted for a majority of router sales. The stated transmis sion rate is the physical data rate. Actual data throughput will be lower. Actual speed and distance will vary depending on interference, network traffic, building materials, and other environmental factors.

Amazon Vine™ Review (What's this?)
Received this router, set it up with the same SSID and password as my previous router, and most of my devices were able to connect without having to reconfigure anything.

Configuration of the router was quite simple. Here are the pros and cons:

Pros:
1. Easy to set up password, left wireless channel selection to auto, etc.
2. Multibeam technology - spreads the signal well around the house. Can even use with my portable devices and laptop in the backyard (router in the den, so 2-3 walls away)
3. Self-healing technology (though this is suspect, as it seems to consist of telling the router to reboot itself at a certain day & time). Product description claims some kind of analysis to find the clearest channel (I did configure it for auto channel selection...many routers now have that option).
4. Many different devices connected - D-Link wireless print server, desktop PC running Vista, laptop running Windows XP Professional, laptop running XP Home, iPhone, Samsung Galaxy S, iPod Touch, iPad, Wii (streaming Netflix), 7" Android tablet, etc.
5. WPS configuration (though I did not use it...just assuming it will work)
6. Other standard configuration options available - DMZ, virtual server, MAC address filtering,

Cons:
1. Router displays its info (internet settings, lan settings, firewall settings, etc.) without needing to login
2. There is no place to reserve IP address based on specific MAC ID -- this is very important if you are connecting to LAN or WLAN enabled printers (or printer servers) or NAS drives. As a work around, I had to configure my printer with a static IP address, and make sure that the DHCP address range avoided the static IP used for the printer.

5.0 out of 5 stars Easy Install and Excellent Performance April 1, 2011
Amazon Vine™ Review (What's this?)
The first thing to know about the Belkin N300 wireless router is it takes little more than plugging it in to have it up and running (although the software is needed to change the default password). It comes with a network cable to connect to your cable modem and four conventional LAN ports for legacy devices using non-wireless connections. The wireless connection works out of the box and the performance is very good. I was able to connect a laptop, Kindle, and Nintendo DSi without issue. For those without much of a computer background, it makes an excellent choice given its ease of use.

By Jake
I've had this router for about two months now, and it works great as long as you don't try to use the internet. If you'd like to use an internet based device, you'll need to unplug the router for 30 seconds so it remembers that it's a wireless router and is intended to connect things to the internet.

It's extremely helpful to go on Belkin's website to find out that this is considered perfectly normal, and isn't a sign that there's anything wrong with the router. Personally, I'd say a wireless router that forgets that it's a wireless router once a day is not exactly a reliable piece of equipment. I'd love to return it, but I'm outside of the magical 30 day window...so I'm stuck with this POS until I scratch together the money to buy one that works.

1.0 out of 5 stars Finally gave up on Belkin N300 June 24, 2012
I have had this router for about 8 months, bought it to bring N band connectivity to my MacBook Air. Basically during periods of inactivity, and sometimes when I am right in the middle of something, this router looses its connection to the cable modem, indicated by the blue light on the modem turning orange. When this happens you need to reboot from the cable modem to the router to get connection back. Research and testing shows to me that it is an issue with WPA2 security on the Belkin Router as this drop of connection does not occur when you leave security off or when you use WEP. WEP is crackable so this is not an option on my network. I replaced this router with a refurb Cisco and haven't had a dropped connection since. I'd love to try the Belkin with DD-WRT to see if this improves it, but it is not compatible. At this point, this router is a brick, not usable.

**Edit** all of this trouble could have been avoid had I researched this, my bad, won't happen again. Needed a router yesterday, bought what looked good. My mistake.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great inexpensive Router! April 26, 2011
Amazon Vine™ Review (What's this?)
I work with technology every day at the library. I have even taught classes on computer uses...but I don't have a lot of confidence when it comes to networking.

My father gave me his old WiFi Router(a Linksys WRT54GL). It worked well enough, but my blackberry didn't like to connect to it and the PS3 came nowhere near connecting no matter what we did...I even got Dad to come over to monkey with it. However, my laptop would connect from anywhere in the house.

I got this as a replacement...and it is amazing! I don't think I have had any electronic device with an easier set up. Plug it in. Connect the computer. Insert the disc. Done!

I used the WPS set up with the Blackberry...and it connects automatically at all times now. I entered the PSK into the PS3 and it connects every time I turn it on.

And I'd swear the connection is faster too on the wired connection and the laptop via WiFi (probably my imagination). I couldn't be happier. We've only been using it for a few days, if it goes south...I'll update this review.
